Chapter 314: Conflicts and Cooperations
Originally, Bei Chengling wanted to add more formations to supplement the current defence.
However, after discovering that the enemy had a formation master, he immediately changed his mind.
’I can only use a different method.’ He thought and removed a wooden box from his storage ring.
He opened the box and revealed a set of bamboo slips.
"Young master, are you going to use the bamboo slips?" A subordinate asked.
His tone was subdued and he looked at Bei Chengling in concern.
"The other side has a formation master. It’s only a matter of time before the protective formation is broken." Bei Chengling answered.
In the Cangxing world, there were two types of formation methods.
The first method relied on materials to arrange and manipulate formations.
When these kinds of formations were damaged, they could only be repaired by replacing the formation materials.
However, the second method was more intricate and suitable for volatile situations.
This method required the use of materials and formation slips.
Each formation slip was specially refined using bamboo, jade, or other special materials.
When a formation was arranged using this method, the materials were used as formation anchors while formation slips were used to manipulate formation nodes.
In this way, the formation nodes could be moved around, making it difficult for formation masters to break the formation.
However, this second method wasn’t without risk.
Although formations arranged using the second method were more powerful, the formation master would be injured whenever a formation node was broken.
It was because of this reason that formation masters rarely used the second method to arrange formations.
"I will open the five elements formation when they break the protective formation." Bei Chengling instructed and the subordinate nodded before speaking.
"I will prepare some soul replenishing pills and soul nourishing water for the young master."
"Good."
When the subordinate left, Bei Chengling closed his eyes and began to adjust his state.
He didn’t know how long it would take the enemy to break the protective formation and he wanted to be ready when the time came.
This wait lasted nine days.
On the evening of the ninth day, the enemy group dispersed and stood at different places around the protective formation.
"Fellow Taoist Bei, I will give you one last chance. If you hand over the queen of flowers, I will ally with you to defeat the Death Flower Ascension Front." Lin Guo said.
However, Bei Chengling didn’t take her words seriously and sneered in disgust.
"Fellow Taoist Lin doesn’t need to say more. It’s already too late to talk about it." Bei Chengling said and opened his eyes.
In his heart, he was a little relieved.
He initially thought that Lin Guo would break the protective formation in less than a week.
However, she didn’t do it until the ninth day.
Unless she was deliberately delaying her progress, Bei Chengling was now confident to derail the enemy for at least three months.
If Meng Zihua could break through in that time, there would be no need to fight the enemy so passively.
"Bei Chengling, you are not my match. I will let the rest of you go if you hand over Meng Zihua." Shen Ru came forward to reason.
Unfortunately, none of the members of the BlueStar Treasure Pavillion ate this set.
Most of them were orphans raised by the BlueStar Treasure Pavillion.
From a young age, they were taught to dedicate their lives to the Pavillion and they were willing to die to protect Meng Zihua.
"Young Miss Shen, none of us is willing to betray the BlueStar Treasures Pavillion and our Cangxing world. Your persuasion is meaningless." One of the subordinates said.
"I have given you a chance but you refused to accept my kindness. You won’t regret it until you hit the south wall but it will already be too late by then."
"Miss Shen is talking as if she has already won. It’s too early to be happy."
Shen Ru glared at Bei Chengling but she didn’t continue to be entangled.
She originally gave them a chance because she didn’t want to exhaust herself before she fought Meng Zihua.
However, she was not afraid that she couldn’t deal with the members of the BlueStar Treasures Pavillion.
She just didn’t want Lin Guo to take advantage of the situation to reap the fisherman’s profit.
With a sigh, she turned to Lin Guo, "Is Taoist Lin ready?"
"I can break the formation at any time."
"Good." Shen Ru said and looked at her people.
Several nodded to show they were ready and Shen Ru turned back to Lin Guo.
"Taoist Lin can go ahead."
"Okay."
A moment later, Lin Guo gave a signal and several people attacked the formation.
This attack lasted for half an hour before the formation finally broke.
However, another formation appeared as soon as the other broke.
"I will play with you as long as you want." Bei Chengling said and a mocking smile curled his lips.
.....
In the Snow Valley, two people sat across each other.
One person was Zhu Bing and the other was Bing Mei.
Soon after the secret realm opened, the groups from the Ice Palace sect and the Great Zhu empire went to the Snow Valley.
At first, the groups did not meet and each went their way to search for opportunities.
However, this peace couldn’t last forever since the opportunities in the core of the Snow Valley were limited.
As soon as the groups encountered each other in the core region, conflicts arose. Neither group was willing to back down and they didn’t show mercy when they fought over the core treasures.
This situation continued for a while and both groups had their wins and losses.
However, things changed when they found the ninth treasure of the snow valley.
"That piece of snow crystal is enough for three cultivators." Bing Mei said and looked at Zhu Bing.
At first, both groups wanted the snow crystal for themselves.
Unfortunately, the crystal was surrounded by a blizzard wall and neither group could break it.
After thinking about it, they decided to cooperate which led to the current meeting of the two leaders.
"The crystal has grown so big because no one has been able to break the blizzard wall over the last few openings of the secret realm. There are many storage rings within the blizzard wall." Zhu Bing added.
"How do you want to divide the spoils?"
"One group should get two portions of snow crystal and the other will get one portion and the storage rings."
When Bing Mei heard that, her eyes narrowed and her heart was conflicted.
On one hand, she agreed to the division.
However, she couldn’t decide which side she preferred.
If she was the side with two portions of snow crystal, two cultivators in her group could break through to a higher realm.
This would increase her group’s fighting power which would enhance their survivability in the secret realm.
However, she was also greedy for the storage rings.
The Snow Valley was relatively close to the entrance of the Nine Treasures secret realm.
This meant that most cultivators came to the Snow Valley soon after entering the secret realm.
At that time, most still had the resources prepared to survive for one hundred years.
When she recalled the number of storage rings in the blizzard wall and imagined the resources she could get, Bing Mei was quite moved.
’I can share the resources in the storage ring but I can’t share the snow crystal. Why should I work for others and get nothing in the end?’ She thought and her heart was very unwilling.
No matter what, she wanted to earn something after working so hard.
Fortunately, Zhu Bing also thought the same.
Although he suggested the division method, it was only a test for Bing Mei.
In the end, he was also unwilling to work for nothing so he put forward another suggestion.
"If the young palace master is not satisfied with the division, how about we use contribution to determine ownership?"
"This is the fairest way." Bing Mei immediately agreed.
If her contribution was high enough, she could divide more storage rings which would be worth her effort.
After deciding on the division method, the two discussed how to value contribution.
This discussion lasted for one night and when morning came, they each gathered their people.
From their previous discussion, each group was responsible for one-half of the blizzard wall.
When the time came, they would simultaneously attack the wall to nullify its lethality.
After that, the leaders would take charge of the resources and discharge them according to the method they agreed upon.
Since everyone wanted a larger share of the resources, no one slacked when the time came.
They used all their strength to attack the blizzard wall and after three days, they finally succeeded.
However, they didn’t have a chance to be happy before the surrounding temperature suddenly plunged.
