Chapter 634: Sea Beasts Tide 2
Tang Xiao and Qian Chen were assigned to the fifth outpost island.
When they saw Ying Wu rush out, they didn’t hesitate.
Their drew their swords and also ran towards the shore, ready to meet the approaching sea beasts.
"Qian Chen, there is something I want to say to you when the sea beast tide is over." Tang Xiao suddenly said.
"Can’t you say it now?"
"It’s better to wait until after the sea beast tide." Tang Xiao said, looking at Qian Chen with a solemn look.
"Okay." Qian Chen agreed.
However, he didn’t plan to follow Tang Xiao’s script.
After all, just because Tang Xiao needed to wait until after the beast tide didn’t mean he had to do the same.
When he found an opportunity, he planned to confess everything that was in his mind and heart.
However, now was not the right time so he suppressed his thoughts and focused on his surroundings.
"It will be easier to fight in a less crowded place. Let’s move away from the team. " Qian Chen suggested and without waiting for Tang Xiao’s answer, he broke away from the crowd.
Tang Xiao was also not slow.
Soon after, the two stopped at a far shore and began killing the approaching sea beasts.
"Tang Xiao, do you want to compete?"
"What will I get if I win?"
"What do you want?"
Hearing the question, Tang Xiao fell into thought but couldn’t say the answer in his heart.
In the end, he sighed and chose to turn the question around.
"I can’t think of anything for the time being.. What about you? What do you want?" He asked.
’What else can I want?’ Qian Chen thought and looked Tang Xiao’s lips with a meaningful expression.
"I..." He started but suddenly stopped.
"Look out." He shouted.
At the same time, he changed the direction of his sword and a light blue slash flew towards Tang Xiao’s left.
Seeing the slash, a sea beast drew its swords and hastily blocked the slash.
"It’s a level two ten armed red octopus." Qian Chen stated after Tang Xiao moved to stand beside him.
"It’s also a swordsman." Tang Xiao frowned.
Generally, demonic beasts had better physical strength than human cultivators.
Because of this, demonic beasts rarely chose to use weapons instead of their strong bodies.
However it was not unheard of to encounter demonic beasts that were uncommonly skilled in swordsmanship or other weaponry.
’I don’t know if this octopus is a proper swordsman or just a sword user.’ Qian Chen wondered while looking at the ten armed octopus.
"Human, I like your sword." The octopus said, looking at Qian Chen’s light blue sword.
"You can take it after you defeat me." Qian Chen said, raised his sword, and slashed at the octopus.
"Shall I..." Tang Xiao started but Qian Chen shook his head.
[I can deal with it.] Qian Chen transmitted and Tang Xiao nodded before moving aside to look for another oopponent.
At the same time, the octopus used one of its swords to block Qian Chen’s attacks.
"Humam, I have ten swords. You can’t defeat me." The octopus mocked and Qian Chen sneered.
"The number of swords doesn’t matter. What matters is technique."
"In thay case..." The octopus moved three arms and a water blade cyclone flew towards Qian Chen.
Seeing this, Qian Chen narrowed his eyes and blocked.
How were, the water blade cyclone was more powerful than he expected.
Although he managed to block it, he was forced to retreat three metres.
"How do you like my three-blade cyclone?" The octuous asked but didn’t wait for an answer.
Instead, it unleashed another attack while moving closer to Qian Chen.
"Not bad." Qian Chen smiled while blocking the attack.
However, his heart was not calm.
’I didn’t expect a sea beast to have such a high level of swordsmanship.’ He thought but he wasn’t discouraged.
"You have shown me your three-blade cyclone. I will now show you my nine Cresent slash." Qian Chensaid and directly unleashed an attack.
Soon after, nine Cresent-shaped slashes rushed towards the octopus.
At first, the octopus didn’t take the attack seriously.
After all, the human only used one sword.
However, the Cresent slashes were not weak.
Before the octopus knew it, the slashes arrived in front of it and directly broke through its defenses.
In desperation, the octhpus tried to add another guard but it was already too late.
In one moment, the octopus was staging three metres from Qian Chen but in the next, it was flung ten metres away, it’s blood flying into the sky.
Seeing this, Qian Chen wasn’t happy.
Instead, he frowned and tightened his hand around his sword hilt.
’I would have killed it in one strike if I had properly masteed the sword art.’ He thought but didn’t dwell on it.
Without waiting for the octopus to react, Qian Chen flew forward and unleashed another attack.
However, the octopus had learned it’s lesson.
When it saw the approaching attack, it folded its arms inward, causing its sword tips to gather in a kind of shield.
Soon after, Cresent shaped slashes hit the sword shield but were directly scattered.
"Good move." Qian Chen praised and launched another attack.
Seeing this, the octopus panicked and rolled into the sea, avoiding the attack.
"Are you going to escape?" Qian Chen taunted.
However, the octopus wasn’t stupid.
After glaring at Qian Chen, it dove into the sea and disappeared.
"Coward." Qian Chen muttered and began killing the surrounding sea beasts.
On the first day of the sea beasts tide, only level one sea beasts and an occasional level two attacked the islands.
This trend continued for fifteen days and the Zhenyue cultivators couldn’t help but be complacent.
"I thought killing sea beast would be more difficult." One said.
"I also thought so." Another said and continued.
"I prepared many rejuvenation pills but I haven’t had a chance to use one."
"You too? I also wasted my immortal stones on ten bottles of rejuvenation pills. I regret it."
"If I knew his would happen, I wouldn’t have wasted so many immortal stones on talismans and weapons. It’s a loss."
"This sea beast tide reminds me of grinding while playing games. As long as we persist, we will eventually kill all the sea beasts."
As the people described, the current situation was a lot like grinding.
Although the number of sea beasts was overwhelming, few felt any pressure.
They just felt they would eventually win as long they persisted in their grinding.
When he saw the prevailing attitude, Jiang Yue frowned.
"They are taking the sea beast tide too lightly." He said and Yu Nianzhen also frowned.
"Azhen, should we warn them?"
Hearing this, Yu Nianzhen decisively shook his head.
"Before the sea beast tide came, we specifically explained what would happen." Yu Nianzhen said and quickly continued.
"We told them the early days were a testing period. The sea beasts would send their weak members to test the waters. The real attack would come after that."
"However, our people seem to not have taken our words seriously. They seem to think that the sea beasts are thoughtless animals incapable of strategy and subterfuge. Even we warn them, they will remember it for a few days but soon forget it."
"Azhen, do you mean..." Jiang Yue started and Yu Nianzhen nodded without waiting for Jiang Yue to finish his words.
"Let them experience the horror of a sea beast tide. After the lesson, they won’t dare to act recklessly in the future."
When he heard this, Jiang Yue sighed.
Among the Zhen Yue people, some were family and friends.
Considering thay, he instinctively wanted to protect them.
However, he also knew Yu Nianzhen was right.
If the people didn’t learn a harsh lesson, their mentality would not change.
After thinking about it, Jiang Yue no longer dwelled on it.
Instead, he looked at Yu Nianzhen with a solemn expression.
"Why hasn’t Tian’er returned from the bottom of the sea?" He asked, his brows creased in a frown.
Although Ao Tian was a level eight demonic beast, Jiang Yue still worried about it.
First, it was a friend but most importantly, it was Yu Nianzhen’s contracted beast.
If something happened to it, Yu Nianzhen would also suffer and this was a result Jiang Yue didn’t want to see.
"It seems the situation is more complicated than we thought." Yu Nianzhen frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"Ao Tian said he discovered something strange. However, he doesnt know the exact situation so he wants to investigate before returning to the surface."
Hearing this, Jiang Yue frowned.
"Azhen, I also have a strange feeling about this sea beast tide. The strangeness is more than the fact that the tide was artificially caused. What about you? Do you feel strange?" Jiang Yue asked and Yu Nianzhen nodded in agreement.
"I can’t pinpoint the strangeness though." He said.
"Maybe Ao Tian will give us an answer when he returns."
