Chapter 278: The resignation came quickly.

The departure of the royals made everyone breathe easier. Sienna returned to the house, exhaustion etched into her features. She planned to get some sleep on the couch, and relax her mind. But when she closed her eyes, people poured into the room, filling it to the maximum.

Soren, still bruised from the beating, grinned through the pain. He squeezed himself onto the couch and lifted her feet, placing them on his lap. "Sis, thank you."

Sienna opened her eyes. Aunt Linera clapped her hands and the others followed. The younger children danced around the couch, chanting her name.

"Are you okay? Do I need to find you an expert that works on mental health? Tell me what you need and I will get it for you. Is it ice cream? Is it a full day of sleep? What do you want?" She asked him.

He laughed. "You have done more than enough."

Mrs. Miller let out a cry, and she hugged Soren’s head. "Oh, my baby. Next time such a thing happens, don’t hide it from us. Tell your sister immediately." She looked at all the children. "The same goes for all of you. Do not endure when you are wronged by outsiders."

A chorus of ’yes’ went around, followed by giggles and noise.

"You did it Sienna!" Grandma Jess cried, tugging at her sleeve. "You made the king listen."

Sienna blinked. "I can assure you that it was not my intention." She sat up slowly, sighing as her daughter launched herself into her arms, acting like she wanted nurse. "Ali, no." She slapped the girls hands away from her breasts. "If you are hungry go and find Shalin."

Ali pouted. "But grandma Numia said there is food there."

Sienna let out a small growl. She thought to herself that she really ought to stop Ali and Numia from interacting. Nothing good ever came from Numia’s ideas.

Grandma Jess pulled Ali away from Sienna as if the young one was not her granddaughter. She tossed the little one into her husband Jess’s arms and looked at Sienna with a gleam in her eyes. "To be sincere, I did not see how this would end with a win for you. The Prime Envoy is a man of significant influence everywhere. I thought he would bury the case before our family and the queen step in."

"We have his stupidity to thank." Sienna sniggered. "He brought the king here. I suppose he didn’t think that we had any evidence. He underestimated Timothy’s information team. They are so good that they could have discovered the color of his underwear if they wished."

Sienna snorted. She wanted to laugh, but her daughter was making a fuss. The little one was fighting her grandfather, trying to make her way back to Sienna. "Grandpa, just put her down." She tilted her head, looking backwards. "Where is Eli?"

"He went to play with his uncles and get fitted for the suit he will be wearing to Gael’s engagement party." Grandma Byra shared, walking in with a tray of fruits and warm tea. She chased away the children and made the falcon uncles move the coffee table closer to Sienna. "I thought the royals would stay for lunch."

Sienna slammed her hand on the table. "No. Absolutely not. They emptied my food reserves in the morning. What would we use to cook for them if they stayed for lunch?"

More than a few disbelieving eyes looked at Sienna. They wondered why she was making it seem like they didn’t have any food at all! In the meantime, Mrs. Miller passed around ice and heat packs to the children, as if they were all wounded. She was not even leaving room for any of them to say no.

So, the living room was littered with children carrying ice and heat packs on top of their heads!

Aunt Numia sighed, after fussing over her son. "It’s a shame about all that compensation. If all of it went to us, how wealthy would we become? The Risser family is worth five hundred million in assets. We deserve half of it. My son suffered the most, he should be compensated the most."

Not surprisingly, more than a few relatives raised their eyebrows. Numia wanted 250 million!! If that was the price of the scratches on her son’s body, then everyone would line up and beg to be roughed up.

Besides, in comparison to her son, the girls who had been defiled and the children whose bones had been broken probably deserved more.

Corven Junior pulled his arm from his mother. "Mama, don’t repeat this to anyone outside. If you are not going to say something sensible, say nothing at all."

Numia huffed, her eyes watering in an instant. So many relatives rolled their eyes. They were all thinking, "here we go again."

"Coco, how can you say that I am not sensible?" Numia sobbed. "I want that money for you, not me. With two hundred fifty million, your life will be set. You will never have to work, just invest wisely and do what you want. The nobles will be begging to marry into our family."

"Mother please!" The boy raised his voice. "Stop this. Do I deserve that money? Danny Risser did not bully me. Soren is the one that was bullied." He growled and rolled his eyes, "I can’t deal with you, I am going to the kitchen to scrub some pots."

Numia sniffled, turning to Christo. As soon as she buried her head in his chest, her sniffling turned into full blown tears. Christo carried her out of the house quickly, for her sake and that of everyone.

"They should have taken her to Beckam station too." Grandma Jess muttered.

Some people laughed, some shook their heads. The mood for celebration returned, and wine and snacks were brought out. Grandpa Jess was giving out bonuses to the servants, as if it was a holiday. The compound was alive with joy.

Sienna raised her cup, her voice steady. "This is only the beginning. Next, I am going after the law on legacy and divorce. And then...." She paused and frowned. "I have nothing."

"No corruption." Someone filled in.

"No school." Ali declared.

Everyone laughed. Elias met her gaze across the room. He was the phone but his expression softened when he looked at her. Pride flickered in his eyes.

Suddenly, uncle Christo returned, panting like a dog. "It’s out." He shouted. "The resignation announcement of the Prime Envoy is already out. It says he was too sick to continue holding the office."

Some were surprised by the excuse, especially Sienna’s family. But the Veythar’s were not.

"On TV. Speech." Christo wheezed.

Sienna turned on the television. The resignation had come quicker than she expected and she needed to see or hear it herself.
