Chapter 336: Chapter 336: Space Exposed (3)
"Who did you say is coming to Capital City?" she asked, startling herself awake. If that were the case, she would have to entertain that master properly.
Dugu Chen saw how excited she was and pressed her down again, "What’s the hurry, there’s still time. You, just stay at home and focus on your pregnancy."
"Hmph, what’s the difference between this and raising pigs? I refuse." She rolled her eyes at him, laid down on the bed, closed her eyes, and pretended to sleep.
"Hehehe." Laughter emanated from his chest, his mouth split into a brilliant smile, "I want to fatten you up until you’re plump and fair."
Feigning sleep, Feng Xuxu opened her eyes, glanced at him displeased, rolled her pupils, pouted, turned over, and continued to feign sleep with her back to him.
Dugu Chen raised his eyebrows, stretched out his hand to embrace her from behind, and gradually fell asleep.
The birds chirping outside the window woke the two people sleeping inside, and the sunlight streamed through the windows, casting its warm glow onto their faces through the bed curtain.
"Chen, what time is it?" She squinted her sleepy eyes, not wanting to get up at all.
Dugu Chen looked outside through the window, guessing it was just around 9-11 AM, he looked down at his dear wife who seemed to have fallen asleep again, quietly got up, freshened up, and then leisurely left the chamber.
About an hour later, Feng Xuxu finally opened her bleary eyes, turned her head to see that the person beside her was gone, sighed, and slowly got up.
Yingsu, who was outside, heard a noise from the bedroom and asked in a low voice from behind the screen, "Has the princess woken up?"
Bending over to reach for something and finding her belly in the way, she could not manage it, feeling quite frustrated. Upon hearing Yingsu’s voice, it was like music to her ears.
"Come in." She called Yingsu in full voice.
Yingsu entered the room and saw the princess sitting on the edge of the bed with her shoes scattered, one here, another there. She stepped forward, bent over, and helped the princess put them on, "Princess, for these little things, let us do them for you in the future."
"Ah, it’s like looking up at the sky, but then down at my belly." She shook her head and derided herself.
Yingsu couldn’t help but chuckle while nimbly helping the princess dress.
Sitting at the table in the hall, looking at the variety of breakfast foods laid out in front of her, even the nourishing meal that had been missing for two months was on the table; Feng Xuxu instantly felt a warm feeling inside, "Where is the Prince?"
She looked up toward Zhu Lengqing who was by her side at the time.
"The Prince is in the study dealing with affairs; he has finished eating already," Lengqing took a small bowl and served the princess the nutritious meal personally prepared by the Prince.
Picking up the spoon, she slowly tasted it, not too hot, but as soon as it entered her mouth, her delicate brows furrowed. It tasted significantly different from what she was accustomed to, and with a moment’s thought, she knew who was behind the meal. She drank two full bowls before setting down her chopsticks, took some water, rinsed her mouth, and then stood up to leave the hall.
As she turned a corner, she saw Huang Yi and Xuan Yue standing at the entrance to the study.
"Princess," Xuan Yue and Huang Yi bowed and greeted her.
"Mhm," she nodded, and then Huang Yi pushed open the door of the study and beckoned the princess inside.
Dugu Chen was buried in paperwork at his desk, piled high with memorials.
"My wife, come, sit." He raised his head from the pile of memorials, looking at his beloved wife, and waved her over to sit by his side.
Feng Xuxu pursed her lips and took a seat obediently beside him, casually picking up a memorial, "Aren’t these the Emperor’s affairs? How come they’re with you?"
He continued to review the memorials while explaining to her, "These are military reports; I was the one who usually approved them. When I took leave, I handed them over to the Emperor. Now that I’m back, they’ve been returned to me." He shook his head helplessly at the two months’ worth of piled up memorials, then continued reading the one in his hand and picked up a brush to start annotating.
