Chapter 415: Space Beasts

In the blink of an eye, a beast appeared in front of them.

The beast was three metres tall and had grey skin that looked a bit like tourmaline.

"It’s a space beast." Yang Xu said before anyone could ask.

"How do we kill it?" Yu Nianzhen asked.

"Space beasts live in the void and have extremely hard skin. Its weakness is its eyes." Yang Xu explained.

"I want to deal with this one." Yu Nianzhen immediately offered.

"Go ahead."

After that, Yu Nianzhen rushed forward while swinging his sword.

Although he knew the beast’s skin was hard, he wanted to try it and make his own judgement.

However, the result was as told by his master.

Even while using six points of strength, Yu Nianzhen didn’t leave a mark on the space beast.

Unfortunately, he managed to anger it.

Seeing the puny human who was trying to injure it, the space beast roared.

With the roar, the space around it cracked and everyone was unpleasantly reminded of the space area in the Nine Treasures secret realm.

’I will try the eyes.’ Yu Nianzhen thought and swung his sword diagonally.

Since the Ice Palace martial contest, Yu Nianzhen continued improving his swordsmanship and his falling meteor sword move had reached an unprecedented height.

At this time, a silver sword intent flew from the tip of his sword and rushed towards the space beast.

Before the beast could react, the sword intent dug into its right eye and the beast roared in pain.

Unfortunately, the effect was worse than everyone expected.

Although the sword intent hit, the eye was not pierced.

"Let’s attack together." Yang Xu suddenly made such a decision.

Initially, he wanted to leave it to his disciple.

However, his divine sense had detected two more space beasts that were heading their way.

At a glance, one of the space beasts was about the same as the one in front of Yu Nianzhen while the other was half a metre taller.

After thinking about it, Yang Xu wanted to deal with the first space beast as soon as possible so that they would have a fighting chance against the other two.

"Although the eyes are its weakness, they are also not easy to deal with." Yang Xu said and everyone agreed.

"Be careful of the space cracks." Yu Nianzhen reminded.

"I will draw it into an illusion while everyone attacks." Jiang Yue suggested and the others agreed.

After a lot of effort, the four finally managed to kill the space beast.

However, they exhausted most of their strength and what was left was not enough to deal with one more space beast, let alone two.

"Let’s retreat for the time being." Bing Lan suggested and no one argued.

While keeping an eye on the approaching space beasts, the four retreated until they left the stone forest.

Fortunately, the space beasts stayed at the edge of the stone forest and didn’t follow them out.

"Why aren’t they following?" Jiang Yue asked the question that was in everyone’s mind.

"Could it be a formation?" Bing Lan asked.

"I don’t see..." Jiang Yue started but stopped mid-sentence.

"It’s a natural trapping formation." He said.

"If that’s the case, how did we get out?" Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but wonder.

Unfortunately, Jiang Yue didn’t know the answer.

At first, he didn’t even notice the trapping formation.

If they hadn’t seen the space beasts’ strange behaviour, he would have never realised that they had entered a trapping formation.

"What level is it?" Yang Xu asked.

"I can’t tell." Jiang Yue shrugged and couldn’t help but feel a little frightened.

"On a happy note, my merit points have increased."

Hearing that, everyone checked their sea of consciousness and realised that killing the space beast had earned them one point each.

"Brother Li was right." Jiang Yue said happily and then turned to his Taoist companion.

"Azhen, do you think space beast meat is edible?" He asked.

"This..." Yu Nianzhen was a little shocked to receive the sudden question.

Although the space beast could not speak, it was humanoid.

It was also very old and didn’t look delicious.

Thinking of this, he looked at Jiang Yue with a strange look in his eyes.

"You want to eat it?" He asked.

"The space beast is born in the void and its body contains a lot of space laws. I think it’s beneficial to eat it." Jiang Yue said, sounding a little self-righteous.

However, everyone knew that his desire to eat had little to do with absorbing space laws and more to do with greed.

"My XiaoYue is so diligent." Yu Nianzhen praised with deep admiration in his eyes.

’Disciple, is it okay to ignore your conscience like this?’ Yang Xu thought and looked at Yu Nianzhen with disgust in his eyes.

Receiving the look, Yu Nianzhen was not ashamed.

Instead, he looked at his master with a proud look in his eyes.

’It’s useless to argue with him.’ Yang Xu sighed and looked at the two space beasts within the stone forest.

"Their eyes have a protective membrane." He said.

It’s because of this protective membrane that they worked so hard to kill the first space.

"If we can find a way to deal with the protective membrane, killing the space beasts will be easy."

"It’s difficult to find such a way." Yu Nianzhen said and frowned.

After all, the current space beasts were remnants of an ancient war.

If the ancients couldn’t find a way around the protective membrane, finding it now was like going against the sky.

"There is a lot of demonic qi in the stone forest. Why are the space beasts not affected?" Jiang Yue suddenly asked.

"The cultivation of space beasts doesn’t rely on qi." Yang Xu answered.

In the past, he found an obscure ancient book in the Land of the Fallen.

From the book, he knew that space beasts advanced by ingesting the space elements in the void.

"Fortunately." Jiang Yue said and everyone agreed.

If space beasts could absorb heaven and earth qi or demonic qi, they would have long broken the formation and entered the Cangxing world.

When that happened, the Cangxing world would have experienced an unprecedented disaster.

"I always feel uneasy about the world boundary." Jiang Yue said.

The world boundary was what protected the Cangxing world from space beasts and other foreign races.

If large gaps appeared in the world boundary, the Cangxing world would step on the path to destruction.

"Don’t worry, there aren’t many gaps in the world boundary." Yang Xu said and the other three looked at him in shock.

"What do you mean? Are there gaps in the world boundary?" Bing Lan questioned.

"There are a few gaps. The foreign devil battlefields are around these gaps." Yang Xu said and sighed.

"Now that you are nascent soul realm cultivators, you should know that all cultivators of our level have a duty to patrol the world boundary every so often."

"Is that so?" Yu Nianzhen asked.

"It’s a duty inherited from ancient times. The Celestial Sky sect is in charge of arranging patrol duty."

"It seems we need to pay more attention to the world boundary. If it could be broken once, it can be broken again. More importantly, we have no idea how it was repaired the last time. If something goes wrong, we will be in a lot of trouble." Jiang Yue stated.

"Matters of the world boundary are not urgent. What is urgent are the space beasts in the stone forest. No matter what, we must eliminate them before we have to enter the Treasure Island in a few decades."

"Master is right." Yu Nianzhen agreed.

Since there were merit points associated with killing space beasts, Yu Nianzhen guessed that the beasts were a risk to the Cangxing world.

Although they couldn’t leave the stone forest for the time being, it may not be so in the future.

"I may have noticed something." Bing Lan suddenly said.

"Mistress, do you know how to deal with the space beasts?" Jiang Yue asked.

"Every few breaths, the beasts’ protective membrane weakens for less than half a breath. Did anyone else notice this?"

"I saw it once but didn’t realise it was something that happened every few breaths." Yu Nianzhen said and frowned.

"I didn’t see anything." Jiang Yue shrugged.

"I also didn’t see it." Yang Xu said.

With his superior soul power, he should have noticed such an obvious thing.

However, most of his attention was on their surroundings because he didn’t want their group to be sneak attacked.

"What’s the reason for the occasional weakness?" Jiang Yue couldn’t help but wonder.

"I don’t know this." Bing Lan said and frowned.

"Anyway, if we can focus our attacks during its weak period, we won’t waste as much qi as before." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"Wife, have you thought that the peculiarity is not common among all space beasts?"

"It’s likely but we won’t know until we try it."
