Chapter 300: Lost
Unfortunately, while he threw the formation disks, Jiang Yue failed to notice an attack from the side.
When he noticed, it was already too late and he braced for impact.
However, the pain he expected did not come.
Instead, he heard a muffled groan and opened his eyes to see Yu Nianzhen in front of him.
"Damned it." He cursed and his eyes turned red.
He reached out for his husband but his hands were shaking so badly he could barely catch him.
"Don’t worry, I am fine." Yu Nianzhen said.
However, his face was paler than before and his movements were sluggish.
"Brother Yu, how are you?" Xuan Ke called urgently.
His staff was already in hand and he blocked an attack that was hurtling toward the three.
"Let’s leave this place." Yu Nianzhen said and urged the other two to move along.
"It won’t be too late to avenge ourselves later." He continued.
With a sigh, Jiang Yue listened to his husband and didn’t dwell on the attackers.
Fortunately, Yang Xu and Bing Lan were only a few metres away and were already prepared to escape.
"How can I have such a troublesome disciple." Yang Xu complained when the three reached him.
He sneered at Yu Nianzhen but his eyes were filled with concern.
"Let’s talk about it when we escape." Bing Lan stepped in but her lips were twitching in amusement.
"Mistress, we will have to trouble you to activate the teleportation formation disk." Jiang Yue said urgently.
"Okay." Bing Lan answered and didn’t hesitate.
She removed a formation disk from her storage ring and used half her qi to activate it.
A moment later, the group of five disappeared and angry howls resounded in the thunder pool.
"Trace the residual qi." Someone shouted and several people rushed to where the five disappeared.
Unfortunately, the five were already one thousand kilometres away which was beyond the range of ordinary teleportation talismans.
"Let’s teleport a few more times just to make sure." Yang Xu instructed and Bing Lan used the rest of her qi to activate the teleportation disk.
In the next round, Xuan Ke activated the teleportation disk and the five arrived in a cave.
The cave was dark and a peculiar smell permeated the space.
"This should be the lair of a demonic beast." Jiang Yue commented and the others agreed.
Unfortunately, they could no longer use the teleportation disk.
Among the five, only Yang Xu had enough qi to activate a teleportation formation disk.
However, activating it would consume half his qi and there was no guarantee that their destination would be safer than their current situation.
In that case, it was better to ascertain the situation before arbitrarily activating the teleportation formation disk.
If they could, it was better to kill the owner of the lair and occupy the cave until they recovered their strength.
"The beast doesn’t seem to be here." Xuan Ke said after looking around.
"It’s night. The demonic beast is probably hunting." Yang Xu said and then continued.
"You all should take some time to recover and I will protect the law."
"Good." The others said and didn’t mean to resist.
They were all in a terrible state and couldn’t withstand an enemy attack.
For the time being, it was more urgent to replenish their qi and recover before doing anything else.
Fortunately, luck was on their side.
Although Yang Xu was alert all night, the owner of the lair did not return to the cave.
This meant that the owner was dead or had moved to another place.
However, the vacancy time was short.
The rationale for this observation was because the scent of the demonic beast hadn’t dissipated. This kept other demonic beasts from approaching the cave which was an additional layer of protection for the five.
"Azhen, how is your injury?" Jiang Yue asked as soon as Yu Nianzhen opened his eyes.
"It has already recovered." Yu Nianzhen assured and Jiang Yue heaved a sigh of relief.
However, after the worry left his body, other emotions took its place.
There was anger, guilt, sadness, and a whole myriad of emotions he couldn’t name.
In the end, he viciously pinched his husband’s waist and Yu Nianzhen almost scream in pain.
’Is his pinching technique getting better?’ He wondered.
However, he didn’t dare to question his husband.
’Who made his husband? I can only accept it.’ He thought but his heart was warm.
He knew Jiang Yue was worried about him and he rubbed the other’s hair indulgently.
"Where are we?" He asked and Jiang Yue sighed.
"We have deviated from our original course." Jiang Yue answered.
This time, they used the teleportation disk formation instead of the teleportation talisman.
However, the formation disk was also undirectional and they couldn’t control where they went.
Fortunately, they weren’t transported to a dangerous place. Otherwise, they would have jumped from the pot and into the fire.
"Can’t you tell our location using the map?"
"We seem to be at the edge of an unexplored area." Jiang Yue said and laid down a map.
"We are here." He said and pointed at a place.
From the map, they were at the edge of a fog-filled area.
If they went forward, they would enter the fog. However, going back was not an option.
This was because the area behind them was filled with demonic qi.
Since they were not members of the demonic clan, they would be severely affected if they dared to go back.
"Our only choice is to go forward." Yu Nianzhen said and Jiang Yue nodded.
"Master tried to investigate but nothing can be found. We can’t penetrate the area using divine sense."
When he heard that, Yu Nianzhen frowned.
Although their divine sense was limited in the thunder forest, it could still be used.
However, the fog filled was completely impenetrable.
"We should be more careful when we enter that area." Yu Nianzhen said and a mocking snort was heard from a few metres away.
"Now you know how to be careful?" Yang Xu said and glared at the two.
He always felt that the two would get into inexplicable trouble if he didn’t keep his eyes on them.
"Master, we are actually quite good. We don’t provoke trouble." Jiang Yue said but Yang Xu sneered.
However, he didn’t actually blame them.
After knowing them for many years, Yang Xu was convinced that Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen were sons of heaven.
The heavens favoured them which explained their extraordinary luck.
However, everything existed in pairs and luck was always accompanied by misfortune.
Their luck attracted envy and greed.
If the two were not careful, they would surely perish before reaching the end of the martial road.
As their parent, Yang Xu did not want to see this happen.
He wanted to see them soar into the heavens and become existences that were bigger than the legends.
’Their destiny is to cross a sea of fire and a mountain of swords.’ He thought and sighed.
However, Yang Xu believed in them.
He believed they would overcome all obstacles and not fall like so many geniuses before them
"Master, does the demonic clan still exist in the Cangxing world?" Yu Nianzhen suddenly asked.
When he heard about the area behind them, he wondered about the demonic clan.
"It’s hard to say." Yang Xu said and frowned.
The demonic clan had not appeared in the Cangxing world for many thousand years.
However, the Nine Treasures secret realm never produced unnecessary treasures.
Since an area with demonic qi had appeared, it meant the demonic clan was still in the Cangxing world.
"From the records I have read, the relationship between human cultivators and demonic cultivators is not good." Xuan Ke said.
There were many such records in the Thunder God Temple and Xuan Ke had read a few.
At the time, he read the ancient wars for entertainment and didn’t take the demonic clan too seriously.
After all, they had been eradicated by the human race and hadn’t appeared for many years.
"As a matter of fact, demonic cultivators and human cultivators weren’t at odds at the beginning. However, something happened and the relationship became antagonistic." Bing Lan added.
"What happened?" Jiang Yue asked.
"I don’t know about this." She said and shrugged.
"Most of the ancient records were somehow lost. It’s difficult to know what happened." Yang Xu said.
"We don’t need to force it. If we have the fate, we will eventually discover the truth." Yu Nianzhen said and the others agreed.
"Let’s talk about the fog area."
"Does master have an idea?"
"I couldn’t investigate using my divine sense. However, the treasures within should be related to the soul."
"Soul treasures?" Jiang Yue asked excitedly.
Amongst everyone, he needed the most soul-related treasures.
This was because soul strength was directly related to illusion power.
