Chapter 66: How?
When Jiang Yue’s whip met the fist, a loud thump reverberated in the surroundings.
Soon after, a piercing scream split the silence, and the young woman was flung backwards.
Her hand was severed by the whip, and blood was pouring out of the exposed stump.
"You..." Someone shouted, and four figures rushed towards Jiang Yue.
They didn’t really care about the woman, but they couldn’t stand that Jiang Yue had injured one in their alliance.
"It’s good that you come together, it will save a lot of time."
Jiang Yue was not flustered.
He rushed towards the four and swung his whip in a wide arc.
The whip sped through the air and arrived in front of the four in the blink of an eye.
"You are too arrogant." This was said by the cultivator from Ghost Valley.
He threw something in front, and Jiang Yue’s whip bounced back.
"Ghost flag?"
Jiang Yue looked at the thing and immediately recognised it as a ghost flag.
"Li Futian, can you fight?" He suddenly asked.
After meeting, the two had not encountered any danger until now.
Because of that, Jiang Yue had no idea whether his travel companion could fight or not.
"I can." Li Futian answered simply.
Although it was not obvious, Jiang Yue heard a trace of anger in his voice.
"Good. I will deal with the ghost first. Try to distract the others."
Jiang Yue was also angry.
He had been in the Cangxing world for five years, and his sense of belonging was still inferior to his feelings for earth.
However, the Cangxing world was his world now.
When he saw a ghost flag refined using hundreds of souls, he couldn’t help but be angry.
"Leave it to me."
After hearing the other’s answer, Jiang Yue did not hesitate.
He swung his whip again, and this time, he specifically targeted the ghost valley cultivator.
When the cultivator saw this, he burst out into laughter.
His laughter was like a witch’s cackle, and it made everyone feel a little uncomfortable.
"A little disciple from a righteous sect. Today, I will let you strengthen my ghost flag."
After saying that, he shook the ghost flag and howling filled the valley.
Ten distorted heads emerged from the flag and began screaming at Jiang Yue.
When he saw this, Jiang Yue was reminded of "the scream" by Edvard Munch.
’I have never liked phantasmagoria.’ He thought and rushed toward the Ghost Valley cultivator.
However, he soon realised that something was wrong and quickly retreated.
"See how I refine your soul."
The ghost cultivator didn’t allow Jiang Yue to retreat.
He shook his flag, and the souls trapped in his flag howled louder.
The surrounding area turned cold, and the world became a little grey.
’How to deal with this?’ Jiang Yue wondered.
Although he knew about the Ghost Valley, this was the first time he met a ghost cultivator.
Because of this, he didn’t know how to deal with them.
’I can only do my best.’
He swung his whip again, and this time, it connected with the ghosts that protruded from the ghost flag.
However, the whip only encountered a slight resistance before it passed through the ghosts.
When Jiang Yue saw this, he realised that his whip was useless against the ghost flag.
Without delay, he put it away, and a pipa appeared in his arms.
"Ghost howl." The ghost cultivator shouted at this time.
As if injected with chicken blood, the ghost souls screamed louder.
The scream was not only louder, but it penetrated the ears and entered Jiang Yue’s body.
Soon after, Jiang Yue felt like his soul was submerged in ice water.
His vision became a little blurry, and his mind slowed.
’This is bad.’
He bit his tongue, and blood filled his mouth.
The metallic taste of blood shocked his mind, and he felt a little active.
Without delay, he retreated backwards until he felt that his body was no longer affected by the ghost howl.
However, he didn’t relax because the ghost cultivator was chasing him.
’I will try lullaby.’
As he continued to retreat, a pleasant sound filled the air.
It felt like listening to a light drizzle while safely tucked in a warm bed.
It was comforting, and those who heard it couldn’t help but want to close their eyes.
The ghost cultivator was no different.
When he heard it, he couldn’t resist.
His hurried chase came to a stop, and his eyes drooped uncontrollably.
Soon after, a discordant note cut through the relaxed atmosphere and the ghost cultivator came to.
However, it was too late.
When he managed to shake out the cobwebs in his mind, another sound filled his mind.
This sound was like scratching a blackboard using nails.
It was annoying and it disturbed his mind, causing his thoughts to scatter as soon as they formed.
While in this state, he didn’t realise that a slipknot had appeared around his neck.
When he did, it was already too late because the knot had already tightened around his neck.
Soon after, his head was separated from his neck, and his eyes were forever stuck in disbelief.
After killing the ghost cultivator, Jiang Yue sighed in relief.
At this moment, he realised that he was too arrogant.
The ghost cultivator was only in the eighth level of the origin forging realm.
If he was in the ninth level, Jiang Yue wouldn’t have been able to kill him so easily.
’I need more knowledge. Otherwise, I will soon end up in trouble.’
After that, Jiang Yue walked toward the body of the ghost cultivator.
"He has a storage ring." Jiang Yue chuckled as soon as he saw the ring.
"He is probably a young master. Otherwise, he wouldn’t get a chance to enter the secret realm with his cultivation level."
Jiang Yue removed the ring and sunk his consciousness into it.
Soon after, he laughed once again.
In the storage ring, Jiang Yue found a fortune.
There weren’t many herbs since the secret realm had just hoped, but there were many other resources.
From a casual perusal, he found hundreds of talismans, pills, and weapons.
Although most of the items were evil, Jiang Yue didn’t plan to throw them away. In the secret realm, poisons and even the ghost flag would come in handy.
"As I thought, most of the benefits from this secret realm will be collected from cultivator bodies." He said as he collected everything.
Afterwards, he set the body on fire before he turned to Li Futian.
"This..." He exclaimed as soon as he turned about.
While he dealt with the ghost cultivator, Li Futian was dealing with the other three.
At most, Jiang Yue expected the other to delay the three but what happened was different.
Jiang Yue didn’t know how or when, but Li Futian had already killed the others including his fellow sect disciple.
When he saw this, Jiang Yue was not only surprised but also wary.
At first, he agreed to travel with Li Futian because he thought he could easily defeat the other.
However, after this incident, he didn’t believe so.
From looking at the bodies strewn around, Jiang Yue couldn’t tell how they had been killed.
The bodies were intact, and there was no blood caused by injuries.
The only abnormality was the surprised look on their faces.
"Fellow Daoist Li is very good."
Li Futian chuckled when he heard this.
He then turned to Jiang Yue and spoke, "fellow Daoist Li shouldn’t be so distracted."
"What do you mean?" Jiang Yue narrowed his eyes and looked at the other.
"I believe that fellow Daoist Jiang Yue will soon figure it out."
Li Futian didn’t want to talk anymore.
Instead, he walked toward the three bodies and began to collect their belongings.
"Fellow Daoist Jiang should take hers." Li Futian tilted his head towards the woman that Jiang Yue had previously injured.
However, she was now dead, and she had the same surprised look as the others.
"I will not take what I didn’t earn." Jiang Yue said.
Li Futian turned to him, but the other had a stubborn look. He could tell that Jiang Yue had become warier of him and didn’t want to treat him casually.
"The woman was injured by fellow Daoist Jiang, I only dealt the final blow."
After thinking about it for a moment, Jiang Yue also recognized this fact.
"We will each take half of her belongings."
"Good."
Soon after, two people removed everything from the woman’s storage bag.
Her belongings couldn’t compare to the ghost cultivator that Jiang Yue killed, but they weren’t few.
"Fellow Daoist Jiang, there is no need to be wary about me." Li Futian said all of a sudden.
However, his words had the opposite effect.
From what Jiang Yue could see, Li Futian was older than him, but not by a lot. This meant that his talent was not inferior to Jiang Yue’s.
More importantly, he was from the Celestial Sky sect and used strange methods.
’I would be stupid not to be wary about a powerful stranger who intentionally approached me.’ He thought but smiled at Li Futian.
