Around 5 PM, Ning Chu, having been playing on her computer in the bedroom, made her way to the living room to wait.

She curled up on the couch, covering herself with a blanket, mindlessly scrolling through her phone.

The weather was getting colder by the day.

Without heating, even indoors, her face would turn red from the chill. Despite wearing thick woolen socks, her feet remained icy cold.

Her ears and toes had already become red and swollen from frostbite, with her toes looking almost like carrots.

The old man, her mother’s boyfriend, came into the living room, carrying a slightly old-fashioned electric heater. He plugged it in and placed it on the coffee table. As the heater gradually turned red and began emitting warmth, he sat beside the table, placing a small kettle on top of the heater and retrieving some tea leaves and cups from underneath.

“Want some tea?” the old man asked.

This was the first time he had directly spoken to Ning Chu. She felt a little awkward and unsure of how to respond.

“No, thank you,” she answered.

“Why don’t you go lie down in bed to warm up?” the old man suggested as he watched the water boil.

“I can’t stay still for long,” Ning Chu replied, her eyes drifting toward the front door. Yesterday, Wen Yang had arrived around this time, but today he seemed to be running late.

She glanced toward the kitchen, where her mother was humming happily as she wiped down the counters, her phone playing a live stream from Douyin in the background.

Her mother’s mood was always visibly better whenever the old man was around.

As for Hei Dou, that mischievous cat girl, after finishing her homework from her tutoring class, she had become completely engrossed in the practice books Wen Yang had bought her. Ning Chu now owed her nearly ten meals for her efforts.

At least Hei Dou only had one stomach to feed.

Suddenly, Ning Chu heard the faint sound of an elevator opening outside the hallway.

Eagerly, she jumped up and ran to the door, just in time to hear a knock.

She slowed her pace, hiding her excitement as her face calmed down, and after a brief pause behind the door, she opened it casually.

“Wen Yang~” Her voice carried a slight upward lilt, unable to hide her delight.

As soon as Wen Yang saw the little succubus, a soft smile appeared on his face.

"I saw a street vendor selling roujiamo on the way here, so I bought one for you." He said as he removed his shoes, pulling the sandwich from his coat pocket. "There was a long line, and they seemed to give a lot of meat, so I think it should taste pretty good."

"What about Hei Dou?" Ning Chu asked.

“I, uh... forgot about her.”

As Ning Chu stepped aside to let Wen Yang in, he noticed the old man sitting by the coffee table.

Wen Yang’s smile faltered briefly, and he leaned over to whisper in Ning Chu’s ear, "Who’s that?"

"My mom’s boyfriend," Ning Chu whispered back.

“I figured as much...”

Just when Wen Yang had started to gain some favor from his future mother-in-law, now there was a potential future father-in-law to contend with?

“Don’t worry, he doesn’t really have any say over me. He’s in a similar position to you. I’ve only met him twice,” Ning Chu reassured him.

Both Wen Yang and the old man had to navigate the tricky waters of being accepted into Ning Chu’s family without being disliked or rejected.

“Ah, I see..."

The old man glanced over and gave Wen Yang a polite nod and smile. Despite having a stern, principal-like appearance, his demeanor was actually quite gentle.

“Oh, Wen Yang is here!” Ning Chu’s mother called out as she walked out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron. "Go sit by the heater for a bit. Dinner will be ready in about an hour."

She turned to the old man and added, “Hey, come help me in the kitchen. No more tea brewing.”

The old man sighed, reluctantly getting up from his seat and casting one last longing glance at the tea set before heading into the kitchen.

"Mom’s got him completely wrapped around her finger," Ning Chu giggled as she pulled Wen Yang to sit on the couch with her, leaning in to share some gossip. "Did you know they’ve been sneaking around since I was in middle school? We only found out a few days ago."

"And get this—it all started with online dating! Can you believe that? Back when I was in middle school, she wouldn’t even let me touch the computer, yet she was out here getting into online romances!"

"Hei Dou met him before I did! That little traitor already calls him ‘Dad.’ All it took was some snacks, and she’s sold out completely."

"Oh, and I owe Hei Dou almost ten meals by now. You’re on your own with that! She’s almost finished a whole practice book!"

It was rare for Ning Chu to be so chatty, almost like a sparrow chirping away. Her eyes sparkled with gossip, and Wen Yang couldn’t even find a moment to get a word in.

Sitting on the couch, Wen Yang watched her excitedly ramble on, unconsciously leaning closer to him. Before he knew it, her soft body was practically pressed against his arm, almost sitting on his lap.

He felt his body stir and, realizing it might get out of hand, he quickly stood up, putting a bit of distance between them. “We shouldn’t let your mom see us like this.”

“Huh? Oh, right~”

Ning Chu paused for a moment, then bit into her roujiamo, letting out a satisfied hum before wolfing down the rest of it in just a few bites.

“You didn’t even leave me a piece.”

“There are some crumbs left in the bag,” Ning Chu teased, handing it over with a grin. "By the way, I’m heading to Lily’s house tomorrow to play. I’ll be back in two or three days."

"Make sure you come by my house for dinner while I’m gone. My mom will set aside a place for you, and you can help Hei Dou with her homework."

"Oh, and don’t forget to spend New Year’s Eve with us! You should be off work that night, right?"

Wen Yang nodded. "Yeah, I’m working the morning shift on New Year’s Eve, so it won’t be a problem."

"Good~"

Ning Chu stretched and leaned back on the couch, glancing around sneakily before mumbling, "I think my bra feels a bit tight again. It’s all your fault."

It’s said that a healthy amount of intimacy can promote estrogen production. Plus, as a succubus, her chest hadn’t fully developed yet...

She had only been with him twice, and she was already showing signs of growing into a C-cup! If things kept up, in a few years, she’d end up with those enormous DEF cups, like in hentai!

“Bigger is better. It’s no problem.”

“Of course it’s no problem for you! You must be enjoying it, you pervert!”

Wen Yang didn’t quite understand how liking large breasts made him a pervert, but fearing that her mother might overhear, he wisely changed the subject.

He started telling Ning Chu about his day at work. “So, today we had this food critic come in. I overheard them complaining about how terrible the food was, and the manager got so nervous that they gave them a discount...”

“Who was it? How many followers do they have?”

“I looked them up. Just a small influencer with a few thousand followers.”

“Do you think they filmed you? What’s their account name? I’ll go follow them!”

Wen Yang had wanted to ask Ning Chu about how she always seemed to know when something unexpected was going to happen, almost like she had some sort of foresight. It felt like something straight out of her harem novels...

But whenever the topic of her novels came up, Ning Chu would get all flustered and embarrassed, trying to dodge the subject.

Wen Yang thought to himself that maybe he could ask her about it at a more... compromising moment, when she’d be too flustered to avoid it.

“Dinner’s ready!” came the loud call from the dining table. Ning Chu’s mother glanced over at the two of them on the couch. Seeing that they weren’t tangled up in each other, she was reassured. “Go call Ning Xinya.”

“Got it!”
