Chapter 78: It’s All Lily’s Fault!
It was clear that Ning Chu’s mood had significantly improved lately.
In the past, she had moments where she appeared gloomy, often anxious and frequently furrowing her brows.
But today, she seemed more cheerful, more energetic...
Wen Yang wasn’t paying much attention to the lecture. His focus was on Ning Chu, who was whispering with Yan Xinya.
Despite being on her period, Ning Chu was unusually upbeat, her face always showing a soft smile. If someone didn’t know better, they might think she had won the lottery.

“Wen Yang.”
“Hmm?”
Ning Chu leaned closer to him, asking cautiously, “What would you think if a girl used to be a guy...?”
Wen Yang was a bit taken aback by the random question.
He blinked in confusion, hesitating before answering, “I’d just treat her like a normal friend, I guess?”
“What if you liked that girl? Just curious.”
Wen Yang instinctively glanced at Ning Chu, but quickly dismissed any strange thoughts, remembering that she was a succubus. “Did you read something weird online?”
After a brief pause, he gave a more thoughtful answer, “It might be a bit hard to accept, I suppose? It depends on how much I liked her.”
“Oh~”
Wen Yang was tempted to tease her with a “but I only like you” line, but he noticed Zhang Shaoqing watching them curiously, so he swallowed the words.
Ning Chu also noticed Zhang Shaoqing’s gaze and straightened up, pretending to focus on the lecture while her mind wandered to more chaotic thoughts.
There was no real need to tell Wen Yang, right?
After all, Wen Yang had always treated her like a girl, unlike her family, who knew her past.
What’s wrong with a girl having a few secrets?
But if she didn’t tell Wen Yang, she couldn’t bring him home with her. What if her family couldn’t accept her new gender? She wouldn’t have anyone to back her up.
The joy she had felt after talking with her family the previous night was starting to fade.
But it wasn’t a huge problem. Her mother was healthy here, and her brother was successful. That was enough.
Even if they couldn’t accept her, just seeing them again would be enough.
The bell rang, signaling the end of class.
Ning Chu stretched and followed her friends out of the classroom.
Lately, it seemed like all the troublesome girls had disappeared.
Had the school’s bold, assertive girls all given up? Or maybe Ning Chu’s presence had made them more cautious?
Either way, Ning Chu was happy with the peace and quiet. It spared her from being constantly on edge.
“Xinya, let’s go to the bathroom together.”
“Sure~”
Zhang Shaoqing overheard their conversation and glanced over, noticing Ning Chu, Yan Xinya, and Lily heading toward the restroom.
He muttered, “Since when do guys go to the bathroom with girls...? It’s not like they’re having a group bathroom session.”
“They’re close friends, that’s all,” Wang Jie explained nearby. “Maybe she’s their guy best friend?”
Honestly, with Ning Chu’s youthful and pretty face, it was hard to believe she was involved with any girl—unless that girl had lesbian tendencies.
But thinking of her with a guy? Well, that seemed perfectly normal on the surface.
Zhang Shaoqing didn’t bother responding to Wang Jie. What did that nerd know, anyway?
“Shaoqing, what are you planning to get Ning Chu for her birthday?” Wang Jie asked, still pressing.
“I’m covering the cost of her birthday dinner. The whole thing’s on me.”
“Must be nice to have money~”
“I’ve paid for our late-night snacks enough times, haven’t I?”
“What about you, Wen Yang?” Wang Jie turned his attention to Wen Yang.
Wen Yang shrugged, looking a bit lost.
“You could always buy her a game skin! Some of them are just a few bucks.”
“...”
Wang Jie could get away with giving her something like a game skin, and Zhang Shaoqing could afford to treat her to a meal. But Wen Yang... he couldn’t do either of those things.
First, he didn’t have the money. Second, something so thoughtless would probably upset Ning Chu.
Wen Yang figured he should ask Yan Xinya or Lily for advice. After all, they were girls, and they might know what Ning Chu would appreciate.
“What do you think I should get for Ning Chu?”
In the restroom, Yan Xinya was leaning against the sink, typing on her phone.
She glanced at a message she had just received and straightened up, peeking into one of the stalls. “Ning Chu, what do you want for your birthday?”
“Nothing in particular...”
“Hmm, Lily, what do you think?”
Yan Xinya turned to Lily, who was standing quietly to the side.
Lily thought for a moment and then whispered, “A toy?”
“She has a boyfriend now, doesn’t she? She doesn’t need toys like you!” Yan Xinya teased.
“...”
“Stop spreading lies! I don’t have a boyfriend!” Ning Chu protested as she stepped out of the stall, overhearing the conversation.
Wen Yang hadn’t even confessed yet—they were still in the “ambiguous” stage, right?
“Oh~ I see! So, you do need one?” Yan Xinya nodded knowingly, still typing on her phone. “Ning Chu wants a little toy to help with her... needs~”
“Stop making stuff up!”
Ning Chu, flustered, rushed over to grab Yan Xinya’s phone from her.
“I wasn’t going to send it!”
Ning Chu glared at her, but when she looked down at the phone screen, she realized that in the struggle, the message had accidentally been sent.
Blushing furiously, she quickly hit the “recall” button, hoping Wen Yang hadn’t seen it.
She shot Yan Xinya another angry look, but the wolf-girl only shrugged innocently. “You sent it, not me.”
“You definitely deserve a beating!”
Seeing Ning Chu roll up her sleeves as if to fight, Yan Xinya bolted from the restroom, not even bothering to take her phone with her.
Ning Chu chased her for a few steps, but as she exited the bathroom, she caught sight of Wen Yang’s confused yet slightly excited expression from a distance.
Clearly, he had seen the message before she could recall it.
Her steps faltered, and she was suddenly too embarrassed to face him.
Why did he look so excited?!
He’s not going to think I have some weird toy interest now, is he?
Even though she had, admittedly, been a bit tempted during her time in the girls' dorm...
Ning Chu hung her head, her face burning with shame. She handed Yan Xinya’s phone to Lily, who had followed her out, and started walking away from the classroom building.
But before she could get far, Wen Yang caught up with her.
Noticing how embarrassed she looked, Wen Yang smiled playfully. “That message was from Lily, wasn’t it?”
“Yes! It’s all her fault!”
“That succubus only ever thinks about GHS!” Ning Chu angrily grumbled, throwing Lily under the bus. “Xinya is going to be corrupted by her one of these days!”
If only someone could corrupt Ning Chu too...
Wen Yang chuckled, nodding, secretly looking forward to the day when Ning Chu would fully embrace her succubus nature.
Right now, she was still too shy.
Suddenly, Ning Chu stopped in her tracks, her gaze fixed on a beautiful girl walking toward them. Instinctively, she moved closer to Wen Yang. “Play along.”
“Huh?”
The girl approaching was stunning, clearly a cut above most others. Her pale, sickly skin and sharp ears revealed her identity—a vampire!
A supporting character! No doubt about it!
