Chapter 62: Mr. Leader Is Being Naughty

"Do you want a kiss?" she blurted out without thinking too much.

The moment the words left her mouth, Cerus looked as though his brain had completely stopped working. He froze in place and stared at her without even blinking.

Maeve immediately regretted saying it. She bit her lower lip, thinking that the situation between them had become so awkward. She then shook her head and said again, "Forget it. "If you don’t want to kiss me, that’s fin—"

Her words cut off when Cerus suddenly leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers.

Maeve’s eyes widened in shock as a swarm of butterflies seemed to explode inside her stomach all at once, making her feel lightheaded and a little dizzy.

For a moment, her mind went completely blank as she stared at Cerus’s face, which was now much closer than she had ever seen before.

Back in the cave, her mind had been clouded by the aphrodisiac, making it much easier for her to kiss Ikarus without overthinking it.

But now, she was completely sober and for some reason, that made everything feel far more intense.

The triplets shared the exact same face, yet Maeve had never had trouble telling them apart. To her, each brother felt completely different.

Ikarus was thoughtful and careful, always taking time to think before he acted.

Cerus, on the other hand, was the kind of man who liked to follow his heart before his head. He was quick to act, quick to speak, and rarely hid what he was feeling.

Even his kiss felt impatient, as though he had been waiting for this moment for a very long time.

Before Maeve could react, he shifted their positions and gently rolled them over. A moment later, she found herself lying beneath him while Cerus hovered above, his arms on either side of her body, leaving her completely surrounded by his presence.

Maeve grabbed onto his arm, her fingers tightening around it. Her heart was beating so fast that she could barely think straight. It felt as though she couldn’t draw enough air through her nose anymore.

Maybe it was because Cerus was so close or maybe it was because every time she looked into his eyes, her chest seemed to flutter even harder than before.

Either way, she felt as though she wouldn’t even regret it if she died while kissing him. Fortunately, Cerus was able to pull back before that happened.

The moment their lips separated, Maeve took a deep breath and immediately pressed a hand against her chest. Her heart was pounding so hard that she was worried it might jump right out of her body.

Cerus didn’t look much better. His face was slightly red, and his breathing was just as uneven as hers. Even so, he couldn’t stop staring at her.

For a few long seconds, neither of them spoke. But after swallowing hard, Cerus finally said, "We haven’t gotten married."

He looked genuinely troubled. "In our tribe, mates usually get married before doing things like this."

Maeve nodded. "That’s right. We haven’t gotten married yet." Her voice grew quieter as she turned her head away. "Maybe... we should stop."

A second later, she let out a soft hiss and covered part of her face with one hand. "Or maybe..." she muttered. "We can keep going and just pretend neither of us knows the rules in your tribe."

She let out a soft hiss before adding, "Or maybe... we can keep going and pretend we don’t know all the rules in your tribe."

"I’m the leader of the tribe," Cerus reminded her. "I know all of the rules."

Maeve nodded and made an expression that was hard to describe. "Right. Right. Mr. Leader should know all the rules," she said. Then she quickly added, "So what’s the punishment for people who mate before getting married? Do they get stoned to death?"

Cerus took a moment to answer. "No..." Maeve waited patiently, expecting something much worse. After a brief pause, Cerus continued, "They would ask us to get married right after we mate."

Maeve blinked. Then she frowned, looking genuinely confused. "That’s it?"

Her expression clearly said that she had been expecting a far more terrifying punishment. "You’re telling me that after all that serious talk, the punishment is just getting married?"

Cerus tilted his head. "Isn’t that serious?"

Maeve stared at him for a few seconds before rubbing her forehead. "No, I mean... it is serious, but it’s not exactly being stoned to death."

A moment later, she added under her breath, "Well, then I guess there’s no problem. We can just get married after this."

Cerus blinked at her. "But Ikarus always told me that I need to follow the rules because I’m—"

"Do you want to follow the rules?" Maeve interrupted gently. She looked straight into his golden eyes, waiting for his answer.

Cerus didn’t even need a moment to think about it. "No," he replied honestly.

Maeve immediately smiled. "Then there’s our answer."

She circled her arms around his neck, pulling him into the kiss once again. Cerus’s eyes widened slightly in surprise.

For a brief moment, he seemed completely caught off guard. Then, as though remembering that this was exactly what he wanted, he relaxed and kissed her back.

The distance between them disappeared once more. Maeve could feel the warmth of his body and the steady beat of his heart beneath his chest. Somehow, everything felt much simpler now that they had stopped worrying about rules and what-ifs.

Cerus slid one arm around her waist, carefully drawing her closer.

This time, neither of them rushed to pull away. The world outside seemed to fade into the background until all Maeve could focus on was the man in front of her.

When they finally broke apart to catch their breath, Cerus rested his forehead against hers.

A small smile appeared on his face. "Maeve."

"Hm?"

"I think I like kissing you."

Maeve chuckled and played with the blue hair that fell behind his shoulder. Her finger coiled a loose strand around itself before letting it slip free again.

"That’s good to know," she said.

Cerus looked a bit nervous before he finally asked, "Do you want to... break that rule with me?"

Maeve smiled. "The one that says we can’t mate before getting married?" she asked. She raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were planning to break it from the beginning."

Cerus took a deep breath, looking as though he was trying hard to hold himself back. Unfortunately, the hard bulge pressing against his clothing made Maeve fairly certain that he wasn’t doing a very good job.

[Host! Host!] Pinky suddenly shouted right beside her ear. Maeve immediately wanted to smack the little creature away, but since both of her arms were wrapped around Cerus’s neck, she couldn’t.

’What?!’ Maeve asked sharply in her mind.

Pinky instantly replied with excitement. [You need to drink an Energy Potion if you want to have sex with him! Your body’s natural stamina definitely won’t be enough to keep up with him!]

’How much?’ Maeve asked without wasting time.

[100 Coins, Host!]

’Are you for real?!’ Maeve complained. ’I only have 50 Coins right now!’

[Pinky can lend you the other 50 Coins, Host! The debt will be paid back automatically the next time you receive Coins in your account!]

Maeve’s eye twitched slightly because even in this world, she couldn’t escape debt.

Still, considering that she wasn’t entirely sure she could hold herself back either, she quickly made her decision.

’Alright. I want to buy it.’

[Purchased: 1x Energy Potion — 100 Coins]

[Remaining Coins: -50]

The moment Maeve saw the negative number, she felt as though a tiny part of her soul had just shrunk away in pain.

However, when Cerus’s hands slowly moved to her thighs, she realized that the debt would probably be worth it.

"I need to drink something first," Maeve admitted. "Otherwise, I won’t be able to keep up with you."

Cerus blinked in surprise. "Oh." After a short pause, he added, "I thought... you could naturally keep up with us."

Maeve couldn’t help laughing.

"You know that’s impossible, right?" she said. "Don’t worry. The Sky Mother helped me."

She pulled the potion out of the system inventory and drank it without hesitation.

A warm rush of energy spread through her body, making her feel more awake than she had ever felt before. For a brief moment, she felt as though she could lift an entire mountain with her bare hands—of course, that was just an exaggeration.

[Pinky will be leaving now, Host!] Pinky announced cheerfully.

The little system spoke just in time, because Maeve had been seconds away from yelling at it for spying on her private moment again.

Maeve looked back at Cerus. Her gaze kept drifting between his golden eyes and his lips before she finally asked, "So... Mr. Leader, do you also have tentacles like your brother?"

Her hands then moved from around his neck to his cheeks. Pulling his face closer, she said, "If you have them too, can you show me?"
