Chapter 1149: Chapter 465: Corpse Core

World Scar.

In one of the caves at the foot of the mountains in the Ghost Soul Mountain Range, Alka and the others were resting inside.

Alka leaned against the side of the cave, sitting on his sleeping bag while looking at the map in his hand.

All the blue points on the map had been checked by him, and among them were a total of four points where elemental cores of the Stonehoof Race’s half-elemental creatures had been left after their death.

This was different from what the Elder said, which was three, clearly there’s one more.

"Is there a problem with that map you’ve been looking at?" Chadite, sitting beside him, asked as he looked at Alka.

Hearing this, Alka looked up at her and said, "It’s a bit different, because I’ve sensed the aura of four elemental cores on the map, not the three that the Elder mentioned. Is there a problem somewhere?"

"Having one more is normal, right? Maybe he just knows about those three that died. Perhaps he thinks the other one didn’t die yet, who knows." Pororo said from the side.

Julia shook her head upon hearing this: "No, it shouldn’t be like that.

Their population is too few, you all should be able to see, just a few hundred.

As one of the leaders of the race, this Elder can’t possibly miscount the people, right?

Every member is an exceptionally precious existence, missing even one could be a huge incident."

Alka nodded; that’s exactly what he thought.

How could it be that someone died and he didn’t know?

This could only happen when there are too many people.

Just like in a village, everyone knows each other, if someone suddenly isn’t there, how could no one know?

"Unexpected situations can be so many, and we don’t understand this race very well, do we?" Chadite said from the side.

The group nodded; indeed, that was the case.

While they chatted, the darkness outside dissipated. In an instant, light illuminated the mountain range.

It was dawn.

"Let’s go around, we’re heading there." Alka pointed at the map and said.

That was the nearest blue point discovered by them, where the Crystal Stone they needed to retrieve was kept.

Chadite waved her hand gently, and a very small, moon-like shape about the size of a head appeared above them.

The moon emitted a cool light, just enough to cover them beneath its glow.

Beneath this moonlight, the group began to move forward.

If it weren’t for this moon, they would be incessantly harassed by all kinds of Evil Spirits as they traversed the mountains, far more than they imagined.

Especially those weaker yet terribly annoying Evil Spirits, constantly pestering them.

But the moon conjured by Chadite could effectively repel these Evil Spirits, and unless they were of a higher level, those Evil Spirits wouldn’t even dare to approach.

Because most Evil Spirits were around the Second Stage, seeing very few of the Third Stage.

This could be because they were in the outskirts.

The thing about Evil Spirits is that they’re annoyingly difficult to clear away.

We can only employ various means to disperse them, especially in high magic power areas like the Endless Sea.

The Evil Spirits here are much harder to get rid of than those Alka encountered in the Homeland Sea.

"They’re back again."

Pororo, staring at a set of blood-red eyes in a pile of rubble, commented irritably.

Hearing Pororo’s remark, Alka turned his head to glance at the corner where the blood-red eyes were.

"What are you staring at? Come over and bite me if you can."

"Hiss~"

The Evil Spirit hiding in the dark corner hissed threateningly, but did not rush out at Alka’s words.

"It seems these Evil Spirits still possess basic intelligence," Alka remarked while watching the Evil Spirit.

They feared the moonlight and showed signs of fear.

Besides this one, Alka noticed another one in the crevice of another piece of rubble not far away, much bolder than the former.

Under the sunlight, it almost stuck its head out, opening a mouth full of sharp teeth.

With its child-like face, it looked extraordinarily terrifying.

"I know that one." Lucilia pointed at the Evil Spirit watching them from not far away.

Upon hearing this, Alka blinked at the Evil Spirit; it seemed to be around the Third Stage in strength.

"I killed it before," Lucilia said, a blood-colored Flying Blade appearing in her hand, which she then threw.

Seeing the blood-colored Flying Blade, the Evil Spirit immediately dissipated on the spot, vanishing from sight.

Evidently, it recognized the attack.

"It seems these Evil Spirits aren’t so easy to destroy, is it due to the environment here?" Chadite couldn’t help but ask.

Because as they proceeded, more and more Evil Spirits appeared all around them. He even saw one or two Evil Spirits he had eliminated yesterday.

If these Evil Spirits looked different, then it should be the same ones from yesterday, now resurrected, even though they had used the Holy Mother’s power to deal with them.

The Holy Mother’s power had miraculous effects on these Evil Spirits.

There shouldn’t be an issue of not being able to cleanse them thoroughly.

"So it’s because these Evil Spirits are hard to eliminate that this area remains here?" Alka said.

After all, this could be considered as the rear, not too far from the frontline and various safe roads.
