Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Glitch
"Hahahaha... Finally, I’ve acquired this treasure" a figure spoke as he stepped inside his apartment and closed the door behind him.
His eyes gleamed with excitement as he grinned from ear to ear. In his hands was a box, and boldly written on the surface of the box were two words.
’NexVerse Technologies’
He quickly locked the door and headed straight to his bedroom. Resting on his bed was a helmet which closely resembled a motorcycle helmet, but it wasn’t, it was a VR headset.
The boy placed the box on the bed and began unboxing his treasure. Inside were layers of foam and paper; underneath all of that was a tiny chip inside a plastic covering sitting on a tiny leaflet.
The boy brought the box closer to his nose and inhaled deeply. The scent of a newly opened item made him smile, and then he opened the plastic covering, and on the side of his VR headset was a slot where he inserted the chip.
"Battery, check... Connection, check," He muttered, a grin spreading across his face as he put on the headset and lay on his bed.
"Let’s see what this has in store for me"

In the year 2056, technology had reached heights once thought impossible by anyone. Virtual Reality which was a far-fetched dream, was no longer a dream or a luxury; it had become a part of everyday life.
Heavy consoles and screens were things of the past. With lightweight VR headsets and full-dive systems, people could step into entire worlds with their minds alone.
These games were no longer simple simulations. They felt real. Players could move, fight, feel pain, and experience emotions as if they truly existed inside the game world.
Cities formed inside different multiplayer virtual worlds, guilds and players alike, and millions chose to live a second life online.
For some, VR was an escape from the harsh reality of life, and for others, it was a way to chase power, fame, and fortune, which was impossible in real life.
The rise of Virtual Reality did not happen by accident.
Behind it all was a single company...NexVerse Technologies.
NexVerse was the first to perfect the full-dive VR system. Their systems were safer, faster, and more realistic than anything before them, and they changed how people experienced virtual worlds, and soon, every major company followed their lead.
But NexVerse didn’t stop there. They registered a global patent on their VR neural-link technology. Any gaming company that wanted to create VR games had no choice but to use NexVerse’s system since it was simply the best.
In return, they paid a percentage of their profits. Since VR gaming became the norm, no company wanted to be left behind or spend billions trying to create their own neural link; every major company agreed.
The companies still made millions through the deal, but NexVerse made billions; they made so much money that their focus shifted from gaming to perfecting their neural-link technology.
For years, NexVerse dominated the industry without challenge. Then, without warning, they announced a new game, the first one in a long time.
Unlike anything before it, this game was developed solely by NexVerse and released under strict rules.
It was rated 18+, the first of its kind, with no exceptions. Advanced facial recognition and identity scans were built into the system, making it impossible for children under the age of 18 to buy the game, and even if it was bought for them, they still wouldn’t be able to play it.
The game was called Empire Wars.
Just like the name suggested it was a war game, but that wasn’t the focus. Unlike most VR games, it was single-player only. There were no teams, PvP mode, and no shared worlds, which made people a little disappointed but then the big reveal came.
A single thing that sets the game apart is the adult content.
A clip of a beta-tester was released, and almost everything was heavily censored. In this game, you could do anything literally; the female NPCs were designed to be far more suggestive, it was truly a gonner’s dream.
Unlike previous games, since children could play it, all adult elements were removed, female NPCs had smaller boobs and ass, and it was impossible to see a naked NPC or even a naked female player, but in Empire Wars, there were no such restrictions.
The announcement came with some backlash, but of course, the support was far greater, and among them was Aiden, who had pre-ordered the game just a day after the announcement.
When the announcement was first made, the game was almost completed, and now it was, and this was going to be his first run; he had already read the lore of the game, and to be honest, apart from the adult content, it was definitely interesting.
In the game, there were 6 Empires, and it was set in a fantasy world with different races. The first Empire, which was the strongest and strictly made up of humans, was on a conquest to conquer the entire world and bring all the Empires under one rule.
They had succeeded in conquering the second, third and fourth Empires, but their conquest still continues, led by their warrior king, Alaric von Draken.
With their superior military power, it was only a matter of time before the entire world would fall under their rule.
During character creation, players could choose an Empire to side with and choose their job/role, they could choose anything apart from the king, members of the Royal family and nobles directly related to the Royal family, meaning you could choose to be a general for the First Empire.
You could also choose any of the other two remaining Empires, but since you would be on the losing side, you would be granted even more bonuses, boosts, and upgrades to maybe turn the tide and lead your Empire to victory.

Aiden placed the helmet on his head and lay on his bed, the screen in front of him turned on and a smile spread across his face.

Aiden watched as words appeared in front of him, and a countdown started. This was normal during the first login, since everything had to be calibrated.
Another smile formed on his face as he watched the countdown reach the end.

The world around him changed and soon he found himself in an empty white room with a large display in front of him.

Before Aiden could continue, the words in front of him cracked and began repeating.

"What the hell is happening? How did the...Huh!!" Aiden suddenly felt himself falling, and then he looked down.
He wasn’t in the white room, and it felt like he was free-falling from space. He didn’t even have time to register a scream when he suddenly appeared in another white room, and this time, a figure was in front of him.
