Chapter 181: I SAW THE WAY SHE LOOKED AT HIM!
"I look pretty handsome."
Lucian commented. Now, normally, the three boys would have made a disgusted face at that narcissistic comment. Lucian was expecting that as well but—
"You really do!"
The boys agreed and that made Lucian blink.
Soon...
More students noticed. Within a minute, nearly twenty people had gathered around him, then thirty, and then even more.
The whispers spread faster than Lucian expected.
"It’s really him."
"Evelyn Starling’s bodyguard."
"He studies here?"
"I told you he did!"
"I thought that was fake!"
"So the rumors were true?"
Lucian looked around, clearly enjoying the attention.
"Lucian!"
A girl near the front called out.
"Are you really Evelyn Starling’s bodyguard?"
She asked.
"Of course, you think these photos are fake? I was the bravest in the team."
"What’s she like in person?"
Another one asked.
"She is very beautiful."
He gave the most obvious answer. Then, he looked at the crowd and—
"Even more than when she’s on TV. I think they put makeup on her so everyone does not lose their minds looking at her real beauty. You see, when I first saw her without makeup, I nearly fainted because of how beautiful she was, but since I was strong, I held on."
He spoke any random thing that came to his mind and the best part?
These people listened.
It was a very different experience.
One that Lucian was enjoying quite a lot.
"Bro."
Another boy squeezed forward.
"How did you get that job?"
At that question, many boys turned towards Lucian, wanting a clear, step-by-step answer with a proper tutorial but Lucian—
"I applied."
He answered and—
"..."
"..."
"..."
For the next few seconds, no one spoke.
"...seriously?"
The boy blinked.
"Trust me. I never lie."
Lucian nodded like the most trustworthy person in the world.
"Hey, can you tell me what cycle you are on? Are you using tren?"
Another boy questioned.
Lucian looked at him for a moment.
At this point, from all the conversations he had heard so far, he understood that the common knowledge here was that he took steroids to improve his build, so Lucian wasn’t exactly surprised by the question but—
"Hmmm..."
As he stared at the boy who asked this question, he shook his head.
"Sorry, can’t tell. Your features are too sharp."
"...what?"
The boy frowned.
Lucian shook his head.
"If I tell you what I used, you will become more handsome than me and I can’t have that. Being handsome and looking good is my thing. I refuse to create my own competition."
The people around him laughed, even the boy had a smile on his face.
Unbeknownst to them, they were all becoming more and more comfortable around him, they ALL felt like they had known him for years, even though it was probably the first time they were talking to him.
"What about your eyes?"
Another girl raised her hand.
"My eyes?"
Lucian tilted his head.
"Are they real?"
"Of course they are."
"Stop lying! We have seen the before-and-after pictures."
Another girl shouted as she showed another picture uploaded on social media.
It was one of the pictures someone had somehow managed to find of how Lucian looked before everything happened and compared it with Lucian right now.
Lucian stared at the picture for a while, then—
"I was handsome before too, huh?"
A few people around him chuckled.
"Where did you buy your lenses?"
A girl asked. Lucian shook his head again.
"As I said, no competition."
"But I am a girl."
"Can’t take the risk these days now, can we?"
The group laughed again.
"Can I take a picture?"
Another girl asked as she raised her phone with the camera on.
Lucian immediately straightened his posture.
"Make sure you capture my good side."
He spoke as he made a peace sign.
"Which side is that?"
Another girl asked as she prepared to take a photo as well. Lucian thought about that question for a long time, then, he finally had an answer.
"All of them."
"You are a narcissist!"
"I prefer the word confident."
He smiled as the picture was taken, then another one, another one, then more.
Lucian posed dramatically every single time.
Peace sign.
Thumbs up.
Arms crossed.
One time, he even pointed toward the sky for absolutely no reason.
"What pose is that?"
A girl asked.
"I don’t know. It just felt cool."
Lucian admitted honestly.
Again, people laughed. They couldn’t stop smiling around him, Lucian’s presence was... different than normal.
His confidence didn’t seem like arrogance, his jokes never targeted anyone. Whenever he teased someone, he somehow managed to compliment them at the same time. He was almost hypnotically charming.
The atmosphere became lighter and lighter.
Then...
Someone asked the question everyone had been waiting for.
"So..."
A girl smiled mischievously.
"Are you and Evelyn Starling dating?"
The entire crowd suddenly became quiet, waiting for an answer.
Lucian lowered himself as well, as if he was about to share a secret, and the students bent down with him.
Lucian then looked left, then right, then he leaned forward, everyone leaned closer to him and—
"Officially..."
He whispered.
"...I cannot comment."
And the instant he said those words—
Half the girls screamed.
"I KNEW IT!"
"SEE!?"
"I TOLD YOU!"
"I SAW THE WAY SHE LOOKED AT HIM!"
Lucian quickly raised both hands.
"Now, now. I never confirmed anything."
"You basically did!"
"I absolutely did not."
"So you’re saying there’s a chance?"
"There is a chance for everything. I still need to up my game, you know. I’ll still need tips, so I’ll be relying on you people."
"Oh, I know!"
One of them raised her hand immediately.
"Compliment her hair!"
"No!"
Another girl quickly interrupted.
"Compliment her eyes! Always compliment the eyes!"
"Wrong."
A third girl shook her head.
"Listen to her problems. Even if you don’t understand them, just listen.
"And nod! Girls love when boys actually listen."
"Yes!"
"Oh! And remember important dates!"
"Like birthdays?"
Lucian tilted his head.
"Exactly!"
"And anniversaries!"
"And favorite flowers!"
"And favorite desserts!"
Lucian slowly nodded.
He looked genuinely serious now.
"...I’m going to fail."
"Don’t worry, even if you do, you have many options!"
Another girl nodded as she looked at Lucian with a suggestive look in her eyes. Lucian also did not fail to notice her tucking in her already flat belly and raising her breasts and he...
He only smiled to himself.
So this was what fame felt like.
Funn~
