Chapter 54: Self-Made Whip Art
"Old nine, do you dare?"
When the voice fell, the sea rolled, and the air turned a little stagnant.
A terrifying sense of blood enveloped everyone, and all turned towards the speaker.
"That is?" Jiang Yue asked as he looked at the speaker.
She was beautiful, and her graceful figure was wrapped in silver armour.
Contrary to her appearance, she had a heroic presence that was magnified by the long spear she carried in her right hand.
"She is the second legion’s nascent soul commander. Her name is Wang Ling." Qin Junjun answered.
"Then that?" He pointed at the crab that was floating five kilometres away.
"It’s the territory lord of this sea area, the nine-legged crab. I heard that it has the bloodline of the twelve-legged crab."
Jiang Yue frowned when he heard that.
The twelve-legged crab was a legendary sea beast whose realm was beyond a class five beast.
Although it had disappeared together with the human heroes, its descendants still lived in the eastern sea.
If the nine-legged crab was a descendant of the twelve-legged crab, its potential and strength were higher than other class five beasts.
’Why did it appear?’ He wondered as he looked at the crab.
It filled him with terror, and he had to restrain his flight instinct.
"Commander, this lord has long wanted to test the little girl’s spear."
After saying that, the nine-legged crab did not hesitate.
It sunk its claws into the water, and the sea began to boil.
Soon after, nine water pillars rose from the sea and rushed toward commander Wang.
When she saw this, her mouth curled in a sneer.
She swung her arm, and nine spear shadows flew toward the water pillars.
Half a breath later, the two forces collided and dissipated into nothing.
"I will accompany you." Commander Wang flew forward, and her spear hit the crab’s huge body.
However, the crab shell was as hard as the spear.
The two retreated a few metres before rushing towards each other for another clash.
"This is strange." Jiang Yue observed.
"What is?"
"Normally, class five sea beasts and nascent souls don’t fight. Why did the nine-legged crab challenge our commander?"
"Also, the war has just started..."
Jiang Yue wanted to say more, but before he could, he felt a tingling at the back of his neck.
On his instinct, he grabbed Qin Junjun and jumped a few metres to the side.
"Human, I have found you again." A voice said, and Jiang Yue frowned.
He remembered that voice, and his heart sunk a little.
It was only a few days since he fought the spear-wielding squid, and his level was only slightly better than before.
Knowing that he was no match for the squid, Jiang Yue made his decision quickly.
"Let’s retreat into the array." He urged Qin Junjun and immediately began to move.
However, the squid was prepared.
Before Jiang Yue had moved more than a metre, eight water spears blocked his way.
"You won’t escape a second time."
Like before, the squid moved to block Jiang Yue’s escape route.
However, Jiang Yue was not like before.
As soon as the water spears appeared in front of him, he did not dodge to the side.
Instead, he blocked with his whip and allowed the impact to push him backwards.
"Don’t think about using the previous trick." The squid bellowed and swung its spears once again.
"I remember that squid cooks easily." Qin Junjun shouted, and flames fell on the squid.
Qin Junjun had a flame origin, and she had contracted a pill flame after breaking through to the origin forging realm.
Although her flame had a calm nature and was best for alchemy, it could still burn the squid.
The squid roared in anger and turned its attention to the girl.
"I am your opponent." Jiang Yue swung his whip, and the whip shadows landed on the squid’s exposed back.
The squid roared again, and its eyes turned red.
"Don’t get ahead of yourself." It glided towards Qin Junjun and swung its arms.
Before she could react, eight water spears rushed toward her.
’I can’t evade.’
Just when she thought the spears would pierce her, she felt something on her waist, and her body was dragged away.
"Be careful, it’s very fast."
Jiang Yue released the whip that was around her waist and set her down.
"What do we do? We are not its opponent."
Jiang Yue frowned when he heard her statement.
He initially wanted to retreat, but that was no longer an option.
After the nine-legged crab appeared on the battlefield, the sea beasts had become more courageous.
Left and right, sea beasts were fighting the army and fellow disciples.
Even class two, class three, and class four sea beasts had appeared which pulled in higher realm cultivators to fight them.
In this situation, it was difficult to retreat or receive help from a higher realm cultivator.
"Fight."
Jiang Yue made his decision, and his eyes narrowed in focus.
Although the sea beast was more powerful than he was, he was no longer alone.
With Qin Junjun’s help, there was a slight chance of victory.
"Your fire attack seems effective against it." Jiang Yue said.
"I will distract it, and you will look for an opportunity to attack."
"Okay." Qin Junjun was also decisive, and she immediately nodded her head.
"Squid, this day next year will be your death anniversary."
Qin Junjun looked at Jiang Yue, and the other blushed in embarrassment.
"I wanted to say it at least once." He mumbled before he rushed forward.
"With your little ability?" The squid also rushed forward.
Six spears were outstretched to meet Jiang Yue’s whip, while two remained at its side.
"Accept my whip."
When he previously fought the squid, Jiang Yue’s qi was already low.
However, this time was different.
He had just returned to the battlefield after resting within the array. Because of this, his qi was full, and he didn’t need to fight cautiously.
Although he didn’t dare to use his whip shadows art, he had enough qi to coat the entire five metres of the blue snakeskin whip.
This not only increased the whip’s attack power but also allowed him to manipulate the whip better.
At this moment, the whip curled in a ’Z’ shape to block the six spears.
"All blocked...?"
The squid was surprised.
When it previously fought the human child, the child could barely block half its spears.
However, the child had now blocked six of its spears without an effort.
As the two fought, Qin Junjun took the opportunity to release a pill furnace.
The pill furnace was a peak-grade silver rank treasure.
It had three openings, and each was spewing out red flames.
When the whip and spears met, she would take the chance to throw flames from the three mouths.
However, the effect was minimal.
Her pill flame was tame, and the squid always left two spears behind to deal with her attack.
She was about to attack again when a red glow appeared at the edge of her vision.
"A human with a flame origin is a great tonic for me." A voice said.
The voice had a crackling quality, and when she turned, Qin Junjun saw a red coral.
"Mid-grade class one fire corral." She intoned.
The corral was two metres tall, but its flaming tentacles could extend longer than its height.
"The beast core of a fire coral is also useful to me." Qin Junjun said and cast an eye at Jiang Yue.
She wanted to help him fight the squid, but the fire corral couldn’t be ignored.
"Don’t worry about me, and take care of yourself." Jiang Yue shouted as he swung his whip.
"Arrogant." The squid snorted, and this time, it didn’t keep its hands.
Eight spears spiralled towards Jiang Yue, and the momentum caused the surrounding sea to twist around.
Jiang Yue did not panic.
He coated the whip with a clear qi and swung it towards the eight spears.
As it swung forward, the whip tied itself into eight tight knots.
When the knots impacted with the spears, Jiang Yue and the squid were pushed backwards by the resulting force.
’It worked.’ Jiang Yue thought as he wiped blood from the edge of his mouth.
The eight knots were something he thought of while recovering after the previous fight with the spear-wielding squid.
He hadn’t used the method before, and using it now was taking a risk, but he was determined.
When he saw the result, Jiang Yue couldn’t help but smile.
Forming the eight knots didn’t consume a lot of qi, and they could block most of the spear’s power.
’If I make the knots bigger and tighter, they could probably block all the spear’s power.’
After thinking about it, Jiang tried it in the next attack.
However, forming bigger and tighter knots was harder than expected.
Still, he was satisfied with the outcome.
’For now, I should try to form the whip into eight slipknots to trap the spears.’
