Chapter 28: A Date
As soon as Ning Chu reached the dormitory lobby, she spotted Wen Yang through the glass door, along with a group of troublesome girls surrounding him.
She stopped in her tracks, quickly putting on the jacket Lily had given her and tidying her hair to make sure her rushed run hadn’t ruined her appearance in the dress.
"Why am I so concerned about my appearance? It’s just a casual outing with Wen Yang," she muttered to herself, her hands pausing in their adjustments. "They say that when you’re in front of someone you like, you tend to care more about how you look, regardless of gender."
Especially during the ambiguous phase...
Ning Chu’s expression darkened slightly, and she shook her head, trying to push aside those wild and ridiculous thoughts.
The most important thing right now was dealing with those girls clinging to Wen Yang.
Seeing how Wen Yang was being pushed back by them, looking all timid and helpless, she couldn’t help but get annoyed!
Why couldn’t he just tell them off?
As long as you’re rude enough, even the most persistent girls will back off!
She pushed open the dormitory door with force, storming over and shoving one of the girls in front of her. "Move aside."
"Huh?"
The girl turned around, looking at her in confusion.
"He and I have plans. Stop bothering him."
The girl glanced at her, then dismissed her presence, eagerly squeezing closer to Wen Yang. "Wen Yang! Can we have dinner together tonight?"
Ning Chu’s expression tightened.
Seeing how these girls were practically throwing themselves at Wen Yang, she became more forceful, pushing her way through the crowd until she was standing right in front of him, ignoring the complaints around her.
"Hey! We were here first!"
"Who is this person?"
Wen Yang looked down at Ning Chu with an embarrassed smile. "I couldn’t help it—I injured my leg and couldn’t run away..."
In her dress, Ning Chu looked far more striking and beautiful than usual. With just one glance, Wen Yang’s heart started racing uncontrollably.
Ning Chu shot him a quick sidelong glance before grabbing his hand and pulling him away.
"Wait! Don’t go! Leave Wen Yang here!"
One of the girls continued to pester them, which only made Ning Chu more furious. She turned back and snapped, "Get lost! Aren’t you tired of being annoying?"
"How rude!"
Ning Chu’s face flushed red as she glared at the girl, but to her surprise, the girl glared back with wide eyes.
"Who do you think you are, dragging him away without saying a word?"
"I’m his..." Ning Chu hesitated, looking down at her current outfit. There was no way she could say they were just roommates, so she decided to go all in. "I’m his girlfriend! What’s it to you?"
That shut the girl up, and she mumbled something before turning away in disappointment.
Wen Yang, on the other hand, was stunned, allowing Ning Chu to drag him out of the dorm area and into a secluded spot.
As soon as they stopped, Ning Chu immediately let go of his hand, clearing her throat. "Don’t overthink it. I just didn’t want you to get stuck dealing with those girls."
"Uh... yeah."
Worried that she had come across as too aggressive, Ning Chu quickly straightened her clothes and turned her head away from Wen Yang’s gaze, brushing aside her bangs as she tried to distract him with a complaint. "What’s wrong with those girls, acting like maniacs? Such fanatics..."
"I’ve never seen anything like it. You’d think you were some kind of celebrity."
Wen Yang listened to her complaints, agreeing with her verbally, but his eyes kept drifting back to Ning Chu in her dress.
The short skirt revealed her long legs, the black knee-high socks accentuating their slender and straight shape. The small patch of exposed skin between the skirt and the socks, known as the "absolute territory," drew his gaze, especially with the leg rings that added a touch of fullness to her thighs.
In the words of a certain LSP (lewd senpai), these legs were worth drooling over.
As for her upper body... it was a bit flat, and her waist was hidden by the jacket, so there wasn’t much to see.
Wen Yang had bought the clothes based on a high school student he had tutored, but while that student had filled out the blouse nicely, Ning Chu only managed to create a slight curve.
A little disappointing, but nothing that couldn’t be improved over time.
"Are you even listening to me?" Ning Chu turned around, catching Wen Yang staring at her, lost in thought.
She glared at him angrily, her face flushing pink, and immediately started walking towards the school gate. "What are you staring at? Let’s go!"
"Alright."
Wen Yang quickly followed, feeling his heart race and his cheeks flush.
There was a subtle joy bubbling up inside him, an excitement that seemed to cloud his mind and make him feel giddy. He was certain this wasn’t just shyness from being close to a girl.
He’d met plenty of pretty girls, but only Ning Chu made him feel this way.
Could this be love?

Ning Chu tried her best to calm her emotions, but after just a few steps, Wen Yang firmly grabbed her hand.
She instinctively tried to shake it off, but after a few attempts, she gave up and looked up at him, slightly surprised by his gentle and affectionate gaze. It made her quickly lower her head in avoidance.
Forget it, it wasn’t the first time...
Holding hands wasn’t a big deal, as long as Zhang Shaoqing or Wang Jie didn’t see them.
With a sigh, Ning Chu walked out of the school gate, suddenly realizing something.
"Weren’t we supposed to go out with Xinya and Lily?" She looked back over her shoulder. "Where are they?"
"They probably had something come up and couldn’t make it."
"Wait a minute..."
They were supposed to be going out as a group of four, but now she was wearing a dress, holding Wen Yang’s hand, and both Yan Xinya and Lily were nowhere to be seen...
How did it end up being just the two of them?
Ning Chu sighed in frustration. "Maybe we should go back to the dorms. There’s not much to do out here anyway."
"We should hurry before we run into any classmates."
Her face went pale, and she quickly pulled Wen Yang along, rushing away from the school.
If any classmates saw them like this, it would be a solid confirmation that she was Wen Yang’s girlfriend!
How would she ever live that down in the dorm?
"Where are we going?"
"Let’s take a taxi to the shopping district."
"Isn’t that far?" Ning Chu, still trying to find a way to end this unexpected date, asked suspiciously, "Do you have money for a taxi?"
Wen Yang smiled and nodded. "I do. I borrowed some from Shaoqing while you were napping earlier."
"You’re the one who reminded me—if I run out of money, borrow from Shaoqing."
Ning Chu weakly protested, "Borrowing money isn’t good."
"I’ve got a tutoring job this weekend, don’t worry. It’s with the same kid as last time." Wen Yang had planned everything out. "It’s not far—I checked. The taxi fare is about thirty yuan."
"..."
By the time they reached the roadside outside the school, Ning Chu felt utterly defeated.
Judging by Wen Yang’s excitement, it was clear that he considered this outing to be a date.
He had even borrowed money in advance, so the whole afternoon was probably planned out perfectly.
Feeling uneasy, Ning Chu asked, "We’re just going shopping, right?"
"I also bought movie tickets."
Of course!
