Chapter 618: Chapter 618: Friction Friction

"You didn’t drive?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile as they walked out of the antique street. He hadn’t seen Britney’s iconic car anywhere.

Hearing this, Britney playfully stuck out her tongue. "Nope. I couldn’t find the way."

"If you don’t mind, you can take my car," Lin Kuang offered with a smile, glancing at her.

"Of course. I love a free ride," Britney replied with a smile.

"Alright then, please get in." Lin Kuang chuckled, opening the car door for her with a gentlemanly flourish.

Britney couldn’t help but smile slightly, finding Lin Kuang more interesting by the second. She slid into the passenger seat, and Lin Kuang got into the driver’s seat.

"Where should we go to eat?" Lin Kuang asked, glancing at Britney beside him.

"This is my first time in East Sea, so I’m not very familiar with the area. You choose, my treat," Britney said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded. "Okay. What do you prefer? Western or Chinese?"

"Since we’re here, we should definitely have Chinese food," Britney said matter-of-factly.

"Good, let’s go then." With that, Lin Kuang started the car and drove off.

"I’m very curious, what do you do for a living?" Britney asked from her seat.

"Me? I do a lot of things, a bit of everything, really. There’s no specific job title," Lin Kuang said after a moment’s thought.

"Alright then," Britney said with a shrug.

"What about you? What do you do?" Lin Kuang then asked.

"Me? I’m pretty similar to you. I don’t have a fixed job. I live off my dad and occasionally pop into his company, but I just have a nominal position there," Britney explained with a laugh.

"Looks like our work situations are quite similar," Lin Kuang said, chuckling.

"They are, aren’t they? Are you trying to hit on me?" Britney asked boldly, the direct question catching Lin Kuang completely off guard.

Westerners really are bold, much more so than our Eastern girls, Lin Kuang thought.

"Does this have anything to do with me hitting on you?" Lin Kuang couldn’t help but ask.

"Who knows? Don’t you men always try to flirt with a beautiful woman when you see one?" Britney replied.

"Alright, but do I look like that kind of man?" Lin Kuang said, puffing his chest out with an air of righteous indignation.

Hearing him, Britney nodded earnestly. "You must be a huge flirt."

Lin Kuang immediately deflated. "Why would you say that?" he asked, feeling wronged.

"Because you’re hitting on me," Britney stated seriously.

At this, Lin Kuang was completely speechless. That’s quite an answer!

"Fine. If you think I’m hitting on you, then I guess I am," Lin Kuang said, feeling a little helpless.

"Okay, but I won’t accept for now," Britney added, leaving Lin Kuang utterly defeated.

Lin Kuang drove them to a restaurant he had visited once before. To be honest, the food was really good.

"Let’s eat here. Their food is pretty decent," Lin Kuang said with a smile after parking the car.

"Sounds good, let’s go." With that, Britney opened the car door and got out.

Lin Kuang sighed in amusement. This woman is so direct. He got out as well and led her into the restaurant.

Since it was between regular meal times, the place wasn’t crowded, and there were plenty of empty tables. The two of them casually found a spot by the window and began to order.

After they ordered, they started chatting. For some reason, they seemed to hit it off immediately, and the conversation flowed with ease. It felt like only a moment had passed before all the food they ordered arrived at their table.

"Would you like something to drink?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile as the delicious dishes were served.

"Are you trying to get me drunk?" Britney asked.

"Why does your mind always go there?!" Lin Kuang asked, speechless.

"Alright, fine. Let’s have a little something. Red wine doesn’t seem right... let’s just have beer," Britney decided after a moment.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded. "Sure." He ordered a case of beer, and the two continued to chat while drinking bottle after bottle.

An unknown amount of time passed, and the entire case of beer was empty. A faint, bashful blush appeared on Britney’s gorgeous face.

"Should we call it a night?" Lin Kuang asked, noticing she seemed a bit tipsy.

"No way! I haven’t had enough yet. Let’s keep going," Britney said, her cheeks flushed.

"Are you sure you want to continue? Any more and you’ll really be drunk," Lin Kuang said.

"Of course we’re continuing," Britney insisted earnestly.

"Alright, you’re the boss. Let’s continue." Lin Kuang once again asked the waiter for more drinks.

"See? You really are trying to hit on me. And now, I’m starting to get a little interested," Britney said, looking straight at Lin Kuang.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang felt exasperated. Am I? Am I really?

"Fine, then. Why don’t you just come home with me tonight, since you’re so convinced I’m hitting on you," Lin Kuang retorted irritably.

"I can’t do that. We just met. I can’t go home with you; that would make me look like a bad girl," Britney said with a completely straight face.

Lin Kuang was at a loss for words, realizing he simply couldn’t keep up with her train of thought. This Western beauty’s logic jumps around way too much!

Just then, more beer arrived. They continued to eat and drink, and the atmosphere grew even more congenial. Britney, in particular, seemed to have had quite a bit to drink, as she began switching between Chinese and English as she spoke. Thankfully, Lin Kuang understood both, or communicating would have been a real challenge.

After they finished a second case of beer, Lin Kuang quickly paid the bill. He was afraid the beautiful woman wouldn’t be able to handle any more.

"Hey, we agreed I was paying," Britney murmured, her eyes bleary.

"It’s fine. It’s my treat since you’re here. You can treat me next time I’m in America," Lin Kuang replied.

"But I haven’t had enough to drink yet," Britney complained with a small pout, looking at Lin Kuang with her pitiful, clear blue eyes.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but roll his eyes. "Forget it. Any more and you’ll pass out. Come on, I’ll take you home." He then helped the somewhat drunken Britney to her feet.

"Are you taking me home just so you can take advantage of me?" Britney asked, her words slightly slurred.

"Ugh, if that’s what you think, then fine, I’ll be sure to satisfy you," Lin Kuang retorted, annoyed.

"Okay then, take me home," Britney said again.

Lin Kuang was completely exasperated. What on earth is this woman thinking? He supported Britney as they walked out. Her ample chest pressed against his arm, and as they moved, there was inevitable friction... friction...
