Chapter 39: How love works...
The following mornings, Doha was bored again. As he studied more and more, he was becoming faster and faster at learning. Thus, making his studying time even more less compared to previous days.
And Jang Song-rik had put a ban on him for visiting his office for a few days.
Turns out his little act he pulled last time was very upsetting for Song-rik. He allegedly gave the excuse that he kept remembering what they did in that office and was too distracted to get any work done.
"If I promise to behave, will he let me visit?" Doha wondered.
Nah, I don’t trust myself around hyung.
Doha knew all too well what kind of effect Jang Song-rik’s presence had on him.
Come to think of it, when he first met Song-rik, he was just afraid of him and wanted noth to do with him.
But slowly, he grew onto him. And Doha never realized when he fell in love with him. So deeply at that.
Or no... he knew.
The moment when Song-rik ran to escape to the bathroom when he saw Doha at his home that night. The sight of him frolicking away in a hurry like some hamster hiding from its owner.
And then, his little pleading to be allowed to dress.
Or was it how he looked up at Doha?
Those blue eyes were definitely what hooked Doha in. As if they had the sky and all of the ocean in them. And they only looked like that at Doha.
That made him falter from his resolve to avoid Song-rik.
"Let’s just date, mister."
Who was he kidding? Maybe Song-rik was into him first. But it as obvious as day now who loved the other more in this relationship.
Maybe Jang Song-rik could go on without Doha beside him, but Yeon Doha...
...He was far too deep in the depths of affection to even imagine a life without Song-rik.
When did I become such a fool in love?
Doha thought and thought.
Right. I was a fool from the very beginning...
He laid down on his bed as he suddenly felt sleepy.
He looked at his hands. They were not as rough as Doha never really worked in harsh jobs. He wasn’t exactly cut out for them.
He caught himself comparing them to Song-rik’s hands. They were slender and paler than his hands. And they were softer too. Like a prince’s hands.
Doha’s eyes slowly closed as he drifted into sleep.
"I hope I dream of hyung...." He muttered as his eyes shut.
He did dream of Song-rik.
But... It was a strange Song-rik.
The Song-rik Doha knew had eyes that resembled a sunlight blue sky. This one had dark blue eyes. Surely they were the same people.
Doha found himself in a high school classroom.
Buy I never attended high school. I dropped out in junior year.
"@#_&*§, wanna kiss?" The Song-rik called him with a strange inaudible name.
He looked as if he was just saying whatever that came to his mind. There wasn’t a single speck of affection or any other emotion on his face.
His eyes were dark like a void.
And he smiled.
One heck of a scary smile it was.
Doha looked outside the window, and his eyes opened wide.
The classroom was surrounded by the rose fields in all directions.
"Just like the chocolate shop..." Doha muttered a little.
"Chocolate shop?"
He turned around and saw the Song-rik looking at him with a bored expression.
The classroom was strangely empty. There were just the two of them.
Doha stared at the strange Song-rik for a while as he stared back him with a decreased interest each time.
"Do you know a chocolate shop around here?"
The Song-rik kept staring at him blankly as if he didn’t know what he was talking about.
"Do wanna kiss or not?" He asked half heartedly.
Doha wondered.
Why was his dream showing Song-rik like this? And why was his heart beating so fast at such a pathetic excuse of attention from this weird Song-rik.
"I want to."
He yanked close his face near himself and slipped his tongue into his mouth.
Kissing Song-rik always left a chocolatey aftertaste in his mouth. This time too, the aftertaste was there. But there was nothing else.
This Song-rik’s expression didn’t even falter a little and he kept maintaining eye contact as Doha sucked on his lips and tongue.
Doha could feel in his gut.
This Song-rik didn’t have an ounce of love or care for him.
As their lips parted, the Song-rik gave him a very nasty sneer.
"You sure kiss me pretty desperately.
...
...
Did you not vow to make me suffer?"
*ring
*ring
*ring
Doha opened his eyes and picked up the phone.
"Hello."
"Doha-ya, are you free right now?" Jang Song-rik’s sweet’s voice said from the other side.
Doha looked at his phone screen, it was the middle of the day.
"Yes, I’m free, hyung. I was just taking a nap. Should I... come over?" Doha had a slight blush on his cheeks.
"Ah! No.... Actually I was just outside your place. So I just wanted to make sure you were.... home."
Song-rik sounded pretty shy. Maybe he was thinking Soohi or Mirae could be at home.
"Ah! I’m opening the door right now."
Doha ran towards the front door and yanked it open.
Song-rik stood there in a suit and holding a carry bag in his hand.
"Ah! Um... hello." He said awkwardly as he blushed while looking at Doha.
"Hyung."
"Here, (lifts up the carry bag). I thought of you when I saw this and brought it on a whim. I just came to deliver it to you. I don’t know if you would like it...."
"Hyung." Doha held Song-rik’s free hand as he looked at his eyes shimmering like the blue sky.
"Yeah?"
"I’m alone at home. Would you mind giving me company for some time?"
Song-rik blushed when he heard that and then looked down in embarrassment as he slowly nodded.
Doha pulled him inside as the apartment door closed behind them.
