Chapter 502: I’m Going To Enjoy This

Wait.

Wait for the right moment.

David’s eyes flicked to hers, and the corner of his mouth lifted as if he had heard the thought. "I hope you are not stupid enough to think you can overpower me, my sweet." He leaned lower, his breath brushing against her cheek. Then his tongue dragged against her face.

Veronica recoiled instantly, disgust twisting through her so violently she almost gagged. She turned her face away, her stomach churning.

David laughed softly as if her revulsion delighted him. "Oh, I’m going to enjoy this." He lowered the knife again, gaze fixed on hers as the blade slid beneath another button with a sharp flick.

Another button broke loose and clattered to the floor. The edge of her bra became visible beneath the torn shirt.

David’s eyes lowered. That was all Vee needed. She swung at him with every bit of strength she had, aiming for his face, for bone, for anything that would make him bleed. But David was fast. His hand snapped up and caught her fist before it landed, his fingers closing around her wrist with bruising force.

Vee used his grip against him, yanking herself upright before he could pin her back into the seat. The plane tilted slightly beneath her feet from the rush of blood in her head. She twisted hard in his hold, bringing her body around and driving her elbow backward.

David moved just enough to avoid the full force of it. The miss cost her. He caught her around the waist and dragged her back against him, his chest hard against her spine, his breath close to her ear.

Veronica fought. She shoved against his arm, twisted her hips, tried to drop her weight. David’s hold tightened, but she refused to give him stillness. Refused to become easy. Her heart was pounding so hard she could feel it in her throat, but beneath the fear was rage. She lifted her leg and drove her heel down onto his foot.

David grunted. The pressure around her loosened for half a second. Vee threw herself backward with him, forcing his balance to break. He stumbled, hit the seat behind him, and fell into it, pulling her with him.

She landed on his lap. The position made revulsion crawl across her skin. She immediately tried to wrench herself away, but his arms locked around her waist, trapping her against him.

"Delicious..." David murmured, sounding impressed.

Before she could twist free, his mouth brushed the nape of her neck in a kiss that made her stomach turn. A sick insult to every place Luca had ever touched her with love.

Vee thrashed against his grip.

"What’s it like to fuck you, Bambola?"

Her whole body went rigid. "Don’t call me that!" she snapped, rage tearing through her voice. "Don’t you ever call me that! You fucking creep!"

"Why? Luca calls you that." His arms tightened around her as she struggled. "And I assure you, I am a much better man than your husband."

"Is that what you tell yourself to feel like a man, you wanker?" Vee snapped.

The blade flashed. It was so quick she did not see his hand move. She only felt the sting—a thin, bright line of pain slicing across her cheek. Her breath caught, shock freezing her. Warmth bloomed against her skin, slowly then heavier as blood gathered and slipped downward.

David’s gaze followed it with sick fascination. "Beautiful..." he murmured. His eyes darkened with pleasure. "Just spectacular."

The plane hummed around them, mocking the horror unfolding. It was a cage above the clouds. David leaned in. His tongue flicked out and caught the drop of blood sliding along her cheek.

A sound of satisfaction left him. "Hmmm..."

Revulsion slammed through her so violently she nearly gagged. "You’re sick!"

"Now take off your clothes, my darling," he said softly. "Let me look at you."

The torn front of her shirt hung open. She had an idea of what he wanted to do with her but she refused to give him the satisfaction of watching her shrink. Every place Luca had touched her had been claimed with hunger that left her whole. David was filth.

David lifted the knife again. "We don’t want another accident, do we? I’d hate for your husband to find you all cut up."

Her throat tightened at Luca’s name, but she swallowed the weakness down. Luca would come. He would tear the sky apart if he had to. But until then, she had to survive David long enough to make sure Luca could find her.

David released her suddenly and shoved her to her feet. Vee stumbled, catching herself against the edge of the seat. She lifted her head and forced herself to look at him.

"How long have you been planning this?" Vee said, her eyes stinging with tears.

"I don’t do planning," David said. He lifted the knife and gestured lazily with the tip. "Come on. Top off."

"David..." She forced his name out carefully, trying to reach whatever part of him might still listen. "You do not have to do this."

His eyes stayed on her.

"Luca..." Her voice broke slightly. "Luca is going to kill you. He will find me, and he is going to kill you."

David smiled like the thought pleased him. "I am hoping he does. I want to fuck you in his presence," he said, voice soft with delight, "and I want you to watch as he shoots himself in the head." His smile widened. "Poetic, isn’t it?"

Cold spread through her body. David did not merely want to hurt her. He wanted to use her to hollow Luca out.

Luca had sensed something wrong with him from the beginning. He had known the man was strange, dangerous in a quiet way. She hadn’t listened, at least not entirely. She thought he just had his guard up around every one.

"Go on," David murmured. "Go on."

Veronica’s breathing came in sharp bursts. Her fingers lifted to the remaining buttons of her shirt.
