The following few days, Alayna met with several builders and signed contracts with them. The first thing to do however was to cut down the trees and use them again in the construction, she wasn’t going to waste anything this time.
With that in progress, Alayna also posted another job advert, and this time it was for a bookkeeper. It didn’t take long before the interviews started and she found a man for the job.
He was in his thirties and lived in a town and that was near her, and the man has a lot of experience and was a scholar on top of that. She handed over the books to him after giving him some serious threats.
She didn’t want the case of embezzling funds to come out in the future. The man knew how special this job was and he for one didn’t want to mess up this chance and make a bad name for himself. So, he was very serious about the job.
With an increase in customers, Alayna began to wonder if she should hire a few more people again. She didn’t want to keep on looking at the counter but at the moment she couldn’t leave it as she had not received any permission to do so or another mission.
The only time that she could go and check over the progress of her new project was after working hours. Elena and James also tagged along, the bookkeeper as he has a family, he rarely tagged along but whenever there was time he would drop by.
Another week passed by quickly and the piece of land had been cleared and the carpenters were already using the wood for something productive while the builders were digging the foundation.
No one knew what Alayna was planning on building on this piece of land but they could all tell that it was big and they couldn’t wait to see what the place will be like in the future.
Just like that, it’s been a few months since Alayna started operating the shop and more than a month since she received the main mission. She didn’t know what was happening but just kept on working hard as money was of great importance to her at the moment.
It was taking a lot of money for her to build that place but everything was going to be worth it. Doing good deeds was very good for accumulating good karma after all.
[Does anyone know what is being built there?]
[Who knows but it seems big.]
[Let us just wait and see when it is done. I wonder if some big shot is building some mansion.]
Many speculations were being made and the owner of the place was very busy she didn’t even have time to go on leisure walks. When she wasn’t in this shop, she was busy sketching designs for the furniture and she tried to make everything simple and affordable.
She wasn’t building a hotel after all. She didn’t use timber to build the buildings but bricks, she wanted something that will last and not be easily swept away by some wind or torrent rains.
The stokvel program was in full operation and people were receiving their money and doing what they wanted with it.
The ones that saw great improvement were the village people as they did so much with the money. Hearing the testimonies, Alayna was reminded of that wall she had forgotten about.
Ever since the new project started, it has taken over ten weeks for the main buildings to be fully built and for everything to be finished. When she saw the completed building on each side of the land that she owns, she was very proud of herself.

She couldn’t wait to start placing the furniture once the floor was dry, as well as the traditional paint on the walls. Since her usual paint wasn’t available in this world, she had to use the one used on this side, and thank God it could dry easily.
The Dark Forest was somehow between Draak and Ciliren but it was much closer to Draak. It was around 2 km away from Draak. The land that Alayna bought was on the outskirts of the town and on the opposite side of the forest.
The land was very big and because the place wasn’t suitable for farming and anything special, it has never been used or owned before.
On this land, she had the construction team build two main buildings opposite each other. One was for the young ones and the other for the elderly. The other building structures were the two kitchens, one for each main building and two toilet buildings and three-bathroom ones, and a livings quarter for the staff.
The main buildings consisted of six big rooms, four being the bedrooms, one dining room, and an office. The kitchens were outside and there was the cooking space, the pantry, and the counter space for placing utensils.
The kids’ building has one toilet and one bathroom. The two buildings have the same number of booths inside which is five and the same goes for the two bathrooms and one toilet for the elderly.
When she says elderlies, she didn’t mean those that can still do something for themselves or have their own family members, it was for those that were abandoned and have to go through a serious screening.
The young ones were more special than the elderlies as these kids most of them were abandoned or lost their parents or families. She didn’t want to see these kids roaming around, it was better to give them something to do.
It didn’t take long before the floors and walls were dry, as soon as they were done, the carpenters began to bring the furniture to the location. Each bedroom was fitted with twelve single beds and lockers that will be used as closets.
Each room has two huge windows to allow enough sunlight in the room as well as circulation of air. The dining room was also equipped with four huge tables, with each table having twelve chairs.
As for the offices, they had a desk and a few chairs. There was also a bookshelf meant to store record books when the place starts operating.
The remaining building was the house for the staff, she didn’t want those staff that will come from afar to not have a temporary place to stay. She wasn’t planning on making the place a permanent place for them but somewhere where they can rest.
The building has four bedrooms but they aren’t as big as the ones for the other two main buildings. Each bedroom is big enough to accommodate four single beds which are enough for the staff. After all, this wasn’t going to be their permanent house.
It took one week for all the furnishings to be in place and the place was ready to be in use. With everything in order, Alayna once again posted a recruitment notice. This time she was really serious and she needed ladies and gentlemen that could take care of children or the elderly.
This recruitment notice was also sent to Draak as she wanted a variety of talents around her.
[Is it true that the lady boss is looking for caretakers this time?]
[Yes, it is true. I am going to apply; I will try my best.]
[I wonder what kind of people will be able to get the job?]
The interviews this time were held at the new facilities which she called HOPE Institute, she wanted to provide hope for those who felt as if the world has abandoned them and show them that even though it was a little bit tiny, the hope was still there.
The interviews were held for seven days around five until six in the evening for just one hour and the time was enough for her to see what she wanted.
It also took another week for her to pick the candidates that she was satisfied with as she had to do some investigation of her own. She didn’t want to hire anyone without checking the background first.
She was not going to be there always, so trusted people were needed. Alayna picked a total of four men who will be responsible for the boys and the older men.
She picked eight women for the female side and four kitchen staff. The caretakers were responsible for taking care of the kids and the elderly, making sure that they eat, bath, do activities they should, do laundry and all the other things needed.
Their job description covered a lot and their probatory salary was also enough for them to cover their needs.
After settling the staff, she sent them out to check the people that really needed help. She didn’t want to take care of people who will only waste resources.
The staff wasn’t idle, they searched around the whole town and found a huge number of people that fit the criteria.
