Chapter 85: Leaving the Underwater Garden
It landed on the turtle shell defence, and the barrier broke like an eggshell.
Soon after, Jiang Yue was flung back, and he threw up a mouthful of blood.
’Is that fan a spirit rank weapon?’ He wondered as he tried to adjust his condition.
At the origin forging realm, using silver rank weapons was the most optimal.
However, there was no rule that an origin forging realm cultivator couldn’t use a spirit rank weapon.
After the attack, Jiang Yue realised the fan couldn’t be a silver rank weapon.
’If it’s a spirit rank weapon, he can only use it a few times before his qi runs out. At that time...’
Jiang Yue narrowed his eyes and swallowed a rejuvenation pill.
"Will you give up your storage ring, or will I collect it from your body?" The golden-robed young man asked.
He was complacent, and he fiddled with his fan as he spoke.
"You can collect it from my body if you have the ability."
Jiang Yue released his pipa and began to play.
Three breaths later, the only remaining female fell into a daze.
However, a golden light shone from the top of the young master’s head, and lullaby couldn’t affect him.
’He has a soul-protecting artefact.’
Jiang Yue was a little helpless at this point.
He couldn’t place the opponent under illusion, and he couldn’t compete with the other’s defence and attack artefacts.
’It makes sense to wait for his qi to run out, but he may have a qi replenishing artefact.’
A qi replenishing artefact was unlike a qi replenishing pill.
After taking a qi replenishing pill, one needed to cultivate for a short while before they could recover a portion of their qi.
However, a qi replenishing artefact was different.
This was because such an artefact contained a cultivator’s pre-stored qi.
When they needed it, they could simply activate the artefact, and the qi would readily rush into their body.
If the artefact was powerful enough, it could fully restore the qi of a nascent soul realm cultivator.
Fortunately, qi replenishing artefacts were relatively rare.
The only reason Jiang Yue worried was because the other side was a rich young master.
’What should I do?’
Jiang Yue turned his head and saw Yu Nianzhen standing to the side.
The other was looking at him but didn’t mean to help.
When Jiang Yue saw this, he chuckled lightly, and his mind cleared.
He was so caught up in being pessimistic that he almost discouraged himself.
However, now that he saw Yu Nianzhen, he felt like he didn’t need to be so tangled.
"Let’s try it." He mumbled under his breath and rushed forward.
His whip extended ahead of him, and its body was rapidly tying itself into a slipknot.
"I will deal with the woman first."
While moving, he also released his dagger.
He coated his dagger with a clear qi and immediately launched it at the woman.
However, such an attack was too crude and simple for the woman.
She swung her whip to block it.
As she was blocking, Jiang Yue’s slipknot appeared above her head.
It quickly descended and was about to loop around the woman’s neck when a sudden force came from the side.
"Do you think I am dead?" The golden-robed young master couldn’t bare to be ignored.
After deviating Jiang Yue’s whip, he launched another attack with his fan.
Like before, whirlpools formed in the water, and Jiang Yue was forced to retreat.
However, the young master was not unaffected.
His face was pale, which showed his qi consumption was not low.
’I have to deal with him before he recovers.’
Jiang Yue ignored his own injuries and once again rushed forward.
This time, he didn’t target the woman.
Instead, he went to the young master and struck out with his whip.
As expected, the golden-robed young master’s qi was too low to activate his defence artefacts.
Still, his clothes were very powerful, and Jiang Yue’s attack didn’t cause any damage.
"How annoying."
Although he wasn’t as affected as the golden-robed young master, Jiang Yue was also suffering from excessive qi consumption.
Initially, he used a quarter of his qi to break the water boundary formation.
After that, he used another quarter to inject his qi into one of the female opponents.
Other than that, there was also the qi he used to fight and defend the foursome.
After everything, less than one-fifth of his total qi remained in his body.
"I can’t continue like this." He said.
While looking for an opportunity, he swallowed a qi replenishing pill and began to run his cultivation technique.
Unfortunately, the golden-robed young master had also done the same.
"I have to get him before his qi recovers."
After thinking that, Jiang Yue did not hesitate.
He flew forward with his whip extended.
This time, he didn’t aim for the other’s body.
Instead, he aimed for his head which caused the other to retreat in panic.
When he saw that, Jiang Yue did not pursue him.
He shifted his focus and attacked the remaining female.
He manoeuvred his whip, and it looped around the woman’s right wrist.
When she was tightly bound, Jiang Yue injected more qi into the whip.
Soon after, a loud scream was heard, and a hand fell into the water.
Blood poured out of the stump, and the water surrounding the woman was dyed red.
"I will kill you." The woman roared, but Jiang Yue was already following up on the attack.
His whip flew upward, and a slipknot appeared around the woman’s neck.
However, Jiang Yue’s qi was too low.
When he wanted to inject more qi to behead the woman, he realised that he couldn’t.
His dantian was tingling uncomfortably, and his meridians were completely dry.
He tried to urge the qi replenishing pill, but the recovered qi was too low compared to the amount he needed.
While he was stuck in the dilemma, the woman slipped away from his whip and flew downward.
She grabbed her hand from the bottom of the lake and ran away from Jiang Yue.
When she was far enough, she turned back and glared at him.
"Wait for me."
Without hesitation, she entered the exit and left the underwater garden.
Although he knew the woman would trouble him when she reconnected her hand, Jiang Yue could do nothing.
At the moment, he had no qi to chase let alone fight her.
’I will deal with her when I see her again."
Jiang Yue did not dwell on what he couldn’t control.
He turned his attention on the golden-robed young master as he urgently urged the qi replenishing pill.
On the other side, the golden-robed young master was looking at Yu Nianzhen vigilantly.
If there was only one opponent, the young master would not be worried.
However, he had no doubt that the other would intervene if things started to go bad.
Although he had many artefacts, a lot of qi was required to activate the artefacts.
The higher the rank of the artefact, the higher the qi consumption.
If he insisted on using his artefacts to fight the two, he would eventually fall to a disadvantage.
"Tell me your name if you dare." The golden-robed young master shouted.
"I am Jiang Yue."
Jiang Yue couldn’t be bothered to lie.
Although the other side was strong and had an even more powerful background, Jiang Yue was not a coward.
Since they had become enemies, he would never allow himself to be intimidated.
"Good. My name is Jin Xuan. The second young master of the Jin family in the Great Artisan city."
"Jiang Yue, we will fight again when we meet next time."
Young master Jin also left without a second glance at Jiang Yue.
"Let’s get out of here first."
Yu Nianzhen came to Jiang Yue and held his arm.
At first, he chose not to help the other because he wanted Jiang Yue to fight to his limits.
However, there was another reason that he didn’t interfere.
The reason was that he could feel dozens of eyes looking at them.
If he joined the fight and also depleted his qi, the owners of those eyes would find an opportunity to attack.
Even now, the situation wasn’t optimistic, but Yu Nianzhen was not worried.
In the water, the power of his sword was severely affected by water resistance.
For as long as he left the water, there would be a way to protect himself and Jiang Yue.
"Okay."
Jiang Yue smiled and immediately accepted Yu Nianzhen’s suggestion.
He also understood their situation and didn’t want to stay in the water for another moment.
When he heard the acceptance, Yu Nianzhen didn’t waste time.
He looped his arm around Jiang Yue’s waist and rushed to the exit.
While he was swimming, he could faintly feel some disturbance in the water.
This meant that the observers had also started to move and were chasing them to the exit.
"Are you confident?" Jiang Yue asked.
His qi was still low, and he would be of no use if a fight broke out.
"Leave it to me."
"Good."
A moment later, they exited the underwater garden and arrived on the lake’s surface.
Right after, Yu Nianzhen determined a direction and began to fly westwards.
He had only flown less than a hundred metres when a soft voice floated with the wind.
"Fellow Taoists, please wait a moment."
