Chapter 671: Sixi Mountain Range
"What’s your name?" Jiang Yue asked, pushing a cup of tea towards the female cultivator.
"My name is Zhou Jiaojiao." The female cultivator answered in a respectful voice.
"What do you have for us?" Yu Nianzhen asked, and the female cultivator nodded before taking out a jade square from her storage ring.
"This is all the information that I have collected." She said.
After that, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen took turns reading the information while Zhou Jiaojiao drank tea.
[It’s more or less what we expected.] Jiang Yue transmitted, and Yu Nianzhen nodded.
From the information, they learned that ten cultivators who suddenly ’died’ in another town entered Sixi town but never left. Several days later, ten ’dead’ cultivators left Sixi town and went to another town.
[They bought a lot of formation materials and demonic beast corpses in Sixi town.] Yu Nianzhen observed, and Jiang Yue narrowed his eyes.
[You would think that they bought enough materials in Sword City. Why are they still buying? He asked, but the swordsman didn’t know the answer.
At a loss, Yu Nianzhen turned to Zhou Jiaojiao.
"They stayed in the Sixi mountain range for three days?" He asked, and Zhou Jiaojiao nodded before she began speaking.
"My team followed them to the Sixi mountain range, but we didn’t dare to get too close. However, we thoroughly searched the mountains after they left, but we didn’t find anything." She said and tilted his head.
"Could they have been hunting?" He asked, and Zhou Jiaojiao shrugged.
"That’s our guess." She said and quickly continued.
"Maybe they felt that the demonic beast meat that they bought in Sixi town was not enough."
"Maybe." Jiang Yue agreed, but he felt that the matter was not so simple.
’Azhen and I still need to make a trip to the Sixi mountain range.’ He thought.
After that, the three had a good meal, and Jiang Yue gave Zhou Jiaojiao a level three treasure before he and Yu Nianzhen left Sixi town.
The Sixi mountain range was a medium-sized demonic beast mountain that was only five kilometres from Sixi town.
From what the two had learned, the Sixi town was named so due to its proximity to the mountain range and because many cultivators liked to stay there on their way to the mountain.
The range had four mountains.
Mountains three and four were the outermost and mostly had level one and level two demonic beasts.
On the contrary, mountain two mostly had level two and three demonic beasts, while mountain one had the most powerful level three and four demonic beasts.
When they arrived on the fourth mountain, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen didn’t waste time fighting the demonic beasts.
After all, the two immortal king realm cultivators couldn’t be bothered dealing with low-level demonic beasts.
Fortunately, the demonic beasts knew their place, and after sensing the two people’s aura, they scampered away and didn’t dare to approach them.
"I don’t sense anything on mountain four." Jiang Yue said, using his divine sense to prod every inch of the mountain.
"Me neither." Yu Nianzhen said and subconsciously narrowed his eyes.
Although they didn’t sense anything, they still searched the mountain inch by inch and eventually moved on when they confirmed that there was nothing to find.
Mountain three was similar to mountain four.
After searching for an entire day, the two found nothing and moved to mountain two. However, as soon as they stepped on the mountain, they reflexively exchanged a glance and nodded.
"Let’s go." Yu Nianzhen said, and both rushed towards the mountain peak.
However, they didn’t reach the mountain peak but instead stopped twenty metres from the top.
"There is a formation in this cave." Jiang Yue said, pulling Yu Nianzhen into the cave.
The cave was one hundred square metres and appeared to have been the lair of a powerful demonic beast.
However, the beast had either moved or died because the lair was dusty, and cobwebs were hanging from several surfaces.
"The previous owner’s qi presence is still permeating the lair. Otherwise, another beast would have long moved in." Jiang Yue observed, and Yu Nianzhen nodded.
"What about the formation?" He asked, and Jiang Yue smiled before speaking.
"A level five hidden formation. However, this hidden formation is an obscure kind, and ordinary cultivators would not notice it." He said and quickly continued.
"From what I can tell, the visible area of this cave is only a small portion while the rest is hidden behind the formation."
Yu Nianzhen raised an eyebrow when he heard this.
"Is there a way to access the other part of the cave without disturbing the formation?" He asked, and Jiang Yue rolled his eyes.
"Who do you think I am?" He asked and began working.
Soon after, he led Yu Nianzhen through the formation and both entered the hidden area of the cave.
The hidden area was about five hundred square metres.
Compared to the visible area, this hidden area was clean but empty except for some random stones on the ground.
"I sense another formation." Yu Nianzhen said and looked at Jiang Yue for confirmation.
"There is an incomplete formation." Jiang Yue said, pointing at a place on the ground.
"Incomplete?" Yu Nianzhen asked, and Jiang Yue nodded.
"It’s not damaged. It’s intentionally incomplete." He said and began studying the formation.
However, after studying it for four days, he turned to Yu Nianzhen with a frustrated expression.
"This formation is not in my inheritance, and after studying it for so long, I can’t deduce what it’s meant to be." He said, and the swordsman subconsciously frowned.
"I found a teleportation stone." He said, opening his palm for Jiang Yue to see the stone.
Teleportation stones were not native to the Cangxing continent.
However, the two had seen them in the Reincarnation world and knew that some worlds had teleportation stones.
"Teleportation stones form in pairs. The devils left a stone here, meaning that they intend to return at some point." Jiang Yue concluded, and Yu Nianzhen nodded.
"I think so too. They probably plan to return to complete the formation." He said.
