Chapter 358: Overlords
It took two days for Jiang Yue and the other masters to arrange a high-level fifth-rank defence formation.
In that time, the orthodox cultivators lost ninety-six cultivators while the enemy lost thirty-nine.
When the formation was completed, everyone heaved a sigh of relief and became a little relaxed.
"The formation was completed just in time." Xuan Ke said and everyone agreed.
Now that they had a defence formation, they had a safe retreat.
"The other side has also arranged a defence formation. It’s a high-level fourth-rank formation."
"Their defence is a little worse but their offense is better."
"If we kill one more nascent soul and a few core formation realm cultivators, we will have nothing to worry about."
"Everyone should take a good rest tonight. We will begin our hunt tomorrow." Meng Zihua suggested and everyone agreed.
The next morning, council members were divided into two groups.
One half would form teams and lead other cultivators to attack the enemy while the remaining half would stay in the camp to take care of the overall situation.
Yu Nianzhen, Jiang Yue, Yang Xu, and Xuan Ke were in the first group while Li Futian and Bing Lan were in the second.
"Jiang Yue is the primary for this task. Let’s recruit other cultivators and head out." Yang Xu said.
Although his soul power was higher and more powerful than Jian Yue’s, Yang Xu didn’t plan to take over the task unless it was necessary.
"Brother Jiang Yue, how many people should we recruit?" Xuan Ke asked.
"From the information we have, the enemy soul cultivator usually attacks with a large group. She hides in the middle of the group and doesn’t come out unless it is absolutely necessary." Jiang Yue said and then continued.
"We need at least five hundred people."
"Five hundred sounds about right." Yang Xu approved and nodded.
"Not a lot of cultivators are willing to face that soul cultivator." Xuan Ke warned but everyone already knew this.
"We won’t know until we try. Let’s go to the task hall."
In the past two days, the orthodox cultivators had lost the confusion of the first day and become more organised.
While Jiang Yue and the others were arranging the formation, a task hall was established.
The task hall facilitated the formation of teams, issued tasks, and provided information about the enemy.
In this way, confronting the enemy had become a lot more efficient.
When Jiang Yue and his group arrived in the task hall, a lot of cultivators were already gathered.
Some were there to register a team, others were there to take a mission, and others wanted to join a team.
"What should we name our team?" Jiang Yue suddenly asked.
"Heavenly lightning heroes." Xuan Ke said and everyone looked at him strangely.
"What?" He asked.
"Are you not embarrassed?" Jiang Yue asked.
"Embarrassed? What is there to be embarrassed about?"
"I don’t know about the others I will never be part of a team with such an embarrassing name."
"What XiaoYue said." Yu Nianzhen agreed.
"What about the Heavenly Fire group?" Yang Xu suggested and Yu Nianzhen sneered.
"What do you mean? Do you dare to disdain your master?"
"Master, you are the only one with a fire origin." Jiang Yue quickly interjected.
He didn’t want Yang Xu and Yu Nianzhen to begin arguing because it would never end.
When he heard that, Yang Xu snorted and didn’t give up.
"I am the only one with a fire origin but everyone has a fire. My wife has one and Jiang Yue also has one."
"What about me, Brother Yu, and Brother Li?"
"If you squint, lightning is yang and is also a fire. Nianzhen has soul fire and Li Futian has Hongzhu."
"How can there be such reason?" Xuan Ke muttered and looked at Jiang Yue helplessly.
"It’s too forced." Jiang Yue directly refused and turned to his Taoist companion.
"Azhen, what do you think?"
"Overlords." Yu Nianzhen suggested.
"Overlords..., it’s a good name. Let’s go with that." Jiang Yue immediately decided.
"As I expected of my disciple." Yang Xu said proudly and the others couldn’t help but look at him.
’Is he serious?’ Xuan Ke wondered.
’What about the fight that I just diffused? Forget it.’ Jiang Yue thought and smiled.
"I will register the team first."
While Jiang Yue was registering the team, the others went to the task board.
"It’s only been two days but there are so many tasks." Xuan Ke observed and frowned.
The task board was divided into three sections-priority tasks, difficult tasks, and special tasks.
Priority tasks were urgent and most had an attached time limit.
These tasks included rescue tasks, healing tasks, and reinforcement tasks amongst others.
On the other hand, difficult tasks weren’t particularly urgent but their risk factor was high. Most of these tasks were to assassinate or injure certain disciples of the Death Flower Ascension Front.
Finally, special tasks ranged from refining pills and weapons to gathering formation about one thing or the other.
"Killing Zhang Ling is under difficult tasks." Yang Xu said.
"It is under difficult tasks but it also has a priority stamp." Yu Nianzhen said as he continued to study the task poster.
"Her nickname is ’little ancestor’." Xuan Ke read.
From the information, Zhang Li’s soul power was already or close to the nascent soul realm.
Because nascent soul realm cultivators were usually called ancestors, Zhang Li was called ’little ancestor’ because her combat power was in the nascent soul realm although her cultivation was in the core formation realm.
"She is also proficient in illusion techniques. It is said that her charm technique is extremely difficult to see through."
"No matter how good she is, she is worse than XiaoYue."
"Is this the time?" Xuan Ke asked and rolled his eyes in exasperation.
"What do you know." Yu Nianzhen grumbled.
"I don’t want to know."
"Hmmm."
At this time, Jiang Yue came to find them.
"Did you register?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"Team Overlord is now online." Jiang Yue said and smiled.
"Online?" Xuan Ke asked in confusion.
"Don’t worry about that." Jiang Yue hastily evaded and continued before Xuan Ke asked again.
"I also registered the task we want to take. The only remaining thing is to recruit temporary teammates to finish the task."
"Let’s go out." Yu Nianzhen said and they left the task hall.
Outside, thousands of cultivators were hanging about.
"Our Overlords team has taken the task to kill Zhang Ling. Who wants to join?" Xuan Ke shouted.
"Zhang Ling? Isn’t that the soul cultivator?" Someone asked.
"It’s her." Another answered.
"My previous team was besieged by her. I..." The speaker shuddered and looked a little.
"What happened?"
"Don’t ask me. I don’t want to talk about it."
With that, the person walked away hurriedly, as if he was trying to outpace a disturbing memory.
"I don’t dare to confront a soul cultivator. I won’t take this task."
"I also won’t."
"I have learned a soul-shielding technique. I am willing to join." Someone finally came forward.
After that, Jiang Yue and the rest continued to recruit.
However, it was more difficult than they expected and they only recruited sixty cultivators in the first hour.
"At this pace, it will take more than half a day to recruit five hundred cultivators." Xuan Ke said and frowned.
"Soul injuries are too hard to heal. It makes sense that people don’t want to take the risk." Yang Xu said and sighed.
"Should we try to recruit cultivators who can make long-distance attacks? Archers and such." Yu Nianzhen suggested and the others brightened.
"Why didn’t I think of it?" Jiang Yue said and looked at his husband with worship in his eyes.
"What’s so brilliant about the suggestion? We just temporarily forgot to think about it." Yang Xu said and sneered.
’Here we go again.’ Jiang Yue thought and almost rolled his eyes.
However, Yang Xu was an elder and Jiang Yue didn’t really do it.
"If we get a few brilliant archers, killing Zhang Ling will be a lot easier."
"If the fellow Daoists don’t mind, we have an archer in our team. How about cooperating to kill Zhang Ling?" A voice spoke and everyone turned.
"Fellow Daoist Lin." Jiang Yue called with a strange in his eyes.
After he came out of seclusion, Yu Nianzhen told him everything that happened.
He knew Lin Huang lost the duel but he didn’t know if she had really changed her ways.
"My team has ninety-three cultivators. Are the fellow Daoists willing to cooperate?"
"We are willing." Jiang Yue immediately answered.
Since she hadn’t called him or Yu Nianzhen, ’husband’, Jiang Yue figured she had accepted reality.
In that case, there was no reason to reject her offer to cooperate.
"Even with your ninety-three, we need three hundred more." Jiang Yue reminded.
"Let’s send everyone to recruit their acquaintances." Lin Huang suggested and Jiang Yue nodded.
He was about to say something when he saw someone and his eyes widened in surprise.
