Chapter 288: Avoiding cross fire.

Tension circulated for a brief moment, and people exchanged curious glances.

Lady Cadelaria jumped in, before anyone else could talk. Her sharp voice cut through the tension. "Just sign the damn papers, Sienna. No questions. No delays. The rabbit family must never know. And I know you have a rabbit beast man working for you. If you share---"

Sienna groaned loudly, turned to her mother-in-law and pinched her lips together abruptly. "I said, shut up!" She yelled. "Shut up Cadelaria, shut up. They might have come to you for help, but you don’t hold the office anymore, I do. I am the one cleaning up the messes you left behind. So, do me a favor and shut your damn mouth so that I can do my job or I am punching you in the mouth next time."

The people in the room gasped.

Sienna let go of Cadelaria’s lips, and wiped her hands on the woman’s dress. "What kind of lipstick are you wearing? It is as slippery as pig oil."

Cadelaria’s wide, angry eyes narrowed lethally.

Mr. Valemont cleared his throat. "Ladies, if we could bring the focus back here for a moment, I will be very grateful."

Sienna looked at the man, her eyes burning with defiance. "I will not sign until I know the full truth. All I see here is a woman used as a cure and sold by her family for profit. Now that is none of my business, unless she tells me to make is my business. The effects of this divorce are what matter to me as of this moment. If I sign it but these two are in love, and they kill their spouses to come together again legally, I might be apportioned a small part of the blame." She looked from Dixie to Fiddle. "I want to hear from you. Are you both requesting for a divorce because you want to or they are forcing you."

Fiddle rose, standing by his father. He said with certainty, "I want to divorce. My life may have been saved, but the Pyrrhath’s cheated my family out of ten billion. Over three hundred years have passed, but they continue in their desire to exploit and steal from my family. I could never marry from their den of thieves." His words were bold, but his eyes seemed sad.

The Pyrrhath’s rose, Dixie inclusive. The look she gave Fiddle was enough to let Sienna know that this couple would probably kill each other if they were allowed within the same breathing space for another month. And yet, in that anger, Sienna could also see longing.

"How dare you?" Dixie barked. "What was to be expected from a dirty Valemont? We should have let you die. Next time your soul wanders off, I hope it falls off a cliff."

Angry voices rose, fists were clenched. Six people appeared to be on the verge of a full blown fight, while Lady Cadelaria looked smug.

Sienna raised her brows. When they were screaming, she signed the electronic papers and then cleared her throat. "Done. You two come and sign. Pick up your divorce certificates in a week. If you want the record cleared, get a court order and take it to the records and archives department."

The room was stunned into silence.

"You signed it!" Mr. Valemont exclaimed.

Sienna raised her brows. "What else? Was I supposed to wait for a bell to ring? I told you that all I needed to hear was the reason for the divorce and you provided it. Enmity between two families can be considered irreconcilable differences."

Dixie signed off first, and then Fiddle. Under the watchful eyes of their parents, they did not even get a chance to hesitate.

"I have recorded this meeting, just in case trouble flares from this issue later." Sienna mentioned casually, as if she was sharing the name of a new snack she had made. "Next time, if your families have a problem that is to be handled by my office, come to me. Reach out to my secretaries or personal assistant. Don’t pass through Cadelaria because she is not my boss. Also, I don’t do business in my personal time unless its a life or death matter. Cadelaria, the next time you all pull me aside like this and cut into my mama-children dancing time, it better be for a good reason."

"She is your mother-in-law." Mrs. Valemont pointed out the obvious, with a frown. "Even if you have issues, you should respect her. Calling her by her name is not very respectful of you."

Sienna scoffed. "You have your feud, we have ours. I am not trying to fix yours, so why are you trying to fix mine?"

Her words stunned them. For a second, there was silence, and then the Pyrrhath’s started laughing. They did not hide it that they were taking great joy in seeing Mrs. Valemont’s face turn five shades of embarrassed red.

Sienna looked at her mother-in-law. "Let’s go Cadelaria. If they pull out guns and start shooting each other, I don’t want to be caught in the crossfire."

Cadelaria crossed her hands on her chest. "Who do you think you are to tell me what to do?"

Sienna raised her brows. "I am the one who is about to go out and make sure my father-in-law dances with Mija, or another single, beautiful woman."

Hardly had she finished her words when her mother-in-law raced by her, shoving her out of the way with so much strength that Sienna immediately decided was deliberate. Sienna steadied herself, smiled at the two enemy families and walked out.

As soon as the door closed behind her, she heard raised voices. Without the presence of outsiders, the two families threw out all decorum, hurling insults at each other.

"No wonder they needed to divorce." She muttered. The way she saw it, this feud would go on for another three hundred years. Now that Fiddle was healthy, the loss of that 10 billion contract was going to become an issue.

One side would see it as theft, and the other would claim it was earned fairly. The argument would never end. She heard a crash and turned back. Sienna’s eyes widened with worry. Had the argument escalated to a fight? Indeed, she had been right about not wanting to be caught in the crossfire!

Sienna patted her chest, exhaling in relief. More sounds of things crashing and breaking came from the room, along with growls. She took her phone and called hotel security and Wayo. Whatever was going on, they could handle it. She had her own problems to handle; like whatever Lenard had said was coming.
