Chapter 420: Chapter 362 Tom’s Indifference
Nina had been holding Tom’s hand tightly. When his fingers moved, she suddenly woke up.
She opened her eyes and saw that Tom had finally woken up.
Nina, who had been worried, finally felt relieved.
She hugged Tom, excited and happy. Her eyes turned red, and she could not help but shed tears.
"Tom, you are awake. You are finally awake! Great. I was so worried!"
Tom furrowed his brows. He felt pain all over his body, especially in his right leg.
He wondered what had happened to him.
His memories gradually flooded back. Tom recalled that when he was in class, there was a big earthquake suddenly.
He organized the students to retreat outside the classroom, but before he could run out, he was engulfed by the ruins of the collapsed house.
At that time, he felt that he would not be able to survive. He called Nina before he fainted.
He thought, why was Nina here?
When Tom turned around and saw Nina beside him, there was surprise in his eyes. Then, he immediately cooled down and calmly asked, "Nina? Why are you here?"
Nina looked at Tom with tears in her eyes. She was happy, excited, and worried. All kinds of emotions intertwined in her heart.
"I was so worried about you... Fortunately, you’re fine... Tom, don’t worry. Your right leg will definitely be fine... I’m here with you."
Nina stammered and sobbed, and she was too excited to put it clearly.
"Tom, it’s good that you’ve woken up. I was worried sick. You’ll never know how scared and worried I was when I received your call and learned that you were stuck in a big earthquake. Melissa and I went to Los Angeles to look for you at once. Finally, we found you!"
Tom lowered his eyes slightly and looked at his right leg, which was tightly bandaged. He deliberately looked away.
"Why did you save me?"
"What ... what did you say?" Nina was stunned and puzzled.
Tom glanced at her, hiding the true feelings in his eyes. He adjusted his mood and even continued to say coldly, "Why did you save me? Didn’t we break up? I have nothing to do with you now."
He still didn’t look into Nina’s eyes and was trying to control his emotions.
Nina’s heart sank as if she had been thrown down a cliff. She was shocked and sobbed, "No. Tom... I was very worried about you. You are just angry with me. You don’t want to break up with me, right?
"I don’t believe that you have fallen in love with someone else. This is just an excuse..."
Nina looked at Tom pleadingly.
Tom closed his eyes tiredly, forcefully suppressing the urge to hug Nina. He paused for three or four seconds, his eyes cold. "Haven’t I put it clearly enough before? I am in love with someone else. You don’t have to waste time on me."
"No, impossible!"
When Nina heard this, she got emotional. Her face turned red, and her tears fell.
"It’s been five years... Five years! How could you fall in love with someone else? No..."
Melissa and Harley sat beside them. Harley’s eyes were full of indignance.
Harley thought, Tom is a bastard. How could he treat Nina like this?
Melissa also frowned. She walked up and hugged Nina’s shoulders, gently patting her back. "Nina, don’t cry."
After saying that, Melissa looked down at Tom, who was lying on the stretcher, and said coldly, "Tom, I shouldn’t have interfered with this. It’s just that your words really hurt.
"You worked as a volunteer teacher in the mountains. When Nina heard about the earthquake, she immediately asked me to come with her to look for you overnight. You know the situation in the mountains, and there were aftershocks. In order to look for you, we took great risks. Nina was at stake because of you!
"Don’t you know that? You must know her feelings for you."
Tom listened to Melissa, and he had complex feelings. He raised his eyes slightly and looked at Nina, who was in a daze. For a moment, his heart softened.
But in the end, he moved his lips and did not say anything.
Nina’s parents were right. Right now, he was just a poor man. Compared to Nina’s family, he was very different. He couldn’t let her live a happy life.
What was more, after the earthquake, his right leg was injured so badly that he couldn’t feel it at all. He was afraid that he would be disabled in the future...
Tom felt that he was not worthy of Nina. He didn’t want to be her burden either.
"So what?" Tom smiled with disdain and asked Melissa.
After a pause, Tom said coldly, "I have broken up with her. It was my own business to suffer from the earthquake. I did not ask her to save me. Even if she cried and almost died, it had nothing to do with me. She asked for it."
Nina raised her head and looked at Tom in astonishment. She could not believe her ears.
Nina thought, why?
Why has Tom changed so much?
Melissa frowned and was about to say something, but Harley had already stood up and looked at Tom angrily.
He pointed at Tom and gritted his teeth. "Tom, don’t be so ungrateful!"
Tom sneered and looked at the man in front of him with contempt. "So what? Do you want to stand up for Nina?"
"You!" Harley was so angry that his face turned red and he even waved his fist, but he was hurriedly pulled by Melissa.
Melissa grabbed Harley’s wrist and tried to calm him down. "Calm down, don’t hit him. Let’s talk about it when we return to Aldness."
She had heard Nina talk about Tom before, and she felt that there might be some reasons for Tom’s indifference.
Harley had no choice but to give up after hearing that. He reluctantly returned to his chair and sat down.
Nina’s eyes were red. She wanted to ask Tom more questions, but Tom simply closed his eyes and ignored her.
Looking at Nina’s sad face, Melissa secretly sighed.
Three hours later, the plane landed, and they left the airport.
On the way to the hospital, Tom kept his eyes closed and did not say a word to Nina.
After sending Tom into the ward, Melissa heaved a sigh of relief.
Nina said worriedly, "When will Dr. Hanson come over? Tom’s legs..."
Harley couldn’t help but retort, "He deserves it! He was so ruthless to you. Nina, why are you still so worried about him?"
"Be quiet. Harley, if you have nothing to do, go back to work!" Melissa frowned and looked at Harley.
