After getting her nails done, Ning Chu was visibly in high spirits.
Her tail tip swayed happily under her skirt, her steps light and bouncy. Her eyebrows curved in delight, and her eyes sparkled like stars.
She couldn’t stop running her thumb over her nails, enjoying the smooth, glossy surface. The shimmering pink hue caught her gaze repeatedly, and whenever she held Wen Yang’s hand, she would purposefully brush her nails against his palm.
“Quit it, it’s ticklish.”
“Look at my nails~”
“They’re nice, very nice.”
“Right? I knew this color was perfect!”
Even when she was a man, Ning Chu had always been drawn to pretty, cute things, though back then, she didn’t dare express it outwardly. Now, as a proper girl, she had every reason to indulge her preferences.
Though she was still a somewhat mischievous succubus...
Now, she could dress however she wanted—whether it was something elegant, sexy, or flamboyant. With her current figure and looks, anything that didn’t stray too far from common aesthetics would suit her beautifully.
Men, of course, could also wear pretty clothes, but it wasn’t mainstream. Even wearing something pink might earn odd looks.
But now, others only looked at her with admiration and envy.
Fully embracing life as a beautiful woman, Ning Chu had only one lingering thought: If only being a woman didn’t involve pregnancy and childbirth.
She’d heard it was excruciatingly painful, and nine months of carrying a baby would completely ruin her figure.
The very idea of pregnancy repulsed her, especially considering she used to be a man. It felt like the ultimate form of surrender to femininity—a fate she absolutely refused to accept.
After one close call, Ning Chu had become meticulous about precautions. Even last night, at the hotel, when Wen Yang didn’t have the right protection, she immediately took a morning-after pill.
Mental note: Always keep Wen Yang’s "equipment" in my purse.
“Wen Yang, what if I decide I don’t want kids in the future...” she mused aloud, her thoughts wandering. Her face lit up with hope as she sought Wen Yang’s opinion.
“Then we won’t have kids,” Wen Yang replied nonchalantly, shrugging.
He didn’t care much about continuing the family line. He couldn’t even remember the last time he’d thought about his long-deceased parents.
“Really?”
Ning Chu nodded enthusiastically.
Consensus achieved! No kids!
“I hate kids! They’re so annoying!” She wrinkled her nose in distaste. “What if they end up with my personality? I’d die from the frustration!”
“Come on, your mom didn’t seem to have a problem with you, did she?”
“That’s because she was always busy working! She was hardly around!”
Wen Yang chuckled, nodding in agreement. “Alright, no kids it is.”
“Right? Kids are such a hassle! Even Black Bean, as cute and well-behaved as he is, drives my mom crazy. She complains to me every other day!”
While Ning Chu generally disliked children, Black Bean—their adorable, cat-eared and tailed neighbor—was the one exception. His cuteness and good manners made him tolerable.
Aside from him, Ning Chu had always been firmly against children.
As they strolled, stopping occasionally, Ning Chu’s attention was soon caught by a nearby clothing store. Her wide eyes sparkled as she admired the pretty outfits in the display window.
“I don’t have many summer dresses.”
Her summer wardrobe was sparse, consisting of a few outfits. Wen Yang had given her a JK uniform, and her mother had bought her two sets when she first came home as a girl. Other than that, she had nothing.
“If you like something, let’s get it. That one looks nice,” Wen Yang suggested, pointing at a dress in the window.
“A spaghetti-strap dress? Isn’t it a bit too revealing?”
“Is it?”
She imagined herself in the dress, unintentionally revealing a hint of cleavage, and her face quickly turned crimson.
Though this world’s fashion was more daring than what she was used to, Ning Chu still hadn’t fully adapted. Even as a succubus, she wasn’t ready to embrace that level of boldness.
Much like how she didn’t intend to follow the trend of couples openly making out in public, even though it was common on campus.
“Then just wear it at home for me?” Wen Yang leaned down and whispered teasingly in her ear.
“Might as well go for lingerie then~” Ning Chu mumbled under her breath. Grabbing his arm, she pulled him toward the mall. “Let’s go to the movies. It’s not summer yet, so no rush to buy clothes.”
“Alright. What do you want to watch?”
“I’ve already picked! A horror movie!”
“???”
Wen Yang’s mouth twitched, question marks practically floating above his head. “You’re not even into horror movies, are you?”
After multiple experiments, he’d long discovered that Ning Chu had nerves of steel when it came to horror. Whether it was scary movies or games, she watched and played them without batting an eye.
“The reviews online said it’s super scary! Come on, it’ll be fun!”
“Fun for you, maybe,” Wen Yang sighed in resignation. “Fine, I’ll keep you company.”
“Don’t look so grim!” Ning Chu teased, poking his cheek with a grin. “You’re a grown man! What’s there to be afraid of?”
“...”
In the end, Wen Yang accompanied her into the horror movie screening.
Though the movie had great reviews online, there were only a handful of showings, and the theater was nearly empty. Only seven or eight people were scattered throughout the room. Ning Chu and Wen Yang chose seats toward the back, away from others.
This gave Ning Chu the freedom to let her tail out from under her skirt. She kicked her feet up onto Wen Yang’s lap and lounged comfortably, half-lying on the seat with # Nоvеlight # a bucket of popcorn in her arms.
As the movie began and eerie background music filled the room, Wen Yang’s expression grew tense. He glanced at Ning Chu, only to see her munching on popcorn like a hamster, her cheeks puffed out.
He couldn’t understand her fascination with horror movies.
The film opened with a classic jump scare, sending shivers down everyone’s spines and immediately pulling the audience into its ominous atmosphere.
Ning Chu perked up, adjusting her posture to sit properly. She stared intently at the screen, and as the suspense built, she unconsciously leaned closer to Wen Yang, clutching his arm as her shoulders trembled slightly.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s so scary...”
“...”
Wen Yang’s face was pale. Though he was too frightened to look directly at the screen, the soft, trembling figure in his arms filled him with an unexpected surge of courage. His voice was steady as he reassured her, “It’s okay. I’m here.”
In that moment, he felt like a hero, Ning Chu’s knight in shining armor.
“Mm~”
Ning Chu buried her face in his chest. As Wen Yang stroked her hair to comfort her, she played along, shivering even more.
“AH!!!”
A sudden scream pierced the air, making Wen Yang’s ears ring.
If he guessed correctly, it was the girl in front of them who screamed first, followed by Ning Chu’s delayed reaction.
Though he was terrified himself, he pretended to stay calm, pulling Ning Chu closer to protect her.
Poor kid, she’s so scared her reactions are lagging...
Ning Chu silently marveled at how girls tended to act more timid, especially in the presence of men.
She stifled a laugh, maintaining her act. Peeking at the screen now and then, she would squeal and bury her face in Wen Yang’s chest, enjoying his comforting embrace.
By the end of the movie, Wen Yang’s ears were practically ringing.
