Chapter 410: Poisonous Needles
As expected, the people from the Divine Fist sect left after collecting all the demon-repelling flowers in the backyard of the big house.
However, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen didn’t act right away.
They waited a few hours before returning to the big house.
"I hope no one else will come." Jiang Yue said and sighed.
"It should be..." Yu Nianzhen started and then stopped in surprise.
"What’s wrong?"
"Look at the backyard." Yu Nianzhen said and Jiang Yue turned to look.
"This..., how is it possible?" Jiang Yue was shocked.
When they left, the Divine Fist sect harvested all the flowers in the backyard.
However, after only a few hours, more than one hundred flowers had already grown back.
"XiaoYue, where is the treasure compass pointing?" Yu Nianzhen suddenly asked.
"Still downwards. Why?"
"I don’t know if the flowers are because of the underground treasure or the soil here is special..."
"It’s not impossible that the soil is special." Jiang Yue said and frowned.
Since they came to the big house, the treasure compass always pointed downwards.
However, this did not mean that the soil was not special.
After all, the compass could only point at one treasure at a time.
Seeing that it was pointing downwards, it meant that the underground treasure was more precious than the soil.
"Let’s go underground first." Yu Nianzhen said.
After many twists and turns, he was a little eager to get the underground treasure.
Now that they had a chance, he wanted to go underground as soon as possible.
"That’s also what I mean." Jiang Yue agreed.
Even if the soil was special, it was not going anywhere.
Both people felt it wouldn’t be too late to investigate it after getting the underground treasure.
"Azhen, I will break the formation as soon as possible. Be careful when dealing with the vines."
"Don’t worry."
After that, Yu Nianzhen dealt with the vines while Jiang Yue broke the formation.
An incense stick later, the formation broke and a black light emerged from the ground.
The black light exuded an eerie feeling and the two couldn’t help but feel a little frightened.
"What is it?" Jiang Yue wondered.
However, Yu Nianzhen didn’t have a chance to say anything before they were both wrapped in the black light and teleported from the backyard.
A moment later, they appeared at the entrance of a corridor.
"Are we underground?" Jiang Yue wondered while looking around.
Unfortunately, there was nothing to see except the corridor in front of them.
"We should be." Yu Nianzhen said and then looked at his husband with a solemn look on his face.
"XiaoYue, check to see if there is a formation or exit."
"Okay." Jiang Yue said and opened his illusion eyes.
In the next short while, he looked around carefully but didn’t find any formations or hidden exits.
"It seems that our only way is forward." He said.
"My divine sense can’t investigate the corridor. What about you?"
"I am the same. My divine sense is useless." Jiang Yue said.
At that, the two looked at each other and felt a little wary.
However, they were already riding a tiger and there was no way to get off.
"Let’s go." Yu Nianzhen held Jiang Yue with his left hand and his sword with his right.
At the same time, Jiang Yue used his unoccupied left hand to throw five spirit stones into the corridor.
The five spirit stones were one metre from each and when they fell, nothing happened which made the two feel a little relieved.
"We still have to be careful." Yu Nianzhen reminded.
After all, the spirit stones only impacted small spots on the ground and may have missed the traps in the corridor.
"I know." Jiang Yue said.
After that, the two took a tentative step into the corridor.
Seeing that nothing happened, the two heaved a sigh of relief and then took another step.
However, as soon as their bodies were completely within the corridor, a stone slab appeared behind them and blocked their way back.
"It seems we have entered a ’do’ or ’die’ gamble." Jiang Yue said with a little bitterness in his voice.
"We chose this path so we have to walk it to the end."
"Don’t worry, I will accompany you to the end." Jiang Yue swore and Yu Nianzhen smiled in happiness.
Even in such an unknown situation, he was happy that Jiang Yue was with him.
As long as they were together, they could do anything.
They could suppress gods and conquer demons.
When they were together, the world was at their feet.
"Look at the ground carefully before you take a step." Yu Nianzhen reminded.
Although he didn’t know if there were traps on the ground, Yu Nianzhen didn’t want to take any chances.
After all, they were in an ancient place.
If they fell into a trap, there was no guarantee they could resolve it without losing their lives or a layer of skin.
"I know, I will..." Jiang Yue started but didn’t finish because a red needle shot horizontally from the right wall.
"I didn’t step on anything." He hurriedly defended himself.
"I also didn’t step on anything." Yu Nianzhen said and pulled his husband to lie on the ground.
"Keep your head down." Yu Nianzhen urged and Jiang Yue didn’t dare to raise his head.
Unfortunately, their measures were not enough.
Although they evaded most of the needles that flew from one wall to the other, they didn’t evade them all.
Soon after, a red needle grazed Jiang Yue’s buttocks and a painful scream tore from his throat.
In reflex, he moved his left hand to caress his buttocks but a red needle shot through his palm and he couldn’t help but scream.
"I know it hurts but you have to stay down." Yu Nianzhen spoke through gritted teeth.
Like Jiang Yue, he was also injured.
His right calf was pierced through and a burning pain radiated from the wound to every nerve in his body.
"It fucking hurts." Jiang Yue cursed and Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but smile.
He also wanted to curse but his mind was filled with worry.
’The number of needles is decreasing.’ He thought but his heart didn’t relax.
Although he was not an alchemist or physician, he knew the red needles were not simple.
From the burning pain in his body, he knew he was likely poisoned.
"Azhen, take a detoxifying pill." Jiang Yue said at this time.
"I know." Yu Nianzhen agreed and swallowed a pill.
After swallowing the pill, the solid pill turned into a liquid and the medicinal effect flowed into hidden parts of his body.
A moment later, Yu Nianzhen felt his body cool down and he sighed in relief.
Unfortunately, his relief came too soon.
Less than ten breaths after his body cooled down, the burning resumed with a vengeance.
Initially, it was only an irritating tingle along his meridians but after it recurred, it became an unstoppable fire.
"It’s not working." Jiang Yue said with a little panic in his voice.
"Sit up and try to force the toxins out." Yu Nianzhen suggested.
Fortunately, the needles had already stopped and the two could sit up without worry of being turned into pin cushions.
"It’s useless." Jiang Yue said after failing several times.
He was about to suggest they take the Tree of Life leaves when he noticed something from the corner of his eye.
"Azhen, there is writing on the wall." He said and Yu Nianzhen immediately paid attention.
"It’s written in ancient script." The swordsman said.
The script used in the Cangxing world was different from what was used in ancient times.
From their inherited memories, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen knew that their bodies’ original owners had never learned the ancient script.
Seeing that they could understand the ancient script, the two attributed the phenomenon to their transmigration.
"It’s a cultivation technique." Jiang Yue said after reading the script.
"It says we can get rid of the poison if we circulate our qi according to the method engraved on the wall."
"We only have one hour." Yu Nianzhen continued and the two looked at each other.
Their cultivation techniques were decided in the early years of their cultivation.
Suddenly changing to a random cultivation technique was not only dangerous but may also cause their foundation to collapse.
"Azhen, what do we do?" Jiang Yue questioned with some reluctance in his voice.
On one hand was a poison they did not understand and one that could not be detoxified using the usual methods. If they did not detoxify on time, they would likely be poisoned to death.
Contrary, was their cultivation and future.
If they followed the cultivation technique engraved on the wall, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen did not know what would happen.
Even if they were detoxified, the consequences may be more than they were willing to accept.
"We need to be alive to cultivate." Yu Nianzhen said with a helpless look in his eyes.
