Ning Chu didn’t quite understand why, after turning into a girl, her ability to control her emotions had decreased so much compared to before.
In the past, if something like this had happened, she would have preferred to hide everything in her heart, rather than letting it show on her face, and certainly not complain to her friends.
It was just like when she first arrived in this world; she would get upset and isolate herself, escaping whenever she could. If that didn’t work, she would grit her teeth and endure, even if the outcome was something she didn’t want to face.
It wasn’t just because her physical structure had changed...
She sat on the couch, staring at the chaotic game battle on the big screen, but her peripheral vision quietly shifted toward Wen Yang.
Perhaps it was because of Wen Yang?
It wasn’t that she used to want to be alone or didn’t have someone to talk to. She just hadn’t met him yet.
Wen Yang, who had been sitting next to Zhang Shaoqing, suddenly stood up and moved to sit beside Ning Chu.
He didn’t try to comfort her or discuss the problem. He just sat quietly beside her, watching the game on the screen.
Ning Chu lowered her eyes, pressing her lips together as she rested her head on his broad shoulder. She gently closed her eyes, feeling a steady stream of warmth and safety from Wen Yang, filling her heart and pushing away the cold anxiety.
After spending so much time together, Wen Yang understood her nature.
He knew that sometimes, all she needed was someone to silently stay by her side.
"Tomorrow, I’ll go back for a while," Ning Chu said after a long silence. "My mom mentioned this, she probably wants me to go back and keep her company."
"Mm."
"Come with me."
Wen Yang nodded, as if it were a given. "What else would I do?"
"You better behave well this time and try to get my mom to see you as a son-in-law!"
He suddenly felt the weight of the task at hand, but answered seriously, "Don’t worry."
"The guy’s probably some spineless dog, probably nearing fifty. If he causes trouble, you can throw him out! I want to see what he came back for!"
But her father had likely been taking advantage of her mother for years, so he probably had a good foundation... but after all these years, he must have been drained dry.
It was clear that her own "hero" was much better!
"Just do as you said. If he causes trouble, break his legs and throw him out!"
Wen Yang agreed with Ning Chu’s words.
"Right! Break his legs!"
Ning Chu clenched her small fist, swinging it with determination.
No matter what he came back for, if he made her upset or made her mother upset, Wen Yang would take care of it!
Standing at almost six feet three, Wen Yang might not be built like a bear, but his size was enough to make anyone in the south think twice before messing with him.
Ning Chu paused, lowered her head, and reached out to lift Wen Yang’s shirt.
When she suddenly pressed her face to his abdomen, her warm breath brushing against his skin, Wen Yang looked a bit flustered and quickly glanced at the others, "What are you doing?"
"Mm... there’s a layer of fat on your stomach! What if you can’t fight?"
"It’s fine."
Wen Yang ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) quickly sat up straight, inhaling and tightening his stomach, the little extra flesh on his abdomen disappearing instantly, revealing faint outlines of his abs.
"Doesn’t count... I’ll check tomorrow, tonight’s fine."
Ning Chu blushed, mumbling as she let go of his shirt.
Wow~ Those abs were enough to make anyone drool! Slurp~ I can’t let other women see this!
While most people need to work out every day to maintain a physique like Wen Yang’s, Wen Yang only needed her quick thinking when she set up a character in Xiao Huangwen to have a strong, energetic boyfriend~
"Ugh! Damn, it’s so hard!" Zhang Shaoqing’s character died again, and he cursed as he turned to look, "Stop showing off your love! Come help me beat this boss!"
Wen Yang glanced at Ning Chu and, seeing her nod, stood up to join him, "Why are you so bad?"
"This game is toxic! What does my skill have to do with it?!"
"You're bad, stop arguing."
Ning Chu joined in with a mock-complaint.
"Dammit, at least Qianqian’s playing Mahjong!"
"Ning Chu! Want to play Mahjong? Come over and I’ll teach you!"
Just as Qianqian’s name was mentioned, she looked up from across the room and called out.
In the space between the sofa and the open kitchen, the other girls had practically driven Qianqian to tears with Mahjong.
She couldn’t understand why her luck was so bad.
"I’m not very good at it..."
Although Ning Chu had played Japanese Mahjong online, bloodshed and all, she hadn’t actually played much offline.
"Come on, I’ll teach you. If you lose, it’s on me."
"Fine..."
Seeing that Wen Yang was focused on his game, Ning Chu got up and walked toward the Mahjong table.
As she arrived, Qianqian enthusiastically pressed her hand on Ning Chu’s shoulder and plopped down into the chair.
"Come, I’ll teach you~ Just follow Lily’s lead and draw tiles..."
Qianqian eagerly explained the rules, but then glanced around the table at the other three, asking, "How much did I lose this time? Yesterday, it was over a hundred?"
"About seventy?" Yan Xinya teased, grinning, "Her luck is so bad, she hasn’t even won once."
Qianqian sighed, "I feel bad winning against Qianqian, I’m afraid she’ll deduct points from me at the end of the semester."
"..."
Luckily, they were playing with small stakes, or Zhang Shaoqing’s living expenses might have been lost.
While the others were excitedly chatting as they played, talking about everything from cosmetics to TV shows, and romance novels to handsome men, Ning Chu stayed silent, having no way to join in. Without the helpful prompts from the computer, everything was on her, and her brain was overwhelmed as she stared blankly at her hand.
"Eh? I won!"
Suddenly, Qianqian called out and pushed Ning Chu’s tiles onto the table.
"Ning Chu, you have good luck!"
"Ah?" Ning Chu looked up in confusion.
She stared at the tiles, now in the center of the table, realizing that she had almost gotten stuck in the game for too long.
"By the way, when are we leaving for the beach?"
"At four, right?"
She pointed to the digital clock on the wall of the living room, "It’s already four-thirty."
Yan Xinya froze for a second, then turned and glanced at the time before suddenly jumping up. "Stop playing, stop playing! We’re going camping! It’s almost dark!"
"How has time passed so quickly~"
Lily nodded with the same sentiment. "Yeah..."
She couldn’t understand why they were so obsessed with Mahjong.
Ning Chu sighed in relief, glad to escape the Mahjong game.
"Let’s bring the Mahjong set with us!" someone suggested.
"???"
You’re bringing a Mahjong set to the beach to play on the sand?
