Chapter 2165: Unexpected (2)

Su Yu did not hold back when making his demands.

"First, all fake dao cultivators are to serve under my command during this battle. They are going to be cannon fodder anyway. We might as well maximize their value by having them work with me. Second, hand me all your unused fake daos. I require them.

"Third, I recall hearing about a shit mountain or something refined into a treasure by the myriad races. I want this mountain.

"Fourth, I want all the chaos beast corpses. Fifth, all the assembly tokens will be mine. Sixth, provide ten thousand characters to me. Seventh..."

Everyone listened to the demands without interruption. When Su Yu was done speaking, Tiangu asked, "Which of those are your actual demands?"

Su Yu smiled.

Tiangu said, "The shit mountain you mentioned is probably the Divine Coiling Dragon Mountain in the hands of the dragon race. It is currently the personal weapon of Venerable Dragon. Very few people know about this. I believe this is one of your real demands.

"We can't hand you our fake dao cultivators. You made that demand even if it's unlikely to happen. In that case, your actual demand is probably those fake daos.

"Also, the assembly tokens aren't that useful to you anymore. I guess you care about the ten thousand characters more."

Tiangu started analyzing Su Yu's demands. As for Su Yu, he was gathering information. What the old turtle referred to as shit mountain was actually in the hands of Venerable Dragon.

Good. This was a very important piece of information to have.

That was something he must obtain. With the mountain in hand, the old turtle could advance into a Venerable. Thus, he wouldn't give up on it. As for his other demands, he didn't really care too much about them.

The myriad races could reject him, but he could always take what he wanted with his strength. The shit mountain was the only thing he couldn't gather easily. That was mainly because he didn't even know its actual location before this. But now, knowing its location was enough to make this whole thing worth it.

Of course, he was careful to not show his joy on his face. It would be even better if he could get it without a fight. But if that wasn't possible, he would take it himself.

Tiangu was obviously trying to shit-stir here.

But Su Yu did not mind that. He nodded and said, "Brother Tiangu knows me well. You are right. You got everything right."

But those words only served to confuse the myriad race representatives. Just what exactly did he want here?

Venerable Nether frowned and said, "Are you going to leave Control King's lineage alone if we refuse these demands?"

Su Yu laughed, "Of course not. They are our common enemies. How can I leave them alone? But maybe I will find myself too tired to keep fighting the moment their Master of Law emerges. You never know."

Everyone frowned upon hearing that. Venerable Scrape said, "Are you saying that you'll only fight if we pay you? But is there any guarantee that you'll actually face the Master of Law after receiving what you want? Also, can we stop Control King's lineage from actually summoning that Master of Law over?"

Su Yu nodded, "Good question. Yes, stopping the summon is still possible. But you still need to discuss among yourselves and come out with a resolution. This will take some time. If you ask me, the Master of Law will be out before you're done."

"As for the guarantee that I'll actually fight the Master of Law after receiving my payment..." Su Yu rubbed his chin and smiled, "That's a valid worry. How can I give you this guarantee? Any suggestions?"

Getting paid for doing nothing seemed quite attractive as well. Then again, Su Yu had been intending to let the dragon and tiger deal with the Master of Law all along. But he needed an excuse to make his demands, right?

As everyone hesitated, Tiangu said, "That won't be hard. When the Master of Law emerges, just make sure to kill a few of their Venerables. That will be enough to attract the attention of the Master of Law toward you, Human Lord."

Su Yu laughed and asked, "Are you saying that I'll fight first while you watch at the sidelines?"

Tiangu shook his head, "No. You're good at ambushing and assassination. Killing a few Venerables won't be a hard task for you."

Su Yu laughed again. "What am I getting out of this?"

Tiangu said nothing.

Su Yu said, "The myriad races are truly indecisive. You wish to cooperate, but you worry that I won't work after receiving my payment. But you also worry that I'll stab you at the back if you don't cooperate with me. You worry too much.

"To speak the truth, I don't even view you as a threat anymore. You can't do anything. You will always fail when it matters. You're too busy scheming against each other. Take the ancient human survivors as an example. You spent six thousand years hunting them down, but you still failed to fully exterminate them.

"Why? Were they that strong? No. You were merely too busy worrying about gains and losses, so nobody was willing to actually take action. Everyone was waiting for someone else to do the job."

Su Yu shook his head, "You won't change even when death looms. I acknowledge that humanity lacks unity. But humanity was once united while the myriad races have never been united."

After a short silence, Tiangu said, "You're right, but why is that so surprising? We would have submitted to humanity back then if we were willing to be led by a different race. Why bother resisting? Because we wanted to master our own fates.

"If we were to allow someone to rule us all now, our previous struggles would have been for nothing. We are better off following humanity."

Su Yu was stunned. Damn it! That made so much sense.

Tiangu continued, "We are only allied because humanity is strong. We are only allied for freedom. Human Lord, you believe we lack unity. But no. Each race is united. When we scheme against the other races, we only do it for the sake of our respective races. At the very least, our intra-race unity is much higher than humanity's."

Su Yu rubbed his chin and said, "But you're not doing so well right now. Are you not worried of something bad happening if this continues?"

Tiangu solemnly declared, "Joint-rule is the core principle of our alliance. You are viewing this from an entirely wrong angle. Dictatorship is what we're actually fighting. If we were to elect a dictator right now, our alliance would be rendered pointless.

"We understand the cons of our current practice. But the moment that happens, the other races will start wavering. They will think that they're better off submitting to humanity if they have to submit to the three major races.

"Of course, I don't deny that each race is also trying to be a leader as well. But it will remain a thought before we reach a unanimous decision about it."

The three major races wished to be the new dictator, but that wouldn't happen before they could ensure that they would smoothly become the second humanity. Otherwise, they would remain an alliance.

A dictator couldn't be allowed to appear when they were still an alliance. They couldn't risk ruining the core principle of their struggle against humanity. After all, humanity hadn't been too cruel toward the myriad races when it ruled. They only resisted because they yearned for freedom.

Even Su Yu sank into thought. He had always believed that the myriad races lacked a shot-caller. But Tiangu's words taught him something new.

Yes.

A shot-caller would only serve to replace humanity and ruin their core tenet. Everyone wanted to be the second humanity. That was why they could only remain an alliance. Understanding dawned on Su Yu.

He said, "I understand. Nobody is perfect. I have been seeing things from my own perspective. No wonder. You don't have a firm grasp over the other races, but that's because you don't want to risk pushing them back into the embrace of humanity."

Su Yu smiled, "In other words, you are already at the highest level of unity you can reach in this form."

Su Yu had learned something new from Tiangu's words. It wasn't that they couldn't pick a shot-caller, but it would do more harm than good. Nobody was willing to bow to a different race. That was why they had risen up against humanity in the first place.

Su Yu acknowledged that he had not been thorough enough in his considerations. Of course, Tiangu and the others did not care whether Su Yu understood them or not. His criticism of the myriad races came from a place of ignorance.

The current state of the myriad races was already the best they could achieve in their current form.

Su Yu said, "Sure. I'll acknowledge that your current policies aren't wrong. Dictatorship is simply not possible for you right now. So? What are your thoughts about my demands? If you agree, I am ready to fight at any moment. I can even serve as the vanguard. You only need to follow behind me. Just make sure to not withdraw when I start fighting. That wouldn't be fun for me. And if you reject all my demands, then we'll just have to act independently, I'm afraid."

Should they make Su Yu their vanguard? Or should they fight independently? That was the main reason they had visited him.

Venerable Moon said, "Human Lord Su, you're asking for too much. We can reach an agreement, but you need to be forthright and tell us what your actual demands are. We can then consider it."

After some thought, Su Yu said, "I'll reduce the demands for you and keep only three. Shit mountain, fake daos, and ten thousand characters. Thank Tiangu for making the choice for me! If you agree to all three, I'll get to work anytime you want!"

Tiangu was left speechless.

Doubt grew in him as he started wondering of these were really what Su Yu wanted. Or were these demands inconsequential and he was merely looking for an excuse to work with them. This was troubling. Su Yu was still as unpredictable as ever.
