Chapter 67: Your Male Protagonist
How does Wen Yang know?!
A rare surge of panic gripped Ning Chu's heart, and shame immediately rushed over her, turning her face bright red.
Her pupils constricted, and her mind descended into chaos.
This was her biggest secret!
How much did Wen Yang know now?!
Ning Chu was flustered like never before. Her body was stiff, and her back was already covered in a cold sweat.
Did Wen Yang only know the name of the protagonist, or had he uncovered parts of the plot? Did he even realize that the people and places here matched the world of the novel she had written? When did he find out?
“You... you...” Ning Chu's lips moved, but she didn't know what to ask.
“What’s wrong?”
As Wen Yang turned around to look at her, she immediately lowered her head, hiding her uncontrollable facial expressions in the shadows.
After a moment of silence, she spoke.
“You... why were you snooping through my things...?”
Since she didn’t know how to deal with the situation just yet, Ning Chu decided to turn the tables and test the waters by accusing him first.
“I saw it by accident.”
Wen Yang's tone carried a teasing smile, but Ning Chu was so tense that her toes clenched, and her muscles tightened.
“When?”
“Relax, how am I supposed to cut your nails like this?”
Ning Chu pressed her lips together, trying to loosen her toes. She attempted to calm her slightly trembling body, but Wen Yang still noticed.
Glancing at her flushed and nervous face, Wen Yang chuckled, “Are you shy?”
“...”
“It must have been around the beginning of the semester, I think? One night I got up to use the bathroom and saw you still awake, reading a novel. So, I glanced over and realized it was one of those imperial romance stories, and the main character's name was exactly the same as mine.”
“Don’t worry, I was just curious. That’s why I brought it up.”
It all came back to Ning Chu now.
That was during her first weekend after crossing over. She had just confirmed that she was in the world of a novel and was trying to figure out what role she played in it.
She vaguely remembered that Wen Yang had startled her that night, which led her to move the novel to her phone for safekeeping.
Ning Chu let out a small sigh of relief.
He probably hadn’t seen too much. Wen Yang was just curious after all.
She quickly thought of an explanation. After a few deep breaths to steady her emotions, she carefully said, “I don’t really remember. I found it online back in high school... I deleted it after I finished reading.”
For now, she just needed to bluff her way through this.
She snuck a glance at Wen Yang’s expression.
“Really?” Wen Yang furrowed his brow slightly. “Then why do I remember seeing Zhang Shaoqing’s name in there too?”
“...”
Could he please just say everything all at once?!
How much did he actually see?!
Her heart, which had just calmed down, was now racing again like a roller coaster.
Ning Chu stammered, awkwardly trying to lie, “Maybe... what a coincidence...”
She was completely losing control of the situation!
This kind of reaction would definitely make Wen Yang even more suspicious!
She should have said nothing! That way, Wen Yang would’ve just assumed she was embarrassed.
Should she confess everything?
But what if Wen Yang realized this was the world of her novel and that she was a transmigrator? How would he react?
Would his worldview collapse? Would he start questioning the reality of everything? Or would he just accept it?
If she confessed, would all the plot involving Wen Yang come to an end?
Would she have to face all her punishments at once and end up drained like a juicer?!
Wen Yang turned back, his eyes teasing as he looked at her tense little face. “You didn’t write your roommates as characters in that little imperial novel, did you?”
“So, was that why you said I was your male protagonist?”
“...”
Ning Chu feared he was fishing for answers. She lowered her head and started playing with her fingers, refusing to say anything.
Let him come up with his own assumptions.
Even though the truth was the complete opposite of what Wen Yang thought, he had still hit the nail on the head about one thing.
She was the author of that imperial novel.
It was a private piece she’d written for her own entertainment and had never shown anyone—least of all Wen Yang.
The intense shame made her cheeks burn, and her entire body was flushed pink.
Seeing that she wasn’t answering, Wen Yang playfully squeezed her foot and said with a laugh, “A succubus doing something like this... honestly, it feels pretty normal.”
“In the book, am I flirting with girls left and right?”
“Or are you the main character, turning all the handsome guys into your harem?”
“Stop, stop talking...”
Ning Chu’s shame was about to explode. All these emotions were piling up, and her brain was getting foggier by the second.
She had to end this conversation now!
She tried to get up, but one of her legs was still resting on Wen Yang’s lap, and he was holding onto her foot firmly. She didn’t dare struggle too much, afraid that it might make Wen Yang think even more strange things.
Wen Yang turned to her, his eyes falling on her deeply flushed face.
Her long lashes were trembling, her eyes watery as if she might cry at any moment. She bit her lower lip, revealing a bit of her white teeth, and her ears were bright red.
This expression of extreme embarrassment made Wen Yang want to tease her even more.
“If you won’t say anything... then how about a kiss?”
“...”
Ning Chu froze, confused, and looked up at Wen Yang’s slightly expectant expression.
Wait, when did my male protagonist become so shameless?
He must have learned this from Zhang Shaoqing!
She turned her head, avoiding Wen Yang’s gaze.
Men... once they got a taste, they always wanted more...
“Not even one kiss for your male lead?”
Wen Yang had finished clipping her nails and gently placed her leg back down.
Suddenly, memories of last night’s kiss in the park flashed through Ning Chu’s mind, and that tingling feeling of pleasure spread through her body again.
Her skin, already flushed, turned an even deeper shade of red.
She stood up, her voice trembling. “Never bring this up again.”
“Okay.”
Ning Chu leaned down, closed her eyes, cupped Wen Yang’s face with both hands, and with a steely resolve, pressed her lips against his.
I’ll bite you!
But as soon as their lips met, Wen Yang's hand gently pressed against her lower back, turning her into a puddle of mush as she collapsed into his arms.
The control shifted instantly. She found herself straddling Wen Yang’s lap, her body cradled in his strong arms, helplessly overwhelmed by Wen Yang’s affection and possessiveness.
“Mm!”
She could feel saliva spilling out!
Her mind turned to jelly, and Wen Yang’s other hand stealthily slipped under her shirt. The little bit of clarity she still had made her grasp his hand, preventing it from moving further up.
A kiss is one thing, but no touching!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

They both froze, as if caught in the act.
“Zhang Shaoqing~”
It was a gentle female voice.
Ning Chu hastily scrambled off Wen Yang’s lap and dashed to the balcony. Wen Yang quickly tidied his rumpled clothes, wiping the saliva from the corner of his mouth, trying his best to conceal what had just happened.
“Zhang Shaoqing? Are you in the dorm?”
