Chapter 421: Origin Stars
From above, the Sea of Enlightenment looked like a real ocean.
However, when Yu Nianzhen touched its surface, he realised the ocean wasn’t made of water.
Rather than enter water, he entered a world of stars.
There were billions of stars floating around him and each was shaped differently.
Some were shaped like weapons, others were animals, plants, rocks, and anything anyone could think of.
’Are they origin tools?’ He suddenly wondered.
"XiaoYue..." He started and looked to the side.
However, he realised that the person who was previously next to him was no longer there.
"XiaoYue." He shouted, feeling a little anxious.
However, neither Jiang Yue nor Li Futian was anywhere to be found.
"Were we separated when we entered the sea of enlightenment?" He muttered with a thoughtful look on his face.
Generally, comprehending the dao was a personal matter.
Before they entered the sea of enlightenment, he should have suspected they would be separated.
Unfortunately, he didn’t think of it and missed the opportunity to say a few words to his lover.
"Nevertheless, I can’t waste this opportunity." He said and forcibly suppressed his discomfort.
When he regained his calm, Yu Nianzhen began to carefully look around.
’If each star represents a kind of origin, I should find one that looks like a sword.’
With that thought, Yu Nianzhen began to shuttle among the stars.
When he approached a star, some would move to avoid him while others would get a little closer.
However, none of the stars were shaped like a sword so Yu Nianzhen didn’t bother.
After looking around for a cup of tea, Yu Nianzhen finally discovered a sword-shaped star.
The star was shining brightly and felt friendlier than the other stars he had encountered before.
However, when Yu Nianzhen reached out to touch it, the star retreated beyond his reach.
"Why?" He couldn’t help but be surprised.
With a little more care, he reached out again.
Unfortunately, the result was the same.
As soon as his fingers were about to touch the sword-shaped origin, the star flew away.
’Do I need to use some means? Maybe qi, sword intent, or soul power.’ He thought and successively tried the methods.
However, the sword-shaped star still refused to be caught.
Just when Yu Nianzhen was feeling a little desperate, he saw another sword-shaped star from the corner of his eye.
Without hesitation, he flew to it and tried to capture it.
However, this star could also not be captured no matter which methods he used.
"Could it be..." He muttered and thoughtfully looked at the star on the inner side of his right wrist.
After breaking through to the origin forging realm, each cultivator received a star on their wrist.
The star not only represented a cultivator’s talent and potential but also their distinctive identity with regard to origin.
At this time, Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but wonder if the stars in the sea of enlightenment had anything to do with the star on each cultivator’s wrist.
With the mentality of giving it a try, Yu Nianzhen found a sword-shaped star.
After that, he sensed the star on his wrist and tried to make a connection with the sword-shaped star.
A moment later, he felt a kind of connection with the sword-shaped star.
However, the connection was so vague that he immediately knew the sword-shaped star would escape if he tried to touch it.
"I get it." He said and sighed.
Now that he had a direction, Yu Nianzhen was no longer anxious.
He began chasing after sword-shaped stars and sensing to establish a connection.
However, none of the stars were right and before he knew it, Yu Nianzhen left the periphery of the sea of enlightenment and entered the depths.
"Coloured stars?" Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but exclaim when he saw a few coloured stars.
"I am too stupid." He despised himself.
Origin stars were ranked by colour.
If he had thought of it sooner, Yu Nianzhen wouldn’t have worked so hard to test the colourless stars.
However, everything was an experience and Yu Nianzhen didn’t want to dwell on afterthoughts.
Rather than that, it was best to find the star that belonged to him so that he could begin enlightening the dao as soon as possible.
"At first, my origin was purple but it has since turned into a chaos grey." He muttered as he flew past some iron-coloured stars.
In the Cangxing world, there were seven ranks of stars.
The lowest rank was the colourless stars.
These stars only appeared on cultivators whose potential was exhausted after breaking through to the origin forging realm.
Unless they encountered a heaven-defying opportunity, such cultivators had no hope of advancing to the second level of the origin-forging realm.
After the colourless stars were iron stars, bronze stars, silver stars, gold stars, blue stars, and finally, purple stars.
From research, Yu Nianzhen knew that his and Jiang Yue’s chaos grey stars were a mutation.
However, the mutation was caused by contracting primordial beasts and could not be easily replicated for others.
’Speaking of primordial beasts, when can I see my contract beast.’ Yu Nianzhen thought, feeling a little depressed.
In the Nine Treasures secret realm, he felt the contract beast and thought it was finally ready to appear.
As it turned out, Yu Nianzhen was thinking too much.
Rather than appear, it wanted him to grab a few more treasures from the space area of the Nine Treasures secret realm.
From this, Yu Nianzhen suspected that the beast’s power had something to do with space.
However, there was no way to confirm anything for the time being.
’There is no need to force it.’ He thought and sighed.
’When the time is right, the beast will appear and all my questions will be answered.’
After that, Yu Nianzhen focused on flying while looking around.
Several hours later, he finally saw a purple star.
However, the star was shaped like a lotus and had nothing to do with Yu Nianzhen.
’First look at the purple stars. If I can’t find the correct star, I will continue to search for a chaos grey sword-shaped star.’ He thought and immediately began to look around.
Soon after, Yu Nianzhen found a sword-shaped star.
The star exuded a noble purple light and was bigger than other lower-ranked stars of the same kind.
"Try it first." Yu Nianzhen said and immediately tried to sense the star.
Compared to the colourless star, his connection to the purple star was deeper and more mysterious.
However, Yu Nianzhen still felt that something was not right.
With a frown on his face, he broke the connection and a thoughtful light flashed in his eyes.
"I will try another one first."
Three tries later, Yu Nianzhen was convinced.
’Although the connection with purple stars is deeper, it’s not perfect. I have to find chaos grey stars.’ He thought and continued to fly deeper into the depths of the sea of enlightenment.
More than a day later, he saw his first Chaos Grey star.
The star was a moon pearl and Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but stop.
A moment later, he tried to sense the moon pearl and unexpectedly, he felt a slight connection.
"This is XiaoYue’s star." He said with some nostalgia in his voice.
It was only a few days since he saw Jiang Yue but Yu Nianzhen missed him terribly.
Encountering Jiang Yue’s star, he couldn’t help but feel even more yearning.
"XiaoYue, I don’t know if you have already found your star." He wondered.
After such a long time without encountering anyone, Yu Nianzhen had already realised that everyone entered separate spaces.
In that case, he had no way of knowing if Jiang Yue had already found his star.
"XiaoYue, I am still looking for my star but I am sure I will find it soon. When I do, I will try my best to comprehend the dao." Yu Nianzhen looked at the star and said.
"When we meet again, I will already have laid a foundation to become an immortal. XiaoYue, I know you are thinking the same so let’s do our best."
After saying that, his eyes hardened and Yu Nianzhen flew away from Jiang Yue’s star.
Half an hour later, he finally saw a sword-shaped star.
The star was like grey smoke but once in a while, a silver light was born from within and it shone brightly to divide the chaos.
"This is it." Yu Nianzhen said as soon as he saw the star.
Even before he approached the star, he already knew it was the most perfect for him.
For some reason, the star gave him a sense of intimacy that resonated with him at an extremely mysterious level.
"XiaoYue, I have found my star." Yu Nianzhen said, a smile lighting his face.
After that, approached the star, sat cross-legged and closed his eyes.
A moment later, a line of grey light formed between Yu Nianzhen and the sword-shaped star.
