Chapter 24: Now the Whole School Knows
Ning Chu was starting to wonder if there was something wrong with Wen Yang.
It was huge, and he’d been in there forever. Maybe he needed to see a doctor, or perhaps consider a circumcision to increase sensitivity.
But then again, he was the protagonist of a harem novel... so maybe it made sense.
Leaning idly against the sink, she turned to look at herself in the mirror.
Perhaps because she had been drawn in by that scent, her face still had a faint blush, with the pink around her eyes even more pronounced. Her naturally alluring eyes now seemed even more seductive.
Yet the slight immaturity in her face softened some of that allure, giving her a strong contrast of innocence and temptation.
There was no trace of her former male self; even the masculine air she once had was completely gone, replaced by a shy, pretty young girl.
Ning Chu touched her face, looking at her reflection in the mirror, and muttered, “If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands off this face either.”
After all, she barely looked sixteen—definitely grounds for a three-year sentence at the minimum.
She waited a bit longer, feeling an inexplicable sense of panic building up in her chest.
The area around her was eerily quiet; she couldn’t hear any footsteps or see any sign of Wen Yang, leaving her feeling isolated and alone.
Anxiety gripped her, and she called out, “Wen Yang?”
“I’m here.”
“Are you done?”
“...”
Ning Chu pressed her lips together, peeking into the bathroom and asking again, “Are you done yet? I’m hungry and want to go to the cafeteria.”
“Not yet...”
She could clearly hear the embarrassment in Wen Yang’s voice.
Frowning, she urged, “Hurry up. It’s been half an hour.”
“It’s not... I can’t help it.”
“What do you mean you can’t help it?” Ning Chu paced around the bathroom, her frustration growing. “If you don’t hurry up, I’m leaving without you.”
The longer she stayed near the bathroom, the more that sweet scent made her body heat up again.
She had no choice but to leave the area and wait in the hallway outside.

A few minutes later, Wen Yang finally stumbled out of the bathroom.
Ning Chu glanced down at him, frowning with distaste as she took a step back.
“I can’t help it...” Wen Yang said awkwardly, forcing a smile. “Maybe I was too nervous.”
After all, the thought of the girl he liked waiting just outside the bathroom door... no matter how he looked at it, the situation was too weird.
“Then I won’t help you walk. Be careful on your own.” Ning Chu quickly backed away from him, adding, “Don’t tell anyone you know me. Everyone’s going to be staring at you when you walk, and I don’t want to be associated with that.”
“Uh...”
After a moment of thought, she took off her jacket and handed it to Wen Yang. “Tie this around your waist to cover it up.”
Without her jacket, her chest looked even more pronounced, which made Ning Chu feel even less secure. She crossed her arms over her chest, instinctively hunching her shoulders.
Back when the weather was hot, she would use her textbooks to cover up during class.
“Let’s head back to the dorm.”
“Weren’t you hungry?”
“I’ll order takeout.”
Ning Chu walked ahead, but kept looking back to check on Wen Yang.
A sprained ankle really wasn’t suitable for putting weight on, so she should have been helping him walk to prevent further injury to his ankle. But that tantalizing scent was too much for her to handle.
“Hey~ Why were you in there for so long?”
As they stepped out of the teaching building, a little wolf-girl suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
“You disappeared earlier.” Ning Chu shot her a glare. “What are you doing here now?”
“Bringing good news!”
“Hmm?”
Yan Xinya pulled out her phone, a mischievous smile on her face as she opened the school forum. “Look! The whole school knows you’ve claimed Wen Yang!”
“...”
Ning Chu sighed deeply.
As expected, whether Wen Yang performed exceptionally well by placing in the top three, or embarrassingly poorly by falling flat on his face, it was impossible for him not to become the talk of the school.
He was supposed to take it easy during the race, but instead, things completely fell apart and dragged her down with him.
“Someone even took pictures! Look at your expression in the photos~ Were you about to cry from worry?”
“There are people in the comments debating whether you’re a boy or a girl, some offering congratulations, and others saying you don’t deserve him... They’re even calling for the school to investigate, claiming you’re a girl sneaking into the boys’ dorm.”
“Now you’ve offended all the girls in school!”
Ning Chu’s mouth twitched. “It can’t be that bad, right?”
The wolf-girl chuckled and nodded. “Of course! Not everyone’s got romance on the brain.”
No, to be precise, not everyone’s a supporting character in a romance novel.
Aside from the supporting characters, most normal girls might just admire Wen Yang from afar as a crush. They wouldn’t necessarily try to steal him away.
Steal him away...
On second thought, being mistaken as Wen Yang’s girlfriend might not be such a bad thing. At least it would limit the harassment he faced to just the plot-driven supporting characters.
Ning Chu rested her head on Yan Xinya’s shoulder, sighing in despair. “If I make a post to clarify, do you think anyone will believe me?”
“Nope!”
The wolf-girl’s nose twitched, and she suddenly turned to look at Wen Yang, who was still limping with a jacket tied around his waist.
She grinned teasingly. “Did you two do something naughty just now?”
“No!”
“You guys are so bold~”
“We really didn’t!” Ning Chu’s face turned bright red in panic.
Yan Xinya smiled and looked away. “Don’t worry~ I didn’t smell anything on you. I was just joking.”
“...”
Some jokes just shouldn’t be made.
It took nearly half an hour to help Wen Yang hobble back from the teaching building to the dormitory.
“I’ll head back now and check if Lily’s awake.”
“Okay.”
“Bye-bye~”
Ning Chu then turned back to Wen Yang, who was still stumbling around. She stepped forward and put his arm around her shoulder. “Come on, make sure to hold on when we go up the stairs.”
Even after walking for half an hour, she could still faintly smell that sweet scent, a sign that Wen Yang’s mind was still filled with inappropriate thoughts.
Leaving things unfinished must have been really uncomfortable...
Having been a man before, Ning Chu could somewhat sympathize with Wen Yang.
By the time they reached the dormitory door, she was already breathing heavily, hurrying to open the door, only to find it locked.
“The door’s locked... Didn’t Shaoqing and Wang Jie sneak back earlier?”
Now they were alone again.
Fortunately, Wen Yang had a sprained ankle—if he tried anything, she could still run.
“I’ll send them a message and check. I have a key in my pocket,” Wen Yang said, leaning against the wall for support.
“Alright.”
Ning Chu was eager to distance herself from Wen Yang before her body’s heat became too overwhelming, so she quickly reached into his pocket. But as soon as her hand brushed against him, she pulled it back as if burned.
“You should get it yourself...”
She quickly stepped aside.
A moment later, Wen Yang unlocked the door and rushed straight into the bathroom.
