Chapter 101: Chapter 101
Sophie’s POV
One second I was walking to the medical facility.
The next, Vanessa was standing directly in front of me.
My blood turned to ice.
"Hello, Sophie," Vanessa said, her voice cold and calm.
I dropped the medical supplies. "Vanessa."
"Surprised to see me?" She circled me slowly. "You shouldn’t be. I promised I’d come back."
"Christian will kill you." I activated my Luna power, creating a barrier around myself.
"Not before I kill you." Vanessa lunged.
Her silver claws hit my barrier and bounced off. But I felt the impact drain my energy.
I was already exhausted from healing Christian for days. My reserves were low.
"HELP!" I screamed through the pack mind-link. "Vanessa’s here! Main compound!"
Vanessa laughed. "Calling for your mate? How predictable."
She attacked again. This time her claws found a weak spot in my barrier.
Pain exploded across my arm. Blood poured from three deep gashes.
Silver. She’d used silver.
The wounds burned and wouldn’t heal.
I fought back with everything Christian taught me.
Block. Dodge. Counter-Strike.
But Vanessa was bigger. Stronger. More experienced.
And I was tired.
"You took everything from me," Vanessa snarled, landing a hit to my ribs. "My father. My mother. My pack. My entire life."
"I didn’t—" I gasped for air. "I didn’t do anything to you."
"You exist!" Vanessa’s eyes were wild. "You made Christian happy. Gave him strength. Everything the Knight family doesn’t deserve!"
She grabbed my throat and slammed me against a wall.
I channeled Luna energy, trying to push her back.
It worked. Barely.
Golden light exploded from my hands, throwing Vanessa backward.
She crashed into a bench but recovered instantly.
I collapsed. No energy left. Nothing.
Vanessa stood, murder in her eyes.
"Time to die, little Luna."
Christian’s POV
I felt Sophie’s terror through our bond like a knife to the chest.
"SOPHIE!"
I was running before I consciously decided to move. Out of my office. Down the stairs. Across the compound.
My injuries screamed in protest. I ignored them.
Sophie was in danger. Nothing else mattered.
I shifted mid-run, wolf form faster even if it hurt like hell.
Through the bond, I felt her fighting. I felt her exhaustion. Felt her fear.
I ran faster.
Sophie’s POV
Vanessa charged at me.
I couldn’t move. Couldn’t defend. I couldn’t do anything but watch her silver claws coming for my throat.
This was it. I was going to die.
Then Christian’s massive wolf form tackled Vanessa away from me.
They went down in a tangle of teeth and claws.
"Christian," I whispered.
He was still healing. Not at full strength.
But he fought like a demon protecting his mate.
Vanessa matched him blow for blow. She was fresh. Prepared. Deadly.
I tried to stand. Failed. My body had nothing left.
All I could do was watch helplessly as they fought.
Christian’s jaws snapped at Vanessa’s throat. Vanessa’s claws raked across Christian’s already injured shoulder.
Blood flew.
They were both fighting to kill.
Christian’s POV
Vanessa was good. Better than I expected.
But she was threatening Sophie.
That made me better.
I fought with everything I had. Every technique. Every ounce of strength.
But my injuries slowed me down.
Vanessa’s silver claws caught my side. Burning pain.
I yelped and stumbled.
Vanessa saw her opening and went for my throat.
Sophie’s POV
"NO!"
I found strength I didn’t know I had. Channeled one last burst of Luna energy.
Not at Vanessa. At Christian.
Golden light flowed into him through our bond.
Christian’s wounds began healing. His strength returned.
He caught Vanessa’s throat in his jaws before she could strike.
But Vanessa twisted, breaking free.
They circled each other. Both bloodied. Both are determined to end this.
"ENOUGH!"
Marcus appeared with warriors. They immediately surrounded Vanessa.
Connor was there too, weapon drawn.
"Stand down, Vanessa," Marcus ordered. "You’re outnumbered."
Vanessa laughed. "I don’t care."
She lunged at me one more time.
Christian intercepted.
But Vanessa had expected that. She twisted mid-air, silver claws aimed at Christian’s throat.
Then a gunshot rang out.
Vanessa’s body jerked. She looked down at the blood spreading across her chest.
Connor stood ten feet away, gun still raised.
"That’s for threatening my Luna," Connor said coldly.
Vanessa fell to her knees. "I... I was so close..."
"You lost," Christian said, shifting to human form. "The Knight family survives. Again."
Vanessa’s eyes found mine. "He’ll... always have enemies... because of his name..."
Then she collapsed.
Connor checked her pulse. "She’s dead."
I stared at Vanessa’s body.
It was over. Finally over. Tom was imprisoned. Harold is dead. Vanessa is dead.
The threats were gone.
Christian limped over to me, blood covering his body.
"Are you okay?" His hands checked me for injuries.
"My arm." I showed him the sliver claw marks. "But I’ll live."
"Diana!" Christian shouted. "NOW!"
Diana came running with her medical team.
Christian held me while Diana treated my wounds. The sliver burns hurt worse than anything I’d ever felt.
But I was alive.
We were both alive.
"It’s really over?" I whispered.
"It’s over," Christian confirmed. "You’re safe."
Marcus organized the scene. Warriors secured Vanessa’s body. Connor documented everything for pack records.
Christian and I sat together while Diana worked.
My wounds would heal. Christian’s injuries would heal. The pack would recover.
We’d survived.
Somehow, impossibly, we’d survived everything.
Christian pulled me against his chest. "I thought I lost you."
"I thought I lost you too."
"Never again." His arms tightened around me. "I’m never letting you out of my sight again."
"That’s going to make bathroom trips awkward."
He laughed despite everything. "Worth it."
Diana finished bandaging my arm. "You need rest. Both of you. Immediately."
For once, neither of us argued.
We walked back to our quarters together, leaning on each other.
Behind us, Shadow Ridge’s warriors cleaned up the aftermath of Vanessa’s final attack.
But ahead of us was peace.
