“Why so serious about this?”

With just over ten minutes before the first class started, Zhang Shaoqing and Wang Jie lazily walked into the classroom.

He immediately spotted Ning Chu, who was seriously flipping through her book and taking notes. He scoffed, “Stop reading, come redo the course with me. What’s so interesting about that?”

“Go away, I’d rather not redo the course with you.”

Ning Chu didn’t even look up, just waved her hand dismissively, like swatting away an annoying bug.

She had no interest in coming back to school for a make-up exam or to redo courses during her senior internship. That would be way too troublesome.

A few minutes later, Zhang Shaoqing couldn’t help but peek over and ask, “Hey, can I borrow Wen Yang’s notes too?”

“No!”

“Greedy!”

“I worked hard to get those notes, alright? Why should I give them to you for free?”

Her mood to study had just begun, but Zhang Shaoqing’s interruption ruined it. Ning Chu responded with irritation, and then, feeling a little petty, she carefully shielded her notes from him, not letting him sneak a peek.

Wen Yang’s notes were hard-earned. Last night, she had disguised herself as a cat-girl, meowing so much that her throat went sore, just to get them.

As the semester neared its end, the class finally had a bit of a studying atmosphere. Before the lecture began, the usual noisy students were now earnestly cramming. Even the usually energetic Yan Xinxia was studying with Lili’s notes, while the academic underachiever, Xinxia, was grinding away with her head buried in books.

Wen Yang, leisurely as always, answered Ning Chu’s questions from time to time. Lili was diligently flipping through past years’ graduate exam papers in preparation for her own exams.

“Why isn’t there any spell for photographic memory~”

Xinxia sighed in frustration, resting her head on the desk, her eyes glazed over.

“Spell? Xinxia, have you gone crazy from studying?” Yan Xinxia muttered before her eyes suddenly lit up, and she asked eagerly, “Have you gotten close to that handsome guy?”

“No, there’s no way it’s that quick...” Xinxia, doubting that her crush could be into her, constantly complained. “I asked him out yesterday, but he said he was busy.”

“Don’t rush. You’ve barely met a few times. If he gave in too easily, then he must be a pervert, and he was only after your body from the start,” the wolf girl, who loved pairing up couples, teased. “Want me to help? I’m an expert wingman! When Wen Yang pursued Ning Chu, I was at least 80% responsible for that!”

Ning Chu, overhearing, silently rolled her eyes.

If it weren’t for the wolf girl meddling, she wouldn’t have fallen for Wen Yang so quickly.

From completely turning into a girl to accepting that she liked men, the wolf girl had an undeniable hand in it! It certainly wasn’t her own fault.

Looking at it from another perspective, this girl was practically her enemy! But since she was kind-hearted, she didn’t press the issue.

The class bell rang, and Ning Chu put away her notebook, but to her surprise, the professor was nowhere to be found.

The classroom grew increasingly noisy, and she turned to ask Yan Xinxia.

“Xinxia, is there any notice?”

“Let me check... The counselor just sent a notice. The professor had some urgent business and took the day off, so we’re all free to go home.”

“Really~ I should’ve just stayed in bed longer.”

This kind of thing had happened before, so though it wasn’t surprising, Ning Chu still complained.

Zhang Shaoqing cursed and grabbed his textbook, standing up. “Damn! I actually came to class for once! I’m going back to play games!”

Wang Jie quietly packed up his books, but as he stood up, Ning Chu called out to him.

“Wang Jie! What’s going on with you and your girlfriend?”

He froze for a moment, lowering his head and silently walking out of the classroom.

“Did they break up?” Ning Chu muttered with some concern as she watched him leave. “It’s just a fight... They’ve been dating for years, and I’ve never heard them argue before.”

“Maybe this time, the problem just blew up all at once?” Wen Yang speculated.

“Maybe?”

He smiled and ruffled Ning Chu’s hair as he noticed the worried look on her face. “Let’s go, let’s head to the library.”

“Wait, Wang Jie...”

“Let him handle his own business. Why do you always want to be everyone’s counselor?”

“Well, not really, but you could invite him for a drink sometime. Wang Jie’s kind of withdrawn. He needs to let off some steam with a drink.”

When Ning Chu first started caring about her roommates, it was because she didn’t want them to end up like the characters in Little Emperor Literature, forcing her to become the supporting female character who’s always surrounded by men.

But now, she had already become a succubus, the main female lead, and her concern for Wang Jie was purely because they had been friends for years.

“Alright, after class tonight, I’ll go buy some drinks and take them back to the dorm. Zhang Shaoqing’s been annoying lately, we can deal with it all at once.”

“Don’t get drunk.”

As they talked, the two of them packed their books and started walking toward the library, with Lili following closely behind, holding the graduate exam papers in her arms.

Ning Chu slowed down her pace and walked beside Lili, asking, “What about Xinxia and Xinxia?”

“They don’t like to study.”

“Have you found your grad school advisor?”

Lili shook her head blankly. With her personality, approaching a stranger to communicate was almost impossible.

“I’ve heard it’s better to find one early...”

She tapped her head lightly, keeping her usual stoic expression and saying nothing.

The library was mostly empty, with only a few people scattered around in the reading area.

Lili excitedly dropped her books and dove into the shelves, and before long, she found another Little Emperor’s Book. It was like she’d struck gold and happily flipped through the pages.

The library was huge, and over the years, Lili still managed to find some odd books every now and then, keeping her weird interests alive.

Ning Chu, curious, walked over to join her. The two succubi began quietly discussing the contents of the book, and anyone who didn’t know them would think they were just two studious girls.

For succubi, this was indeed a form of learning.

Wen Yang, sitting across from them, had long since gotten used to such scenes, but he still reminded them, “Ning Chu, you don’t want to fail your finals, do you?”

“Eh! What’s wrong with taking a break...”

Ning Chu sulked as she returned to Wen Yang’s side, rubbing her temples in frustration. “It’s so hard~ You teach me.”

“Alright, focus, don’t keep zoning out.” 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

“Zoning out is because you’re so boring to listen to~”

Thankfully, the library was a public place, so when the succubi zoned out, they’d just mess around on their phones instead of trying to provoke Wen Yang, turning the lesson into a simple way to extract his essence.

But as they continued, even though they had kept some distance, the two of them couldn’t help but move closer and attract each other.

When Lili looked up, she saw Ning Chu almost sitting on Wen Yang’s lap, her face flushed with a pink tint.

I can’t even look at this...

“You’re in public, aren’t you embarrassed?”

She muttered bitterly, ✧ NоvеIight ✧ (Original source) but Ning Chu’s sharp ears caught her words.

“Why don’t you go find yourself a boyfriend, huh?”

“I don’t need one. I hate men.”
