Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Help
Before Aiden could speak, the knight gently grabbed his arm and began leading him away, "This way, your Holiness, we must leave now"
The knight led him further into the city and away from the gates where the battle was taking place, Aiden had no idea what was happening, it was happening so fast that he couldn’t comprehend all of it at once.
Since he had already read the lore and the backstory of the game, this was so out of place.
Since he chose the fifth Empire, even if he didn’t choose a class, and a class was chosen for him, there isn’t a scenario where he would be thrown into war.
He had the option to choose the priest class, which was a healer class serving the goddess of light, the same goddess he met when he logged in. He was supposed to start in the church since the goddess apparently went ahead and chose the priest class for him.
He was supposed to begin in the church, get blessed by the head priest and spend the first few hours practicing beginner healing magic, before setting off to complete his first quest, but now that was out of the question.
In the world of Empire Wars, healing magic was rare, so rare it was considered a gift from the goddess. It wasn’t like wind or fire magic, or any other form of magic, it was believed to be divine and throughout the continent, there had never been more than 10 male priests at a time.
Every male healer was an ordained priest and served in the church. While female priestesses also possessed healing abilities, their talent was noticeably weaker than that of their male counterparts.
For that reason every generation of Head priests was always a male. The head priest alone had the ability to heal an entire army but they rarely left the church unless it was absolutely necessary. Instead, other male priests along with female priestesses, were sent to back the army up as support, but currently Aiden was the last priest in the entire nation, but of course he had no idea.
The knight continued pushing him along through crowded and less crowded streets till they reached an open square where hundreds of civilians had gathered.
Families gathered together with whatever belongings they had managed to carry from their homes, while dozens of knights formed a defensive wall around them.
The moment Aiden approached with the other knight, several people immediately noticed the white robes he was wearing, and hope immediately restored to their tired faces.
A woman suddenly broke through the crowd with tears streaming down her cheeks. She held a young boy against her chest, his clothes stained in blood from a wound across his side, and she fell to her knees in front of Aiden without hesitation.
"Your Holiness!! Please...please save my son, he’s all I have left" She cried desperately.
Aiden froze where he stood. There was nothing he could do, and even if he wanted to help, he didn’t know how to use healing magic. His system wasn’t working after all, he didn’t get his stats, what spell he could use or anything. He was just thrown into the game.
Before Aiden could let a single word out, the knight stepped in front of him, "Move her back," He ordered the other soldiers.
"But my son!!" The woman screamed refusing to be pushed backwards, "Your Holiness!! Your Holiness!!"
"The enemy is still inside the city," The knight spoke, "His Holiness must be escorted to safety, and once the threat is over, everyone will have a chance"
Two soldiers gently pulled the crying woman away as she had stopped struggling, Aiden looked back at the child for a brief moment, he felt guilty but there was nothing he could do.
Then the knight pulled him forward leaving the square, and they passed through a large gate heading deeper into the capital.
The street slowly changed, the damaged homes and crowded city were replaced by wide stone road lines with enormous mansions.
Although the distance cries of war could still be heard, this part of the city was quiet, knights stood guard outside every estate, and the only sounds were servants carrying supplies to the gate Aiden passed to get through.
And finally, they stopped as a knight on top of a horse stopped in front of them. The knight, who brought him over here immediately turned around and dashed back to the battlefield, leaving Aiden with the other knight.
"Your Holiness, I’m sorry for the inconvenience but you must get on" The knight spoke.
Aiden hesitated for a second before climbing onto the horse with the help of the knight, and he rode forward at once.
Still unable to process everything that had happened, Aiden looked around, the surroundings were just beautiful. The horse rode through beautiful gardens, water fountains, and magnificent buildings, before finally making its way to the largest structure in the entire capital.
The gates were opened as the horse rode inside the Royal Palace.
