Chapter 266: Geo’s other secret.

The queen, serene as ever, replied calmly, "He enjoys drama at meal time. Since he can’t target your falcon relatives, he has picked Geo as his unlucky target. He claims it sharpens his appetite. But it’s not all games and laughs, the next possible heir to the wolf clan is lacking. The tribe is already talking of splitting. White wolves want to form a separate tribe from black wolves. The same goes for gray wolves and silver ones."

Sienna sneered. "Are they crazy? Do they expect the king to give them each a city?"

The queen laughed. "That’s an impossible dream. He would sooner force them to share the same city than give them a new one. They are being a nuisance. If they want to split up, then it should be an internal matter for their tribe. They will only be recognized as independent tribes if they come to the royal counsel with a clear plan."

Sienna yawned and rubbed her nose. This was followed by a sniffle that marked the beginning stages of a cold.

"Are you ill?" The queen asked.

She tilted her head from side to side, "I think I might be getting a cold."

Serenya sighed. "You humans are so fragile. Every winter, many of you fall sick. The biggest expense in Lost-born city during this time of the year is medicine, heating equipment, warm clothes and flour."

Sienna yawned again. "Another sleepless night," she muttered. "I feel like Cadelaria has cursed me not to sleep. First it was the box with the stone and now thieves." She smiled at Sienna. "Speaking of stone, has the one you took for further research yielded any results?" She was a little curious about it, honestly.

Much as she mocked the queen for the deep investigation into a stone, if something important was uncovered, their family had a right to know.

As they strode forward slowly, Serenya replied, "Oh, so you don’t have any mocking remarks today? No sarcasm? No clever...."

"I get it." Sienna rolled her eyes and yawned, for the third time.

"We need to find you a bed." Serenya said, looking around the compound, as if beds could be found outside.

Meanwhile, the king was still pressing Geo. "You have got to go home and take your rightful place. Your brother is a moron who will create division in the tribe. He married a silver wolf and advocates for all powerful wolves to do the same. He is putting silver wolves on a pedestal. Wolves come in at least eight different colors. If this continues, your family will not have legacy left because it will be overthrown. And I will stand with the new leader. Your uncle Silburn has been gaining popularity lately."

Geo tried to escape but the king pulled him back. "You have Elias’s support and mine. I am even thinking of adding you to an exclusive communication channel used by the beast lords I am closest to."

Sienna groaned. "Is he seriously inviting Geo to join the underpants group?"

The queen laughed. "Considering the fact that decision on where the vaccine should be distributed first was made in that group, I would say it is a good thing for your wolf. If he plans to be the wolf lord."

"He is not my wolf." Sienna was quick to deny.

Serenya laughed. "I didn’t mean it in a romantic way, I meant it in friendship terms. You should nurture that friendship. Geo over there has been a very busy wolf since he run away from home. He owns Moon tower."

Sienna blinked. Wasn’t that one of the high end clubs Mija enjoyed visiting?

"Moon tower has branches in every city. It also has other businesses like bath houses, spas, brothels, fishing grounds in cities." Serenya continued.

Sienna gasped. "Information hubs!" That was how he always knew everything about everyone she asked about. Most of the time, they were rumors, but these were not rumors found online. He probably had his own informants in the royal palace!

Serenya smiled slowly, her lips lighting up. "You are finally getting it. He thinks that nobody knows he owns it because he never shows his face. But we know, the king and I. Lenard was the one who made the discovery and naturally he came to us."

Curiously, looked at her friend, the queen. "Why are you telling me about this? Aren’t you afraid that I could tell him you know his big secret?"

The queen put an arm around Sienna’s shoulders, "I am sure you will leak the secret to Elias and he will figure out a way to use Geo when necessary. Such a resource, you wouldn’t want to waste it."

She hit the nail on the head, and Sienna didn’t deny it. She looked at Geo who appeared miserable as he was dragged to the courtyard. If she had to guess, the wolf beast man had gone into this line of business to find clues on the fire that ended the life of his sister.

Suddenly, there was a yelp. The king toppled sideways, landing in a basket of strawberries that had been crushed in the battle. People gasped.

Sienna covered her mouth, hiding a smirk, while the queen sighed, "How can a grown beast man be so clumsy? It may shock you but this happens often."

The king rose and sighed loudly, "Get it out. Laugh. There will be no consequences, I promise."

The compound roared with amusement, tension dissolving into humor.

The king stood on a chair that had survived and cleared his throat. People quieted down to listen to his speech. "I will have you know that this was merely a demonstration of agility. I fell into the strawberries because they smelled so nice. If anyone doesn’t believe me, they can try the same and see."

Sienna raised her brows really high, wondering if the king truly thought anyone believed him. To her surprise, a guard from the king’s group threw himself into the basket. After him, another followed, and another. Soon, servants and falcon relatives were doing the same. They were treating it like a game or challenge, laughing like it was fun.

She remained still when the king looked her way with an expectant smile. Sienna took a step back. "You are kidding, right?" No way she throwing herself into a basket of what was now strawberry mush, all in the bid to cater to the king’s ego. But at the same time, she didn’t want the king to see her as disrespectful. She touched her belly and said firmly, "I am pregnant."
