Chapter 2: The Offer
Yeon Doha woke up cold and stiff outside his door and found the alleged omega gone.
He didn’t know whether it was a relief or not that he had successfully taken care of Jang Song-rik’s first heat.
When he first opened his eyes in this strange world three years ago, it was the day, Doha had run away from home after having a fight with his mother.
In his sister’s novel, The Forgotten Flower, Yeon Doha was originally from a happy family.
He had a younger sister, Yeon Soohi and loving parents.
Doha was also a bright kid and had a good future ahead because he was good at studying.
Things started going downhill when his father committed suicide after failing his business and leaving them billions worth of debt.
Then his mother developed stomach cancer and was hospitalized.
Yeon Doha was only a high school student then and under the sudden weight of his crumbling life, he broke down.
He picked up smoking and got involved with the wrong crowd. His grades suffered because he figured studying was no use as his life was already fucked.
He started bullying kids for money and eventually even got involved with a drug ring to make up funds.
His meager pay from part-time jobs wasn’t cutting it anymore so he turned to such work.
His mother had insurance which covered part of her treatment but he still had to somehow keep the household running.
And there was also the debt.
Doha originally loved his sister and mother. But when things kept getting harder and harder, he eventually started resenting them for holding him down and being a burden to him.
He was still staying afloat somehow when his sister found out about his drug work and told their mother.
Doha and his mother had a huge fight over it and Doha, hurt how his mother only yelled at him, not acknowledging any of his struggles to keep their family afloat, decided to abandon them and leave.
That was also the day he first went into a rut due to emotional and hormonal triggers.
Originally, Doha would have raped a passing by omega in this state of rut, thus adding to his trashy character.
But he was reincarnated in Yeon Doha’s body the moment he went into rut.
And the omega who was supposed get raped by Doha was no other than his current colleague at the bar, Han Yohan.
He helped Doha with getting suppressants and going to the hospital. Called his family. And helped him calm with his pheromones too.
Doha had shivered back then, not because he became Yeon Doha, but because he was afraid what would have happened to such a kind omega if he had transmigrated just moments later.
The original Yeon Doha would have run away and later meet Yohan in the bar where he came to find work and would be rejected by Yohan’s word.
So he loitered around the bar to take revenge on Yohan and that’s when he attacked Song-rik who was running away in a panic after the sudden heat.
But now, Yohan helped Doha reconcile with his family. Which happened very easily as he was inside Doha’s body.
Doha decided to take care of his mother and sister and dropped out of high school. His mother wasn’t happy about it but there was nothing she could offer as an alternative.
Yohan helped Doha find a job at the bar where worked and that was how, the new Yeon Doha was living for the past three years.
Diligently working and paying off their families debt. His mother was much better now and was discharged.
They rented a little better apartment recently and Doha had sent his sister and mother on a little trip before Soohi started college.
And that was the extent of Yeon Doha’s life.
Though it wasn’t exactly pleasant to see it all written on a background check report that Mr. Hang Song-rik had just flapped through in front of him.
During the day, Doha worked at a cafe as a full-time employ as the bar opened only after evening.
Working multiple jobs was how he had managed to pay off ninety percent of the debt in just three years.
Song-rik had come to this very bar with an OFFER.
"I would like you to marry me."
Doha started at the newly manifested Omega’s face considering taking back the coffee he had just placed in front of him.
He sighed. Nothing good could come from making Jang Song-rik his enemy.
Before Yeon Doha fucked over Song-rik, he was the same kind of trash as Doha himself.
A pump and dump bastard. Whose fetish was going for alphas.
Maybe it was karma coming to Song-rik as Yeon Doha.
"I’m sorry, mister. I have no interest in marrying you," Doha said sitting down in front of Song-rik, looking very annoyed.
"Your remaining debt and a generous living expense as well as providing for your family, I’d say it’s a pretty good deal," Song-rik said leaning forward.
Doha looked at the bunch of papers that Song-rik had on the table. It was a contract.
He had met Jang Song-rik for the first time yesterday and this bastard was already ready here with a contract.
Doha pushed the papers back towards Song-rik and scowled at him with disgust.
It would have been just fine for him if he just left Jang Song-rik alone that night.
But why did he save him?
Was it pity?
Or maybe guilt that Song-rik’s suffering was caused by his real sister as the author of The Forgotten Flower.
But as Doha saw Song-rik laying there drunk out of his mind and carelessly flirting with him...
He thought it would be a shame if this beautiful person’s life became shitty just because he chose to turn a blind eye.
Maybe he was bewitched by Song-rik for a moment.
"Ha!" Doha stood up and looked down at the blue eyes of the man that he thought was beautiful. The collar was still around his neck.
"I can pay my debt and look after my family just fine," he uttered as his eyes traced the surprised look on Song-rik’s face. "So please leave my workplace and never return."
Doha went back to the counter that was temporarily taken over by now nervous coworker.
She looked at him nervously as he walked over furiously.
"What happened, Doha? Are they here for the debt?" She seemed to be paling with worry.
"No," Doga said as he feigned a smile. "They just mistook me for someone else."
"Oh," She sighed. "That’s a relief."
Doha continued to work on the counter as his coworker went back inside the kitchen.
Jang Song-rik kept sitting there until Doha’s shift had ended.
"I’ll take you to the bar," Song-rik offered when he saw Doha packing his stuff.
Doha just kept collecting his stuff and getting ready to leave.
"Are you ignoring me?" Song-rik asked, a little annoyed.
Doha did exactly that. He kept ignoring him as he chased after him on the street.
It was an odd sight, a suited man running after a bratty casual wearing young alpha in a run back street.
His manager and driver were following behind slowly, so it wasn’t exactly off his safety.
"Talk to me, will you?" Song-rik yanked at Doha’s hand.
Doha stopped and sighed.
"Fuck," he said. "Can’t you take a hint, mister? I clearly rejected your offer and told you to leave. What makes you say I can’t ignore you when you’re ignoring my words just fine?"
Song-rik stopped and just kept holding Doha’s Hoody sleeve.
He blushed and tilted his head down.
Doha looked at him and said, "Just find someone else to do this. If you want to pay back for me helping you. Just leave me alone. It doesn’t have to be me."
"NO!! ... "
"I... IT HAS T.. TO BE YOU!! "
A faint chocolate scent filled the air and Doha felt chills.
Song-rik looked up and his face was red.
