Chapter 499: Destiny
Hearing this, Jiang Yue stopped walking and his eyes turned thoughtful.
A moment later, he looked at Yu Nianzhen with a confused expression.
"Azhen, I remember how master was during the Ice Palace martial contest and the years since then. He has always loved the mistress but..."
"He doesn’t seem heartbroken." Yu Nianzhen finished.
"Mmmh." Jiang Yue nodded and quickly continued.
"He is confused and angry but not heartbroken. What in the world is going on?"
"I don’t know." Yu Nianzhen said and frowned.
"For now, let’s talk to fellow Daoist Liu Sen and find out what he knows.
"Good." Jiang Yue agreed.
Soon after, the two entered Liu Sen’s room in the information hall.
"Mountain master, deputy mountain master." Liu Sen greeted.
"Fellow Daoist Liu." Jiang Yue greeted and Yu Nianzhen nodded.
"Mountain master, deputy mountain master, please sit down and have tea."
With that, the three sat around a stone table.
After Liu Sen prepared and served the tea, Jiang Yue looked at the person.
"Fellow Daoist Liu, what can you tell us about the current situation?" He asked.
Hearing this, Liu Sen frowned and put his teacup down.
"Five days ago, fellow Daoist Bing came to me and said she wants to defect. After that, she left the mountain and has yet to return."
"That’s all?" Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but frown.
"She only asked me to inform the mountain master but said nothing else."
"What about your ants?" Jiang Yue asked.
"I put an ant on her but she killed it as soon as she left the mountain. There is no way of knowing what she is up to." Liu Sen said with some displeasure in his voice.
"Let us know if you discover something new." Yu Nianzhen instructed.
"I understand mountain master."
After that, Liu Sen briefed the two on everything he found out since they left Cangxing Mountain.
Fortunately, the Cangxing mountain was relatively stable and there was nothing to worry about for the time being.
After they left the information hall, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen headed to Li Futian’s cave.
"Brothers." Li Futian greeted.
"Brother Li." Jiang Yue said with a smile on his face.
"How are you?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"My condition is stable." Li Futian answered and welcomed the two into the cave.
"Brother Li, were you expecting us?" Jiang Yue inquired.
Hearing this, Li Futian chuckled but didn’t deny it.
Instead, he led the two to the sitting area and offered refreshments.
"Brothers, I have divined senior Yang’s matter." Li Futian said and sighed.
"What do you know?" Jiang Yue asked in an urgent voice.
"The relationship between senior Yang and fellow Daoist Bing is a perverted fate that has carried over from their previous life." Li Futian informed.
"Perverted fate? What does the mean?" Jiang Yue was confused and couldn’t help but look at his husband.
Unfortunately, Yu Nianzhen was also confused so he shook his head in denial.
Seeing their confusion, Li Futian sighed and a trace of helplessness flashed in his eyes.
"Originally, my cultivation and ability were low and I couldn’t see the truth. However, my abilities have improved and I have a clearer idea of what is going on."
"Brother Li, can you please tell us?" Jiang Yue asked a little impatiently.
"Senior Yang and fellow Daoist Bing are not destined."
"What do you mean?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"From my recent understanding, I know that ordinary people have eighty-one destined partners."
"You..., what do you mean?" Jiang Yue asked and subconsciously held his husband’s hand.
Although he and Yu Nianzhen were soul-bound Taoist companions, he didn’t want to think there were eighty other destined partners for his lover.
Seeing this, Li Futian chuckled.
"Brother Li and Brother Yu don’t have to worry about rivals." Li Futian said and continued before either of the two could question him.
"Like everything else, destined relationships have grades. In frank language, this means that some destinies are easy to ignore while some are difficult or impossible to break."
"Taoist companions with a grade nine destined relationship can have a lifetime of passionate love and companionship. In the same way, people with a grade one destined relationship are easy to let go of and forget each other."
"What kind of destiny do Azhen and I have?" Jiang Yue asked and subconsciously squeezed Yu Nianzhen’s hand.
"You have a grade ten destiny." Li Futian said and couldn’t help the trace of jealousy in his heart.
"A grade ten destiny is the rarest of all destined relationships. Most importantly, people with a grade ten destiny only have one destined partner. It’s what is commonly referred to as soulmates."
When they heard this, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen heaved a sigh of relief.
Just the thought of having a destined relationship with eighty other people made them feel extremely uncomfortable.
Fortunately, they were only destined for each other.
’Fortunately.’ Jiang Yue thought with a soft smile in his eyes.
"What about master and...fellow Daoist Bing?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"They do not have a destined relationship. Not even the lowest grade one destiny." Li Futian said.
"How is that possible? If they have no destiny, how could they become Taoist companions?" Jiang Yue asked.
"Either senior Yang or fellow Daoist Bing did something in their previous life to pervert the fate of this life. However, destiny is not so easy to alter."
"I don’t know why but the destined course has begun to reestablish." Li Futian finished.
"What a headache." Jiang Yue muttered and the other two couldn’t help but agree.
Their current life’s problems were already more than they could handle.
If past life problems came into the mix, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen didn’t know what to do.
"Brother Li, do you know anything about my master’s past life?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"Sorry, I don’t know anything." Li Futian said and shrugged.
"It seems we have no choice but to find Bing Lan." Jiang Yue said with a frown on his face.
"We can’t take this matter lightly." Yu Nianzhen suddenly said.
"Azhen, what’s on your mind?"
"At our current cultivation level, none of us can subvert fate. If Bing Lan did it in her previous life and has recalled her past life’s memories, her knowledge and understanding is far more than we can imagine."
"I hadn’t thought of that." Jiang Yue said and frowned.
A moment later, he turned to Li Futian and looked at him with a cautious look in his voice.
"Brother Li, can you do a divination for our Cangxing mountain?"
"Brother Jiang, I have already done a divination." Li Futian said and frowned.
"Is something wrong?"
"Unfortunately, my soul is in a fragile state and I could only manage the most basic divination."
"If all goes well, our Cangxing alchemists may get an inheritance in the Burial Province. If not, we will issue a reward for the nine-turn rebirth pill. Leave the matter to us, brother Li." Jiang Yue reassured.
"Thank you, brothers." Li Futian said and smiled.
"What about our Cangxing mountain?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
Hearing this, Li Futian smiled and the other two were immediately relieved.
"The fortune of our Cangxing mountain is good. Our Cangxing world is about to rise again. However, I only saw this but didn’t see the specifics."
"The specifics don’t matter. It’s enough to know that our efforts are not dooming our Cangxing world." Jiang Yue said and looked at Yu Nianzhen.
"I also think so." Yu Nianzhen reassured and nodded.
After all, he was a swordsman.
Rather than rely on divination to build the future of the Cangxing world, Yu Nianzhen preferred to rely on his efforts and those of those around him.
In the end, divination could only be a northern star but not the complete strategy.
"Although it seems urgent, the matter of fellow Daoist Bing isn’t pressing for the time being." Li Futian said with a solemn look in his eyes.
Given his current health, it was best for Li Futian to stay in retreat unless it was absolutely necessary to leave seclusion.
Knowing that, Li Futian didn’t leave retreat easily.
If it was just the matter of Bing Lan, he would have waited a few years before leaving seclusion.
However, there was an urgent issue that made him uneasy and unable to sit still.
"Brother Li, is something wrong?" Jiang Yue asked with a concerned look in his eyes.
"If there is something, don’t hesitate to tell us." Yu Nianzhen stated.
"Brothers, there is indeed an opportunity for alchemists in the Burial Province. You didn’t make a mistake in sending our people there." Li Futian said.
"That’s a relief." Jiang Yue said and smiled.
At first, they only speculated but weren’t sure of the cause of the strange disappearances in the Burial province.
Fortunately, their speculations were correct and the gamble had paid off.
’I hope those alchemists won’t disappoint us.’ Jiang Yue thought.
"That said, brother Jiang, do you have a sister?" Li Futian asked with a solemn look in his eyes.
