Chapter 1097: Chapter 1095: Worthy of Entrusting My Daughter’s Life

Zhu Qianyu led Chen Jing into the house, where Aunt Guan came out to greet her before turning back to the kitchen to continue her work.

Chen Jing realized that she hadn’t brought any gifts except for a bag of candies, and thought she should help out in the kitchen.

Zhu Qianyu stopped her, "Mom, you’ll be staying here tomorrow anyway, so we can cook together then. For today, let Aunt Guan handle it."

Chen Jing hesitated for a moment but eventually followed her daughter’s advice, obediently staying in the living room to play with the pair of little treasures.

Though she was supposed to be accompanying them, Chen Jing felt it was more like the little treasures were playing with her and her daughter.

"Xiao Yu, has your sister met them?"

Taking advantage of the pair of little treasures chasing a remote-control car away, Chen Jing softly asked Zhu Qianyu.

Zhu Qianyu shook her head, "Sister has met Ji Huan but hasn’t met Uncle Ji and Aunt Tong. Don’t worry, Mom, they won’t judge people with biased views."

Zhu Qianyu and her mother played with the little treasures for more than half an hour, when the sound of an engine starting echoed from outside.

"Grandpa and grandma!" The pair of little treasures seemed to have sharper discernment than adults, accurately identifying who had returned just by the sound of the car.

Zhu Qianyu and Chen Jing walked out to the yard, and sure enough, saw Ji Rui and Le Tong walking in side by side.

Chen Jing felt slightly awkward as she approached Mr. and Mrs. Ji, who had the two little troublemakers clinging to their legs, and greeted them, "Mr. Ji, President Le."

Ji Rui and Le Tong looked at her together, with Le Tong smilingly extending her hand, "Ah Jing, is it okay if I call you that? Xiao Yu said you’re a few years younger than me, so you should call me Sister Tong! Just call him Brother Ji!"

Such an amiable Le Tong was indeed worlds apart from the aggressive President Le seen in the morning.

Perhaps the difference was too stark; Chen Jing didn’t adapt immediately, only coming to her senses when Zhu Qianyu nudged her arm, extending her hand to shake Le Tong’s.

"No problem, no problem. Xiao Yu has been troubling Brother Ji and Sister Tong, thank you for taking care of her!" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

With Le Tong and Ji Rui’s amiable attitude, Chen Jing also felt much more at ease.

"Ah Jing, what are you talking about? Xiao Yu is Xiao Huan’s girlfriend, so she’s one of us. We don’t consider it a bother. Xiao Yu is quite capable, always making Beibei and Guoguo happy, preparing different desserts to delight our palates; if anything, we’d argue it’s us who should feel troublesome to her."

"Grandmother, swing!"

Guoguo, who was in Le Tong’s arms, pointed at the swing under the big tree with a toddler’s voice.

Le Tong glanced at Ji Rui, "Daddy, give Beibei to Ah Jing. We’ll take the little ones to the swing."

Ji Rui handed Beibei to Chen Jing and went into the house himself, while Zhu Qianyu accompanied the two mothers and the pair of little ones to the swing.

"Ah Jing, did I scare you this morning? Sorry, under the circumstances, Old Ji, Da Bao, and I had no choice but to act that way to keep them under control."

Standing under the big tree, Le Tong apologized for her aggressive attitude that morning, assuring Chen Jing, even though she wasn’t the target, she didn’t want Chen Jing to misunderstand.

Chen Jing hurriedly shook her head, "Sister Tong, don’t say that. Everything you said was reasonable, not a word of defamation; honestly, I should have spoken some just words on your behalf."

Le Tong patted her shoulder, "We understand your situation, so at the time, we had to try to overlook your presence. If anything was said wrong, don’t take it to heart. Xiao Yu and Xiao Huan have a great relationship. I don’t want misunderstandings among us elders to affect the young couple’s feelings."

Listening to Le Tong’s words, Chen Jing finally understood what her daughter had conveyed.

This Le Tong was indeed a woman who distinguished right from wrong.

In essence, she and Chen Jing were truly opposite individuals.

She’s strong, independent, and assertive, while Chen Jing was indecisive, preferring to rely on others...

"Sister Tong, truth be told, I’m ashamed. Xiao Yu and Ying’er have endured quite some grievances and hardships since childhood at the Zhu Family, and it’s all my responsibility. I always thought the father held up the family, but meeting you today made me realize how wrong I was!"

At this moment, Chen Jing felt regretful and blamed herself for neglecting her daughters for twenty years over a man.

Le Tong originally had some opinions about Chen Jing, but hearing her remorse, she vaguely perceived there might have been a conflict between her and Zhu Zhizhou after returning.

Le Tong didn’t know that Chen Jing had a direct confrontation with the Zhu Family over her elder daughter Zhu Qianying’s marriage; since then, she became completely disillusioned with them.

Being disillusioned, those truths she pretended not to see or deliberately ignored now seemed clear as day upon reflection; she could no longer remain ignorant.

"Ah Jing, rest assured, Xiao Yu is a good kid, your elder daughter, Shadow, I haven’t met her, but from what Xiao Huan said, Shadow is a very independent and strong girl. So you should feel proud to have such strong and sensible daughters. The past is past, mistakes are made, but what’s crucial is to turn back timely. From now on, with Xiao Yu, Xiao Huan, and Shadow caring for you, don’t worry too much!"

Le Tong was smart enough; though Zhu Qianyu hadn’t mentioned why Chen Jing found her way to R University, Le Tong pieced it all together, perceiving Chen Jing’s likely difficult situation at the Zhu Family.

Chen Jing also understood Le Tong’s meaning.

"Thank you, Sister Tong, for the reminder. Earlier, I talked with Xiao Yu and Ying’er about this matter; tomorrow, Ying’er will come to visit you all. After returning, I won’t go back to the Zhu Family anymore since it serves no purpose!"

Chen Jing hadn’t expected that the goal she had held on to for twenty-one years would bring such ease and tranquility upon deciding to let go.

"Mom, understanding this reassures sister and me!"

Zhu Qianyu, who had been watching over the pair of little ones now that Beibei and Guoguo had left the swing and were crawling on the grass, not knowing what they were looking for, turned and spoke to her mom.

Chen Jing gently embraced her daughter, "Xiao Yu, Mom was wrong! From now on, I won’t be confused anymore! We’ll just take care of each other moving forward!"

Seeing the mother-daughter embrace, Le Tong felt her eyes burning, wiping the corners of her eyes.

"Sister Tong, please take care of Xiao Yu afterwards. Of course, Ying’er and I will try to spend more time with her."

Although her daughter hadn’t reached the marriage discussion stage with Le Tong’s son, and Chen Jing hadn’t met Ji Huan yet, she felt assured that with such a family, Ji Huan would undoubtedly be a good man worthy of her daughter’s trust for life.
