Chapter 82: Was Lady Vivienne... worrying about him!?
"RRRAAARRRRRRHHHHHHH!!!!"
The moment Lucian was alone with Vivienne, he finally let go, ending his own suffering that he had been enduring for the sake of others around him.
He pounced on Vivienne as he lost all his reasoning. His eyes were filled with uncontrolled purple light, his remaining hand formed a claw, his shoulders hunched and the air around him thickened with hunger, heat and raw, demonic, violet desire.
He closed the distance between them in almost an instant.
Vivienne watched him come and—
Good.
She nodded to herself with a satisfied look on her face.
She still remembered the first time he had lost control in front of her, he had attacked like a starved animal.
Straight line, wide movements, too much wasted strength, too much hunger spilling into every step, slowing him down and making it much easier to counter him.
But now—
Now it was different.
Even in his mindless state—
His body remembered the proper movements, his foot landed properly, his weight shift was cleaner, his claws did not swing wildly toward her face, hoping an attack would hurt her, now, they were aimed properly, towards her throat, if that failed, then the ribs, then the tendons, places she had taught him to target.
The more she watched him, the more Vivienne nodded to herself.
A month was not wasted.
She couldn’t help but think to herself as she continued to observe him with a smile. She looked like an artist staring at her proudest creation.
Less wasted motion, less obvious attacks, the beast was still there, Vivienne was obviously not expecting him to fight properly when he had already lost his mind, but even as she looked at the mindless beast, at his sharpened, more directed movements—
Her smile widened.
It was somewhat ironic, if Lucian was conscious, Vivienne would never have shown this smile of approval in front of him.
The boy was arrogant enough without feeding him compliments.
The last thing she wanted was for him to get even worse.
But since Lucian could not understand or notice her expressions right now, Vivienne allowed herself to be impressed for one brief moment.
And then—
She moved.
Lucian’s claw cut through empty air and before his body could correct the mistake, Vivienne was already standing beside him.
Then she grabbed his throat and drove him down to the floor.
BAM
CRACK
The floor cracked, but Vivienne didn’t stop. She placed one knee on his chest, her fingers held his neck with calm, perfect control.
"RRRAAARRGHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Lucian snarled and twisted beneath her.
Monster.
She couldn’t help but think inwardly.
Even in this mindless state, moving with almost no demonic energy to spare, he was... stronger.
It was almost unsettling at some level.
It wasn’t just his movements that had improved, his demonic energy was no different, of course, he didn’t have any to use right now, but Vivienne already knew that.
She had seen him use it, heck, the very fact that he was able to hold his regeneration, which should have been his body’s instinctual response, for five hours, just so he didn’t lose control, was more than enough to show how much his control over his demonic energy had improved.
And most surprisingly—
His physical strength had grown too.
Yes, his movement and control over demonic energy had improved unnaturally fast, but at the very least, improving them was still considered possible.
The same was not true for physical strength.
One’s physical strength doesn’t just grow, not after a certain point.
When humans ingest demon blood and survive, their bodies are strengthened, yes, but that was it. After that, growth usually becomes a matter of control, better techniques, better discipline.
In general, better use of the power already inside them.
Their raw strength does not just keep rising without a proper reason.
Well...
Lucian’s did.
He could grow stronger.
He was already stronger than he was a month ago.
Not to mention the boy’s learning speed was unnatural too.
The three techniques she taught him, techniques she had expected even him to struggle with for months, he learned them in weeks, then used them in a real mission well enough to survive things he should not be surviving.
He... truly was a monster.
And till now...
Vivienne had no idea what he actually was.
She just knew one thing—
Whatever he was...
If he kept growing the way he was growing right now—
He would become... far more than any being in this organisation and this entire world could control.
For now, however, that did not matter.
Vivienne grabbed him, restricted his movements even further, Lucian continued to thrash, to resist her, she just sighed and pressed two fingers against a point behind his neck and the next instant—
Lucian’s body locked, his glowing eyes dimmed and his body finally went still.
Vivienne kept her hand on his throat for one more second, then, she released him.
"Idiot."
She murmured softly as she stood up, then, she walked towards the door and pressed a button she had made after she took Lucian in.
After about a minute, the same woman who had come the first time Lucian lost control, walked in.
"Lady Vivienne."
She greeted politely.
Vivienne just pointed at Lucian lying unconscious on the ground and—
"Be quick, he has that University he seems to treasure so much in a few hours."
She ordered.
If it was anyone else other than this woman, their eyes would have widened in shock.
Was Lady Vivienne... worrying about him!?
The woman, however, was already used to this sight. She had seen how Vivienne had considerably warmed up when it came to Lucian, to the point it almost looked like she actually cared about him.
Of course, that did not mean she was no longer shocked. She just... learned to hide it because Vivienne did not like her expression when she first reacted to it.
"As you command."
So the woman, hiding her shock, bowed her head and nodded.
Then, she picked Lucian up in her arms and left.
And finally—
Lucian’s first mission ended.
