Chapter 69: Grasping the Situation
Ning Chu was almost certain now—at some point, she had genuinely fallen for Wen Yang.
However, that lingering male part of her heart still strongly protested during moments of intimacy with him. The decade or more of her life as a man couldn’t just be erased in a few months.
She could tolerate giving Wen Yang some benefits here and there, letting him take small liberties. But if it ever got to the point where she was pinned against a wall like in the plot...
The thought alone made her shudder!
She imagined that if it did happen, she might actually enjoy it and beg for more...
No! She couldn’t allow herself to fall that far! It was terrifying!
Glancing cautiously at Wen Yang, who was sitting in front of his computer, Ning Chu suspected that he was already scheming about how to convince her to go further.
“You’re distracted again.”
“Oh!”
She quickly refocused on the game, but her mind was still filled with chaotic thoughts.
What was happening to her?
Originally, she had tried to control Wen Yang and prevent the plot from unfolding to avoid becoming a girl, avoid that scene from happening, avoid being pushed into a relationship with a man, and avoid becoming promiscuous.
But now, she was completely a girl—physically and mentally. She had fallen for Wen Yang, and after all the twists and turns, she felt like she was only getting closer to that infamous bath scene.
The only silver lining was that Zhang Shaoqing still didn’t know her true gender. So even if the bath scene happened, at least it wouldn’t involve multiple guys.
Wait, that’s not something to be happy about!
It’s like trading a bus for a private car! Either way, she’d still get...

“Wen Yang!”
After much deliberation, Ning Chu realized that spending the night alone with Wen Yang was too risky.
“I’ll sleep at Yan Xinya’s dorm tonight, okay?”
“Huh?” Wen Yang looked up at her. “Did you finish writing your reflection yet?”
“Weren’t you going to write it for me?”
“I’ll do it after this match. Three thousand words, right?”
Ning Chu paused. “It’s not about the reflection! I’m going to sleep at Yan Xinya’s dorm tonight!”
“What’s the matter? Are you trying to avoid me?” Wen Yang smiled innocently. “Do I seem like the kind of guy who would take advantage of you?”
“...”
Ning Chu thought about it.
He didn’t seem like it...
After more than two months of discipline and mental conditioning, Wen Yang was no longer the playboy from the novel who hooked up with every girl he met. He had only gotten emotional once recently, and even though he had been punished for deviating from the plot again, he had held out... But what if he couldn’t hold out anymore? She might end up being the one who overwhelmed Wen Yang.
The game ended, and Wen Yang pulled out some paper and a pen, starting to write Ning Chu’s reflection.
“If you leave, it’ll just be me alone in this big dorm. We’ve known each other for so long—don’t you trust me by now?”
Why did that sound like he was trying to sweet-talk her?
“Well... I guess I’ll stay in the dorm,” Ning Chu hesitated before agreeing.
Wen Yang let out a small sigh of relief.
“Let’s invite Yan Xinya and Lily over tonight!”
“...”
Wen Yang’s breath caught in his chest, causing him to cough several times in a row.
Hopefully, Yan Xinya would take the hint and learn something about emotional intelligence!
“I’ll send her a message. We can plan something fun for the evening,” Ning Chu said with a grin, enjoying Wen Yang’s flustered reaction as she happily texted Yan Xinya to invite her over.
She suddenly remembered the cooking equipment in the wolf-girl’s dorm and suggested, “How about we have hot pot in the dorm tonight? I’ll head to the store to buy some ingredients.”
Wen Yang, who had been meaning to thank Yan Xinya for taking care of Ning Chu, quickly agreed. “That works. We can use Zhang Shaoqing’s computer to play movies and shows.”
Zhang Shaoqing was the only one in the dorm with an external monitor, and it was a huge one, over thirty inches. Supposedly, it had cost him five or six thousand yuan.
“Sounds good.”
Ning Chu’s invitation received an immediate confirmation from Yan Xinya.
“Don’t forget to bring the induction cooker and pot. We’ll have hot pot tonight,” she texted. “Also, invite Lily. But forget about Lin Li.”
That sly fox still had her eyes on Wen Yang. No way was Ning Chu letting her anywhere near him!
After finalizing the plans with Yan Xinya, Ning Chu stood up, closed her laptop, and turned to Wen Yang. “I’m heading to the store.”
“Let me just finish this line,” Wen Yang said.
She walked over to peek at his reflection letter from behind him. “You’re writing pretty fast!”
Not only was he fast, but his handwriting was also neat and legible. If it had been Ning Chu writing, her reflection would have looked like incomprehensible scribbles.
“Taking notes in class helps.”
After finishing the first part of the reflection, Wen Yang set his pen down and grabbed his jacket. “Which store are we going to?”
“The one outside campus. They have more options.”
After straightening themselves up a bit, the two of them left the dorm.
Ning Chu was only wearing slippers, her toes peeking out, soft and pale. As she walked, she finally had a chance to inspect the toenails Wen Yang had clipped for her earlier. They were smooth and rounded—he had done a really good job.
Even she hadn’t been able to trim them that well when she did it herself.
“You know, you should take care of my nails from now on,” she teased, quickening her pace to walk beside him.
“Sure,” Wen Yang replied, happy as a foot enthusiast.
His eyes then shifted to Ning Chu’s slender, delicate fingers, which were as pale and refined as white jade. As a hand enthusiast, he was equally thrilled.
By now, Ning Chu had become somewhat famous in the boys' dorm. While the students on their floor knew she was “a guy,” the ones downstairs couldn’t help but stare every time they saw her, clearly mistaking her for a girl sneaking into the boys' dorm.
“At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if I get reported again,” Ning Chu muttered, her hands in her pockets, slightly annoyed by all the looks she was getting.
Wen Yang thought back to when Ning Chu had first arrived with her youthful, boyish face, and then looked at her now, with her radiant, makeup-free beauty. She had gone from being a plain boy to a striking girl in just a little over two months.
If she ever put on makeup, she could probably compete for the title of school beauty.
No wonder she was a succubus—the transformation during this developmental stage was incredible...
Wen Yang suddenly asked, “So why did you choose to stay in the boys' dorm in the first place?”
“...”
Ning Chu stopped walking for a second.
Why does he keep asking questions I can’t answer today?
Was she supposed to say that she used to be a guy a month ago? Wen Yang would either think she was crazy or assume she had gone to Thailand for surgery!
She had learned her lesson. Instead of answering directly, she vaguely replied, “You’ll find out eventually.”
Better to let Wen Yang fill in the blanks himself.
As they walked along the path leading out of the school, Ning Chu grew more frustrated. Why was Wen Yang the only one who got to ask difficult questions?
She decided to turn the tables and hit him with a tricky question of her own. “Wen Yang, what do you like about me?”
“...”
Wen Yang scratched his head awkwardly, unable to come up with an immediate answer.
Ning Chu felt a surge of satisfaction and let out a smug huff. “Hmph~”
She knew how to handle men perfectly!
