Chapter 238: Unexplainable Premonition

Jiang Yue sighed and the three walked away from the crowd.

In the next while, he explained everything they learned from Hongzhu and Xuan Ke couldn’t help but frown.

"What a mess." He said after listening to everything.

"Mmmh." Yu Nianzhen agreed.

They knew nothing about the nine-turn rebirth pill and didn’t even know if the spirit herbs needed to refine it could be found.

"Fortunately, Hongzhu is an alchemist." Jiang Yue chose to find a silver lining.

"She is only a level three alchemist. I doubt the nine-turn rebirth pill can be refined by a level three alchemist." Xuan Ke retorted.

"You are right."

Yu Nianzhen couldn’t see Jiang Yue deflated so he pulled him over and rubbed his hair.

"Let’s take things one step at a time. The first thing we need to do is find a pill recipe and collect spirit herbs. At the same time, we will find a way for Hongzhu to improve her alchemy."

"Brother Yu is right. We can only do what we can." Xuan Ke said and sighed.

After saying that, he looked at the two and a smile curled his lips.

"Has something changed between the two of you?" He asked.

"We have become Taoist companions." Jiang Yue answered right away.

He was most proud of being Yu Nianzhen’s Taoist companion.

If he had a choice, he would announce it to the world and talk about it at every chance.

"I can’t say I didn’t see this coming." Xuan Ke said and chuckled.

"Later, I will prepare a wedding gift and we will drink wine to celebrate."

"Okay." Jiang Yue answered and smiled.

"I heard that the Thunder God Temple arrived two months ago." Yu Nianzhen suddenly stated.

Xuan Ke looked at the swordsman and sighed.

He understood the question his sworn brother was asking but he didn’t know how to answer.

After waking from his long sleep, Xuan Ke retreated to practice his martial arts.

He perfected the eighteen forms staff art he practised before entering the Thousand Herbs Garden and learned a new martial art.

This retreat lasted for almost one year.

When he left seclusion, it was about time to leave for the Ice Palace region.

In the end, Xuan Ke didn’t know why their Thunder God Temple travelled so early.

All he knew was that the leading monk often met the palace master of the Ice Palace sect.

"I don’t know why." Xuan Ke said and shrugged.

Yu Nianzhen looked at the person and saw he wasn’t lying.

Since he couldn’t get anything from his sworn brother, he immediately shifted gears and changed the topic.

"Have there been any duels since the Cangxing list came out?" He asked.

Xuan Ke shook his head and his mood became a little excited.

"Some people have tried to initiate duels through the Cangxing list but it doesn’t work." He said and Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but frown.

For some reason, Xuan Ke’s words gave him a sense of premonition.

He felt like something terrible was happening but he couldn’t tell what.

Ignoring the trepidation in his heart, Yu Nianzhen turned to Jiang Yue.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Yue looked a little pale and his eyes were unfocused.

"What’s wrong?" Yu Nianzhen asked urgently.

"I don’t know." Jiang Yue said and clutched his chest.

His heart was filled with an unexplainable urgency and he suddenly wanted to do something.

However, he didn’t know what to do to fulfil the urgency in his heart.

Yu Nianzhen looked at his husband and guessed that Jiang Yue also felt the trepidation.

[XiaoYue, do you feel like something terrible is about to happen?]

[You too?]

[Mmmmh.]

[It’s different from the feeling I had before my thunder calamity.]

[It’s also different for me.]

[What in the world is going on?]

Jiang Yue couldn’t help but frown and look at Yu Nianzhen.

Since they arrived in the Cangxing world, they experienced a lot of strange things.

However, this was the first time they felt this kind of unexplainable trepidation.

"What’s wrong with the two of you?" Xuan Ke suddenly spoke, interrupting their soul communication.

[Let’s talk about it later.] Yu Nianzhen said and both turned to Xuan Ke.

"There is nothing wrong." Jiang Yue said and Xuan Ke rolled his eyes.

He knew something was up but his two brothers were Taoist companions.

They had their own secrets and he couldn’t intrude into their space.

"Have you heard about the betting pool?" He suddenly changed the subject.

"We heard it on the flying boat." Jiang Yue said.

He was interested in this topic and wanted to know more details before he placed a wager.

"We heard that the pot already has more than two billion spirit stones."

"Your news is old. It has already reached fifty billion spirit stones."

"Is that so?" Jiang Yue said and chuckled.

His dream of getting rich was becoming more colourful.

He could already see the days of sleeping on spirit stones and the lingering gloom in his heart was completely dissipated.

"Has brother Xuan placed a bet? Who did you bet on?"

At the question, Xuan Ke felt a cold chill at the back of his neck.

He cautiously looked at Yu Nianzhen and saw a dangerous glint in the swordsman’s eyes.

Xuan Ke swallowed and forced a smile to his lips.

"I haven’t bet yet. I plan to bet on ancestor Yang."

Yu Nianzhen nodded in approval and Jiang Yue couldn’t help but laugh.

He knew Yu Nianzhen intimidated Xuan Ke but this was good.

Jiang Yue believed Yu Nianzhen wouldn’t lose and Xuan Ke would not regret following them.

"It’s good that you know what’s what." Jiang Yue said.

"How can I not know?" Xuan Ke said and sighed.

"Do you know when the betting will close?"

"When the banquet ends, the betting will also stop."

"Makes sense." Jiang Yue said and nodded.

After that, the three talked and enjoyed the banquet together.

They talked, ate, drank, and occasionally interacted with other cultivators from their generation.

When the time came, they snuck out of the banquet hall and went to place their bets.

As planned, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen staked their net worth while Xuan Ke staked ten million spirit stones.

At the close of the betting window, Yang Xu’s odds had dropped from two hundred to one to three hundred to one.

The reason for this was that the list of participants was finally released.

Most challengers had tens of origin tempering ream cultivators to fight for them.

However, Yang Xu only had five and one was only at the first level of the origin tempering realm.

"It’s too bad elder Chen won’t let me take part." Jiang Yue said and frowned.

When he saw his master and declared his intention to participate, elder Chen flatly refused.

Since the woman was in charge of registering participants for the Sea Cloud sect, Jiang Yue could only regret it without recourse.

"Don’t worry about it. I won’t give anyone a chance." Yu Nianzhen said and his eyes narrowed.

"I know."

"XiaoYue, are you planning to end the master-disciple relationship with elder Chen?"

"Did you notice that?"

"You called her ’elder Chen’."

"I have long realised that she and I are not suitable. It’s best to dissolve the relationship as soon as possible."

"Breaking the relationship is not easy."

"Fortunately, she never taught me any of her techniques. If she had, she could force me to abolish my cultivation."

"Mmmmh."

"Don’t worry too much. I have thought about it and she may agree to end the relationship if I prepare a good parting gift."

"We will figure it out after the martial contest." Yu Nianzhen said.

In fact, he was happy that Jiang Yue wanted to end the master-disciple relationship.

After what he learned from his master, it was best to distance themselves from the Sea Cloud sect.

Fortunately, the Nine Treasures secret realm was about to open and they didn’t need to return to the sect for the time being.

"Okay." Jiang Yue said.

While they were talking, a bell resounded in the Ice Palace sect.

This was the bell to signal that the event had shifted from the banquet hall to the martial arena.

"Let’s go." Jiang Yue said and the two walked toward the cultivators from the Sea Cloud sect.

They stood next to Yang Xu and the man turned to look at his disciple.

[Are you nervous?] He sent a voice transmission.

However, he chuckled without waiting for an answer.

He had known his disciple for more than ten years and rarely had he seen him nervous.

When he looked at the person now, he saw Yu Nianzhen was not nervous.

His eyes were firm and his demeanour exuded confidence.

’As expected of my disciple.’ He thought and smiled happily.

Yu Nianzhen’s confidence made him feel at ease and he was unexpectedly looking forward to the contest.

He wanted to see how far his disciple had come after training for seven years in the Black Wind Abyss.
