Chapter 307: Chapter 307 I am not losing him

As soon as Samantha landed at New York Airport, she immediately called Ryan.

The first call...

Went unanswered.

She was already overwhelmed after learning the truth, and now it felt as though a knife were pressed against her throat. The suffocating uncertainty left her unable to think clearly.

Daisy understood Samantha’s anxiety and quickly tried to reassure her.

"Don’t be so nervous," she said. "Things aren’t as bad as they seem. Besides, do you really think Ethan would dare to challenge Ryan head-on?"

Although Daisy was just as frustrated by the entire situation, she forced herself to think logically.

How could Ethan possibly risk provoking Ryan?

Everyone in the Knight family knew Ryan valued Samantha above all else.

If Ethan truly intended to use this secret against Samantha, he would have exposed it long ago instead of confronting her privately.

After thinking it through, Daisy continued, "I think Ethan wants something from you. At most, he’s using this to pressure you—not to destroy you."

Samantha considered her mother’s words and slowly nodded.

There was some logic in that.

Daisy continued analyzing the situation.

"Ryan is an incredibly busy man. He makes time for you whenever he can, but that doesn’t mean he’s available whenever you call. And think about it—he’s proud, stubborn, and impossible to deceive for long. If he truly believed the woman he loved had spent the night with another man, do you honestly think he wouldn’t react?"

The tension in Samantha’s face eased slightly.

She hadn’t thought about it that way.

Seeing her daughter calm down, Daisy pressed on.

"Everything will be fine," she said reassuringly. "For now, focus on figuring out what Ethan really wants. He would never dare confront Ryan directly."

She paused before adding,

"Right now, your priority is protecting everything you’ve worked for. The Hill family is depending on you."

As for the Taylor family...

Daisy wasn’t worried in the slightest.

Once the DNA results were released, the Taylor family would become another powerful ally.

There was nothing to fear.

After hearing her mother’s reasoning, Samantha gradually regained her composure.

Thinking back carefully, Ryan hadn’t behaved differently after that night.

He had treated her exactly as he always had.

Perhaps...

She really was overthinking everything.

Taking a slow breath, Samantha picked up her phone and sent Ryan a text message.

[Ryan, I’m back in New York.]

[Can we meet tonight? I have to stop by Sky High first for work, but I’d really like to see you afterward.]

She pressed Send.

Then she checked the time.

Before boarding her flight, she’d received a call informing her that the next phase of the medical robotics project required detailed coordination with Horizon Medical’s development team.

Thinking about Horizon’s revolutionary robotic tumor surgery system, Samantha couldn’t help feeling a twinge of regret.

If only she’d been accepted onto the project’s core research team...

She would have been involved in one of the most groundbreaking medical technologies in the industry.

Fortunately, she had made another smart investment.

She owned a significant stake in Sky High Technologies, one of Horizon Medical’s primary component suppliers.

As Horizon expanded, Sky High’s value continued to climb.

By the end of the year, Samantha expected to receive an enormous return on her investment.

According to her most conservative estimate...

Her dividends alone would exceed eighty million dollars.

And that was only the beginning.

As Horizon Medical continued dominating the international market, Samantha’s investment in Sky High’s supply chain would generate even greater profits for years to come.

With that thought, her confidence slowly returned.

Whatever uncertainty lay ahead...

She still had money.

She still had influence.

And most importantly...

She still believed she hadn’t lost Ryan.

On the other hand, Rose had just dropped Ariel at Dr. Nathan’s house, when her phone rang.

It was a call from Caleb.

She answered immediately.

"Caleb."

"Made it back?"

"I did."

"Good."

His voice carried unmistakable excitement.

"I’ve got news."

Rose smiled.

"From your tone, I’m guessing it’s good."

"It’s better than good."

"The overseas launch exceeded every projection."

He laughed.

"Our robotic oncology system has officially broken into the North American market."

Rose leaned against her desk.

"How many confirmed orders?"

Caleb whistled softly.

"Enough to keep every production line running for the next nine months."

Even Rose looked surprised.

"That many?"

"And they’re still coming."

He paused before continuing.

"The Toronto Medical Alliance finalized their purchase this morning."

"Three more hospital groups are negotiating."

Rose felt months of pressure ease from her shoulders.

All those sleepless nights.

Every failed prototype.

Every redesign.

Every setback.

They had finally paid off.

"Congratulations."

Caleb laughed.

"You should be congratulating yourself."

"This project exists because you refused to give up."

Rose shook her head.

"It exists because everyone refused."

"Fair enough."

His tone became more serious.

"There’s another reason I called."

"The supply contracts."

Rose understood immediately.

"You’re talking about Sky High Technologies."

"Exactly."

"As Aster and Professor at NYU now, you can authorize everything directly."

"But several contract details still require face-to-face negotiation."

Rose glanced at the clock.

"I’ll handle it tonight."

"I’ve already reserved a private dining room."

"Perfect."

Caleb sounded relieved.

"I’ll be joining by video conference."

"I’m still in Toronto."

"No problem."

Rose ended the call.

On the other hand...

Samantha had just arrived at Sky High Technologies.

Before entering the building, she pulled out her phone once more.

Ryan still hadn’t replied to the message she’d sent earlier.

She hesitated before typing another.

[Ryan, I’m back in New York.]

[Can we have dinner tonight? There’s something important I need to tell you.]

She stared at the screen for several seconds.

Then...

Pressed Send.

Almost immediately, another call from her father came through.

"Samantha."

"Have you spoken with Ryan?"

"Not yet."

"You need to."

His tone was unusually urgent.

"The board meeting this morning was a disaster."

"Our investors are getting nervous."

"If Ryan agrees to help us..."

"We’ll survive this."

Samantha closed her eyes briefly.

"I understand."

"But I can’t force him."

"You’ve never needed to."

Her father sounded confident.

"He’ll do it for you."

After ending the call, Samantha remained seated inside her car for several moments.

Normally, hearing those words would have reassured her.

Today...

They only increased her anxiety.

She clenched the steering wheel.

"No."

"I’m not losing him."

She refused to believe it.
