The kids didn’t wake up on the second day but she wasn’t pessimistic but very optimistic about their health. She cooked her food and went to bed as she does daily.
The next day she was in a great mood and everyone was relieved to see this. She fed them more medicine again when she returned home.
A few days passed and five days after she picked the kids, they finally opened their eyes.
On this day, Alayna was at the store and she had no idea that the kids were awake.
The young boy opened his eyes groggily, his body was very painful and the aching was too much. He couldn’t remember much of what really happened but one thing was for sure, he has a sister and he has to find her.
As he looked around, he was relieved when he saw a face that filled his head, he didn’t need to comb through his memories to know that this person was his sister.
Seeing her sleeping soundly and on a bed similar to his, he finally began to look around to see where exactly he was.
He knew that he had been sleeping for days and although he was unconscious, he could hear the voice of an older woman talking to them and she sounded very much worried.
He could also tell that this woman was the one that saved them and brought them back to life. He was very grateful for that and he wanted to see the other soon to determine what their future will hold.
But first, he needed to see his sister waking up and see how they can deal with their savior. While waiting for her to wake up, he stood shakily on his feet.
After a while, he felt that he was strong enough to walk around and he began to explore the house.
Thirty minutes later he was back in the room and he was very confused. He regretted checking the place out, everything that he saw, was something that he had never seen before, he didn’t have a collection of it and it made him feel as if he was dumb and stupid.
He sat by her side for like an hour and she finally opened her eyes. When she opened her eyes and saw that her younger brother was safe, she was so happy that tears began to stream down her cheeks.
The two siblings hugged each other and cried for a long time before the big sister began to question the young brother about what was happening.
It was after listening to her young brother that she realized that her young brother has somehow lost his memory. She remembered everything and the memory was so painful.
If it was possible before they gained any strength or power to defeat their enemies, it was better this way. She didn’t want him to remember those horrible moments and she will keep it that way until they were on their feet.
"As long as we are alive, this is all that matters."
"Yes, I think so too. Sister, do you know what happened for us to be in this state?" he asked worriedly as he couldn’t remember what happened before they woke up.
She shook her head with a worried expression on her face, "I am afraid that I can’t recall a lot of things too. I seem to have even forgotten about our names too. Do you know where we are?"
Seeing his sister’s confused expression, he knew that they were both doomed, "I only know that it is a woman. I don’t know where she is but we can wait for her."
The sister was a bit worried; she doesn’t want to end up in another dangerous situation and sent themselves into a wolf’s den.
"Do you think that she is nice?" she asked hesitantly as she blinked her eyes at her younger brother.
The young boy who had a better knowledge of their savior nodded his head without hesitation, "I bet she is. Let us just wait for her to come back and we can see her."
After coming to that conclusion, the siblings talked for a while before dozing off again.
When Alayna returned, the kids were sleeping but it didn’t take a fool to realize that the kids were awake. Not wanting to disturb their sleep, she checked the monitors’, something she had been doing lately to see if the kids woke up when she was gone.
She was very happy when she saw that the kids had really woken up but sad after when she learnt that the kids have somehow lost their memories.
This selective memory loss was something she knew about greatly. And the main cause was usually due to something painful that has happened. To think that the kids went through something horrible for them to even forget their own names, her heart truly ached for them.
She wanted so bad to have them, she wanted to take care of them the same way her godfather took care of her when she was lost and broken. Since she didn’t know when she will fall in love or have kids, adopting wouldn’t be a bad idea after all.
Since the kids were up, she decided to cook a healthy meal that sick people can eat, which was porridge and vegetables. It didn’t take long before the food was ready.
The aroma was too much that the sleeping kids woke up with grumbling stomachs. When Alayna went to check on the kids, she was so happy to see them awake.
When the kids finally saw the person that saved them, they didn’t know how to react. She didn’t look fierce at all and her face looked very lovely and approachable.
"Hello kids, I am Alayna the person that saved you after you were swept away by the river. Are you feeling, okay?"
The kids looked at each other before looking at Alayna, "thank you for saving us."
"It’s nothing much actually, as long as you are doing okay then nothing matters."
The kids were touched hearing this, they didn’t have any money to repay this lady, and as they have talked earlier when they were awake.
"We don’t have much to repay you with but if you can take us in, we promise you that we will work hard and make sure that you don’t regret saving us," the brother, decided to sell themselves to her.
If they leave her, they didn’t know if they will be lucky to find someone like her again. Alayna who knew of the kids’ plan didn’t expose them but looked at them solemnly without responding.
The kids panicked when they saw Alayna unmoved and the sister spoke this time and she was even more serious than the brother, "we can sell ourselves to you if that is what you want. As long as it is not something that goes against morals, we will do anything."
Seeing the sister doing this, Alayna wondered what was relay going on in these kids’ minds. As she was taking too long to answer, the siblings despite their weak bodies kneeled down and this action caused Alayna who was taking her time to give the kids response.
"If you want to repay me, there is one thing that you can do for me. I wonder if you are up for it!" as if she didn’t trust them, she gave them some doubtful looks.
The kids hearing this was excited as this showed that she was slowly accepting the idea, "we can do it. Just tell us!"

Hearing this enthusiastic response she showed a faint smile on her face, "okay then. As you can see, I live by myself here, I have no kids and servants. I don’t want servants though, what I want is children. So, if you want to repay me then how about you agree for me to adopt you. I will become your mother and you can be my children. What do you think about this?"
The siblings never thought in a thousand years that their savior wanted to adopt them. She didn’t want servants but wanted to have them as their children. The older sister who recalled all of her past was very happy to hear this.
They lost their parents at a young age and it wasn’t easy for them to be where they are right now. Who didn’t want to be embraced by a parent?
If they take this woman as their mother, didn’t this mean that they will have someone at their backing?
For her to be able to build such a house she was probably very powerful. She knew that her reasons for wanting to agree were selfish but who wasn’t selfish. She didn’t know why this woman wanted them to be her kids but she believed that her reasons were also selfish.
It takes a lot of resources to raise children after all. they can just benefit from this so there wasn’t any need for them to disagree.
