Grace never worried about whether her words were appropriate.

Especially after concluding that Samantha wasn’t in a legitimate relationship with Ryan, she disliked her even more.

The sweet smile that had appeared on Samantha’s face when she first saw Grace instantly froze.

She couldn’t understand why Grace seemed to hold a grudge against her.

Even if she and Ryan weren’t officially married yet, that was their business. In terms of character and ability, she had nothing to be criticized for, and she couldn’t recall ever offending Grace.

Rose almost laughed in disbelief.

Ryan wasn’t denying that he had a wife, but he wasn’t willing to acknowledge that his wife was standing right there beside him.

Without even sparing Samantha a glance, she turned to Rose.

"Rose, quite a few R&D professionals from the industry are here today. If you’re free later, come chat with me."

Rose was surprised. "Sure. No problem."

Samantha frowned, utterly baffled.

Was Grace trying to introduce Rose to someone?

With her status, why would she go out of her way to help someone like Rose?

Ryan also glanced at Rose, understanding immediately what Grace was implying.

Since she still had guests to attend to, Grace didn’t stay long. After giving Rose a few instructions, she walked past Samantha and headed elsewhere.

"How did you win Dr. Grace’s favor?" Samantha asked with a frown.

Rose tilted her head. "It doesn’t matter how. What matters is that Dr. Grace has excellent judgment. She’d never support someone with poor character who acts like a scavenger, picking through other people’s leftovers."

The air fell silent for several seconds.

Samantha’s expression darkened instantly.

Rose was openly insulting her.

And by implication, she was insulting Ryan as well.

Ryan naturally understood the meaning behind her words.

His dark eyes settled on Rose’s face.

He wasn’t angry.

Instead, the corner of his mouth lifted slightly into an unreadable half-smile.

Rose acted as though she hadn’t noticed. Taking Diana by the arm, she turned to leave.

Even while being dragged away, Diana twisted around to look at Samantha.

With exaggerated helpfulness, she translated, "She’s calling you trash."

Even Oliver’s eyebrow twitched.

He knew Rose had never been particularly obedient, but speaking to Ryan so bluntly—

After all, given Ryan’s status, he had probably never been insulted like this in his life.

At that moment, James arrived after finishing some business elsewhere.

Walking directly up to Rose, he said, "We have a fairly large archery range on the property. A lot of G.S.’s partners are over there. Want to take a look?"

Diana, however, snorted. "No problem. Trevor will be here soon. With him leading the way, G.S. won’t be short on partners."

They soon arrived at their destination.

A separate outdoor archery range had been set up.
