Chapter 1552: Chapter 1552: Ian Shelby Is Taken Away
The helicopter started to descend, flying lower and lower, and everyone realized something was wrong, because they had never seen a scene like this.
This was Trevor’s turf, yet even he was completely in the dark and couldn’t figure out what was going on.
"What’s happening? Who are they looking for?"
"Why is there a helicopter? And five of them? Did they get the wrong place?"
Finn Morgan was also baffled. He silently analyzed the situation, his gaze landing on Trevor’s face as he asked in a low voice, "Who are they?" He could sense they weren’t here with good intentions.
Trevor stared at the helicopters, his starry eyes narrowing slightly. "I don’t know either." He watched them warily as they steadily landed in the courtyard.
They quickly saw the cabin doors open, and tall men stepped out one after another with an aura of aggression. Their boots crunched on the snow; there had to be more than fifty of them. They wore identical black clothing, as if they all took orders from some organization.
"What are they trying to do?" Janelle Mills had seen a bit of the world, but never a scene like this. She couldn’t help getting a little nervous, remembering those drug-bust scenes from TV dramas.
In truth, everyone realized something was off!
At that moment, only Ian Shelby took a step forward. His eyes were dark and deep as he fixed them on those men, and said gently to everyone, "They’re here for me."
Instantly, everyone around him turned their heads, their gazes landing on his face!
Some were shocked, some doubtful, some worried, some confused.
"Did you offend someone or what?" Jocelyn Morgan’s heart clenched tight as she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Before Ian could explain anything to her, a man who seemed to be the leader walked toward him and stopped in front of him. "May I have a word with you." He didn’t even bother with a greeting.
Ian glanced at Jocelyn, then walked along with the man. They watched as the man leaned close to his ear and whispered something.
Ian’s expression shifted slightly; his eyes shone like stars, but there was a faint chill in them. "Give me two minutes."
"Yes, sir." The man responded with utmost respect, then turned and headed back toward the helicopter.
Ian, on the other hand, walked toward Jocelyn and the others. He took her hand, reluctant to let go, rubbing it in his palm. "Jocelyn, there’s something I need to take care of. You have to take good care of yourself."
Jocelyn looked at him, a sense of impending loss washing over her.
She gazed at him through tears, gripping his hand tightly as she softly asked, "Who are they? Why are they looking for you? What happened exactly?" Crystal-clear tears rolled down just like that.
She didn’t want to cry; she just wanted an answer that would put her heart at ease.
"They’re from the country of Lorelei. They’ve come to take me home; something happened back at my family’s." Ian said sincerely, then reluctantly stroked her hair. "I have to go. Wait for me to come back."
Jocelyn’s eyes were brimming with tears, her pink lips pressed tightly together. She nodded firmly. "Okay, I’ll wait for you!" She actually wanted to shake her head, not wanting to let him leave, but she forced herself to be sensible!
Ian let go of her hand, reined in his emotions a little, then cast an apologetic look at her aunt and bowed respectfully to her.
Then he gave everyone else an apologetic look as well, and only then did he turn and leave.
Watching his departing back, Jocelyn furrowed her brows. Her instincts told her that things were nowhere near as simple as he said.
If something happened at home, wouldn’t a phone call have been enough?
Was there really a need to make such a big show of it?
They watched Ian get on the helicopter; the men in black also boarded. In no time, the rotors began to spin, and the five helicopters lifted off again, flying toward the horizon.
The moment she pulled back her gaze, tears slipped down Jocelyn’s cheeks once more.
How she wished this were all just a dream.
At this moment, Trevor typed out a message and sent it to Justin Kingston on WeChat, telling him what had happened when Ian was taken away, and even typed out the word "Lorelei," asking if he knew anything about that country.
Trevor himself had never paid any attention to it.
