Chapter 1185: Extra Chapter: Gu Pei and Qing Shuling
Editor: Henyee Translations
Gu Pei also thought Feng Jue deserved a beating, but he knew his martial strength was too weak for that. He glanced around, hoping to connect with others, but found himself shut out of the “group chat.”
Qin Shuling rested her chin on her hand, swirling her red wine with a playful smile. She found Brother Gu Pei and his friends genuinely amusing.
“Brother Gu Pei, would you like some?” she asked, her smile sweet like that of a friendly neighbor.
Gu Pei took her wine glass. “You can’t drink underage.”
He then turned to Qin Xian. “Aren’t you going to look out for Sister Lingling?”
...
Qin Xian shot back, “Why the heck would I dare to interfere?!”
Qin Shuling let Gu Pei take the wine glass from her without protest. She blinked playfully and smiled. “Brother Gu Pei, I’m an adult now.”
Leaning in closer to his ear, her voice softened amidst the laughter, carrying a hint of youthful mischief. “We could date now. Want to give it a try with me?”
For a moment, Gu Pei felt a bit dazed, the laughter around him fading as Qin Shuling’s clear voice pierced through. He widened his eyes in confusion. “W-What did you say?”
Qin Shuling smiled sweetly and leaned even closer, whispering, “Brother Gu Pei, can’t you see that I like you?”
Her innocent face still wore that harmless smile, but at that moment, Gu Pei felt an inexplicable sense of pressure.
He glanced at Qin Xian, who was smiling and discussing the competition with Shen Ran.
Qin Xian discreetly wiped his brow, pretending he hadn’t heard Qin Shuling’s earlier words to Gu Pei. Peidi, you’re on your own.
Gu Pei and Qin Xian were brothers and had always considered Qin Shuling like a sister, so he found himself at a loss. However, her confession made him realize that past moments, previously overlooked, hinted at her feelings for him. The distance between them had quietly shifted from that of ordinary friends to something more.
Gu Pei had always recognized that as the daughter of the Qin family, Qin Shuling was far from simple. He enjoyed indulging her as a sister but hadn’t expected her to harbor such feelings for him. Strangely, he didn’t dislike it; in fact, he found himself wanting to consider dating her.
But she was his good brother’s sister, so he knew he had to tread carefully.
Taking her hand, Gu Pei led Qin Shuling to a secluded spot in the courtyard of the Ruan family’s old residence.
When they stopped, Gu Pei’s heart raced, as if he were a student afraid of being caught by a teacher.
Qin Shuling smiled at him, still holding his hand.
The bright moon hung low in the branches, and they stood quietly beneath the tree, enveloped in a peaceful stillness.
Gu Pei met Qin Shuling’s bright eyes and felt as though he had been scalded by her intense gaze, prompting him to quickly let go of her hand in embarrassment.
Qin Shuling, unfazed, leaned lazily against the tree trunk, smiling up at him. “Brother Gu Pei, you still haven’t given me an answer.”
His face burned as he tried to maintain an air of seriousness, wishing to act like the protective older brother. “Lingling, are you joking? What do you like about me?”
She smiled, her eyes glimmering in the moonlight. “Do you want me to change my mind?”
“No, that’s not what I meant,” Gu Pei rushed to clarify, anxious she might misunderstand him. “I’m just… curious.”
Qin Shuling found his reaction amusing. “Brother Gu Pei, you’re really nice.”
He felt a bit shy. “Where?”
With a serious expression, she began counting on her fingers. “You’re good-looking, come from a good family, have a great character, a nice temperament, good grades, and you play games well… There are so many reasons, I can’t even count them all. In my opinion, Brother Gu Pei, you’re pretty amazing.”
Gu Pei blushed at her words, scratching his head and turning his gaze away, unable to meet her calm and bright eyes. He muttered, “I didn’t realize I had so many good qualities.”
Steeling himself, he looked back at Qin Shuling. “Are you… serious? Do you really want to try dating me?”
