Chapter 801: Chapter 236: Lord Remembers Grudges! (Third Update)
"This ship probably won’t hold out much longer!" The woman looked at Mu Qingge with a face full of terror.
As soon as she finished speaking, a giant wave crashed against the ship, almost tipping it over, and she screamed, falling to the other side, slamming hard against the wall panel.
Upstairs, the sound of chaotic footsteps could already be heard.
Mu Qingge looked up for a moment, then looked at her and said, "Let’s go, get up there first."
The woman pressed her lips tightly, nodded forcefully, and followed Mu Qingge, stumbling as they made their way upstairs, her face pale.
Why did she come knocking on my door?
Mu Qingge had no time to ask her.
Upon reaching the next level, she saw the old captain who was steering the ship, loudly saying something to the people on board. He had lost his previous composure and now appeared somewhat panicked.
Mu Qingge’s eyes darkened, and she headed towards him.
However, at this moment, the woman who had come up with her suddenly tugged at her sleeve, causing her to turn her eyes.
Mu Qingge’s gaze fell on the sleeve she was holding, raising an eyebrow with a questioning look.
"We must leave quickly, or it will be too late!" the woman urged anxiously.
Hearing her words, Mu Qingge’s eyes narrowed suddenly, and she grabbed the woman’s wrist with a firm grip. "Do you know something?"
The woman’s face grew even more unsightly as Mu Qingge seized her so fiercely.
Moreover, Mu Qingge’s words caused her eyes to start dodging.
"Quick—! Hold on tight, secure yourself to the ship, don’t be blown away by the wind and waves!" the old captain shouted loudly from behind.
However, Mu Qingge paid no attention to the chaos behind, her clear eyes fixed intently on the woman she held.
"I... I..." The woman stammered a bit.
At this time, another large wave hit, lifting the ship into the air, drawing an arc before it landed back into the sea.
Seawater flooded onto the deck, causing the ferry to sway, and everyone on board fell into a state of panic; their Spiritual Power Cultivation, in the Yanghai, was utterly useless.
Out of the corner of her eye, Mu Qingge saw the old captain tying his own wrist to the ship’s rudder with a rope.
A glint of light flashed in Mu Qingge’s eyes, and she pulled the woman along towards the old captain.
While tying himself tightly, the captain suddenly saw two figures appear before him. Looking up, he didn’t have time to be amazed by the visitor’s appearance; instead, he shouted angrily, "What are you two coming here for?"
Mu Qingge remained silent, picked up a rope, tied it around her waist, and secured herself to the rudder.
The old captain watched her actions with a darkened face, his eyes widened.
After tightening the rope, Mu Qingge raised her eyes, looked calmly at the captain, and said softly, "You’ve spent years making a living on these seas, so you naturally know where on the ship is safest. Following you won’t be wrong."
Her words changed the captain’s expression, leaving him speechless.
At this moment, Mu Qingge turned her eyes towards the woman beside her, asking in her surprised expression, "If you don’t reveal the hidden truth now, I’ll have to let go."
If she let go, the woman would surely be swept into the sea and sink to the bottom of the Yanghai.
"No—! Please don’t!" the woman clutched Mu Qingge’s hand fearfully, pleading with her voice.
Mu Qingge remained unmoved by her pitiful appearance, simply continuing, "My patience is limited."
"The legend is true!" the woman finally shouted out.
Her words caused both Mu Qingge and the captain to fall silent, watching her, waiting for her to continue.
The woman’s voice trembled as she said, "My family lives by the edge of Yanghai, and for generations, they’ve resided here. According to my ancestors, all the legends about Yanghai are true. A giant beast really resides at the bottom of Yanghai, and the sudden changes in weather on the sea surface mean it’s about to awaken. If we don’t hurry and leave, we’ll surely be swallowed by the beast."
Her words caused Mu Qingge to frown slightly, her gaze shifting to the captain.
The captain, seeing her look, understood the meaning in her eyes and said solemnly, "I also know this legend. However, after ferrying on Yanghai for so long, I’ve seen many storms but have never seen the beast. No! It’s not true!"
The captain’s eyes suddenly widened, his face turning unsightly as he said, "I remember once seeing a ferry in the distance sailing. Everything was going smoothly, but suddenly the sky went dark, there was a violent storm, lightning and thunder. Then, a shadow fell, and the ferry disappeared!"
As he spoke, his voice began to tremble slightly. He had connected his experience with the legend the woman spoke of.
As soon as the captain finished speaking, everyone felt the sky above them darken entirely.
The three standing by the rudder, along with the others, looked up at the sky. It felt like the darkened sky was a giant beast’s maw, slowly swallowing them whole.
"This..." The captain’s face turned dark and blue as he looked in disbelief at the descending shadow.
In the shadow, blood vessels could faintly be seen pulsing, and there were hideous fangs... Even a stifling humid heat, not inferior to the sea’s surface, with a fishy odor, gradually surrounded them.
The turbulent sea pushed the ferry towards the shadow’s depths.
"The...the giant beast..." The woman’s legs went weak, and she nearly fell onto the wet, cold deck.
"Oh my god! What is that?"
"Is it the legendary giant beast?"
"We’ve been swept into the beast’s mouth by the sea!"
"Help! I don’t want to die—!"
"How could this happen? Isn’t the sea bottom beast just a legend? How could we be so unlucky to encounter it?"
"Run away quickly!"
The two or three dozen people on the ship began to panic.
They desperately untied the things securing them and jumped overboard. It seemed they believed that as long as they jumped into the sea, they could escape being devoured by the beast.
"Don’t jump!" the captain shouted, trying to prevent them from rushing to their deaths.
However, those eager to escape paid no heed to his warning, jumping one after another into the sea.
In the blink of an eye, only a few people remained on the ship.
These few were also frantically pulling at the ropes on themselves, trying to jump into the sea to escape.
Just then, a giant wave swept up those who had jumped into the sea, carrying them towards the shadow’s depths, faster than the ship itself.
"Ah—! No—!"
From within the sea came the screams of terror from those dozen or so people.
Their spiritual light flickered, silver and gray, yet to no avail, unable to change their fates.
In an instant, the dozen people who had jumped into the water disappeared from the sight of those remaining on the ship. The scene frightened the others who also wanted to escape by jumping into the sea, leaving them stunned and unsure of what to do.
Mu Qingge’s gaze darkened. Waiting for death had never been her style.
’I must find a way out of this plight... Moreover, nothing must happen to this ship and the captain!’ Mu Qingge thought to herself.
She still needed this ship and the knowledgeable captain to take her to the East Continent, so they couldn’t be harmed.
As thoughts raced through Mu Qingge’s mind, her hands were already in action. She quickly untied the rope from her body and fastened it to the woman beside her, who looked on in horror.
Once the rope was secured, the woman finally realized what was happening and looked at her in shock.
Mu Qingge had no time to explain to her. She said to the captain, "If you don’t want to die here, find a way to sail the ship out of this beast’s control; I’ll buy you time."
After speaking, she didn’t wait for the captain to digest her words and turned her gaze to the survivors frozen on the ship. She shouted loudly to them, "If you don’t want to die, come and help the captain sail the ship out."
With that said, her right hand made a grasping gesture, and with a flash of golden light, the Linglong Spear appeared in her hand.
Mu Qingge’s eyes sharpened, and she raised the Linglong Spear to throw it at the shadow in the sky. The Linglong Spear shot like an arrow towards the shadow.
Bam—!
The violent crash seemed to severely injure the shadow, as some bloody liquid dripped onto the deck.
Mu Qingge gazed at the crimson on the deck, her heart sinking, ’Sure enough, it’s a beast causing trouble!’
"Roar—!"
A thunderous roar erupted as if the beast was enraged by Mu Qingge’s resistance.
And the people on the ship were awakened.
They looked at Mu Qingge in shock, unable to imagine where she got the courage to fight the beast. Little did they know, Mu Qingge’s courage actually stemmed from her determination not to die here.
Since she didn’t want to die, she could only fight and strive for a glimmer of hope.
Mu Qingge leapt into the air, grabbing the falling Linglong Spear to continue her assault.
She aimlessly unleashed her Spiritual Power on the shadows, provoking the beast to howl in pain.
Suddenly, a flame flickered at the tip of her spear, and the Eight Desolations Void Flame burst forth, attaching itself to the shadows. The formless and colorless Eight Desolations Void Flame clung to the shadows like leeches, continuously burning them into nothingness.
"Howl—howl—!"
The beast let out cries of agony, thoroughly enraged by Mu Qingge, eager to kill the ant daring to challenge it.
At this moment, the captain at the helm finally felt the grip on the ship ease. This brought joy to his heart, and he seized the moment to adjust the ship’s direction, heading the other way.
As the ship moved, it brought hope to everyone aboard.
The remaining few rushed to help, assisting the captain in steering the ship away.
In the air, Mu Qingge’s attack continued. She didn’t intend to kill the beast; she wasn’t sure of its nature. It had been lurking in the Yanghai for so long, it surely wasn’t easy to kill.
So, she only hoped to escape smoothly.
There was no need to fight the beast to mutual destruction, and the ferry struggling on the sea wouldn’t wait for her to return before leaving.
It wasn’t the right time to kill!
Mu Qingge distracted the beast, and the ferry slowly drifted away from the beast’s maw.
No one had ever seen what form the beast took.
The captain desperately accelerated, heading toward the bright sea.
"We have to wait for her!" The woman tied to the helm saw the ship moving further from Mu Qingge and anxiously shouted to the captain.
The captain looked conflicted and hesitated.
The others, however, began speaking all at once.
"Wait for what? If we wait any longer, we’ll all end up in the monster’s belly."
"That’s right, better him than all of us!"
"Us safely escaping is a comfort to him, even if he sacrifices himself!"
"You all! How can you be like this? If it weren’t for her desperately drawing the monster’s attention, how could you have escaped?" The woman exclaimed.
"Keep arguing and we’ll throw you into the monster’s mouth, too!" someone threatened.
"Yeah, if you’re so worried about him, why not stay behind with him? He’s foolish enough to do this, nobody forced him!"
Their words, one after another, solidified the captain’s resolve.
He gritted his teeth and accelerated the ship.
It seemed he had been persuaded by the others, deciding to abandon Mu Qingge to save themselves.
The woman, knowing she couldn’t convince them, could only look up and shout to Mu Qingge, "Get down here, they’re leaving!"
Mu Qingge glanced over, her clear eyes glinting without showing surprise or shock.
As if the fact that these people abandoned her was something she had long anticipated.
The ship gradually ventured into a bright sea.
They seemed convinced that Mu Qingge would die in the beast’s mouth.
Yet they didn’t know, after escaping the beast’s grasp, Mu Qingge’s eyes turned golden, and an invisible Spiritual Attack struck the monster, causing it to become dazed for a moment.
Seizing the opportunity, Mu Qingge didn’t hesitate, swiftly flying away, disappearing from the beast’s maw.
...
Escaping with their lives, the people on the ship breathed a sigh of relief, except for the woman, who glared at them in anger.
Suddenly, a loud bang came from the deck, causing the entire ship to feel as if it sank slightly, startling everyone. When they looked, they discovered to their surprise that Mu Qingge, who they assumed would die in the monster’s mouth, was standing intact on the deck.
Most importantly, a golden aura surrounded her.
"A... Golden Realm expert..."
The astonished few looked at her, trembling.
Earlier, during Mu Qingge’s attack amidst the chaos, they hadn’t noticed her cultivation level. At this moment, they realized that they had abandoned a Golden Realm expert.
