Chapter 392: Chapter 392: Analyzing the Future Economic Model

Adrian Hawthorne pleaded, "Can you tell me that woman’s contact address?"

"No."

Mad Feng’s stance was firm. Although he sympathized with Adrian Hawthorne, he had to abide by the rules. He couldn’t leak a client’s information, or he wouldn’t survive in this business.

Adrian Hawthorne didn’t press the issue. He understood the rules. His perceptiveness satisfied Mad Feng, who liked people that knew how things worked.

"The next time your father comes, I will mention you to him."

"Thank you!"

Adrian Hawthorne stood and bowed. Mad Feng smiled. "No need to thank me. Let’s talk business. What kind of goods are you looking to get?"

"Polyester. And if possible, I’d also like to get some radios."

"How much money do you have?" Mad Feng asked bluntly. ’This kid has a big appetite, but his eye for goods is sharp.’

"Only two thousand, but I want to do long-term business with you."

Mad Feng roared with laughter. "Kid, you dare come to me with just two thousand? You think that’s in US Dollars? That little bit of cash won’t even touch my inventory. Go find a small-time operator."

He only ever dealt in large volumes and looked down on piecemeal business. Besides, he had to abide by the rules. He couldn’t hog all the profits; he had to leave some scraps for the other small-time operators. That was how you maintained balance. He truly had no interest in Adrian Hawthorne’s two thousand.

"It’s true that I only have two thousand right now, but I guarantee that within half a year, I’ll have turned it into fifty thousand. In the future, it’ll be a hundred thousand, even a million," Adrian Hawthorne said, unhurriedly making his pitch. "Furthermore, you’ll be able to open up the southeastern market and earn even more money. You won’t lose anything by working with me, and I will become your biggest client. Why not give it a shot?"

’Before coming, he had predicted Mad Feng would look down on his small-time business, but he had to win him over. Of course, he could buy from the small-time operators, but their source was also Mad Feng. The goods might even pass through two or three middlemen, if not more.’

’He had come to the south to find goods at the rock-bottom price. Reselling was all about the price difference—the larger the spread, the more he earned. As long as he secured Mad Feng as his supplier, he could sell for cheaper than anyone else. That would be his competitive edge.’

Mad Feng found this amusing. "You talk a big game. How do you know you’ll succeed? Don’t think you’re hot stuff just because you’ve made a little money. Kid, you’re still wet behind the ears!"

He paused, then added, "Besides, the policies are uncertain right now. Who knows if they’ll crack down on this stuff again? My advice? Go home, look after your mother, and live a quiet life. Don’t just throw your two thousand away."

"No. I guarantee you, the higher-ups are going to make a big move by the end of the year. I can even predict the economic landscape twenty years from now. Look!"

Adrian Hawthorne picked up the teapot, poured some water onto the table, and dipped his finger in it. He casually sketched a map of Celestia, then drew circles around three locations: Bascilia, Tristone, and Capria.

"The opening of the economy is inevitable. There will be a major move by the end of the year to reform the agricultural economic model and vigorously develop industry and the small-commodity economy. Bascilia is the political capital. Tristone is an international metropolis and the economic heart of the Yangtze River Delta. The provinces surrounding Tristone are bound to see their economies take off, joining with Tristone to form a crucial economic bloc."

Adrian Hawthorne spoke in a torrent, gesturing with his hands. ’These were all conclusions he and Old Master Tate had analyzed.’

"Capria is a major southern port city. Its trade has been developed and its economy prosperous since ancient times. Thus, the Pearl River Delta economic bloc, centered on Capria, will drive the economies of both Gantor and Felsia Province. Barring any surprises, the country’s economic development for the next twenty years will have to revolve around these three blocs. My goal is to capture the southeastern market, and I absolutely will. When I do, won’t I be your biggest client?"

Adrian Hawthorne straightened his back, his eyes shining brightly. His youthful face was filled with determination. Mad Feng’s expression remained calm, but inside, his world had been turned upside down.
