Chapter 230: Demonic Plant
Although injured, a damaged soul was intact.
However, a torn soul wasn’t. It meant that pieces of Li Futian’s soul were not in his body and could be floating around anywhere.
Without extraordinary means, there was no way to collect the souls, piece them together, and return them to the body.
"What level of alchemist can make the nine-turn rebirth pill?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"I don’t know."
"What do you mean?" Jiang Yue asked with a frown on his face.
"Before my master became like this, he said the nine-turn rebirth pill could heal him."
"He didn’t say anything else?"
The girl shook her head and Jiang Yue had a headache.
At that moment, he resented Li Futian very much.
If he was going to cause them so much trouble, the least he could do was leave behind specific instructions.
"What about his body? How is it surviving?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"The coffin looks wooden from the outside but it’s actually an ice coffin. It has many mysterious formations and talismans. My master’s body can be preserved for a while."
"How long is awhile?"
Hongzhu shook her head again and the two young men were in despair.
When they came to the Ice Palace region, they expected to take part in the conference and then wait for the Nine Treasures secret realm to open.
Unfortunately, their plans couldn’t keep up with the changes.
However, Li Futian’s situation seemed more than they could handle at their current level.
After thinking about it, Yu Nianzhen wanted to talk with Jiang Yue before choosing a course of action.
"Choose a room and rest first. We will figure things out later." He said.
"Thank you, brother Ye."
"I will see the two brothers later."
After saying that, Hongzhu picked up the coffin and entered one of the training rooms.
"What do you think?" Jiang Yue asked when they were left alone.
"Let’s go to the room first."
"Good."
The two held hands and entered one of the rooms.
Jiang Yue carefully inspected the room and when he was sure there was nothing wrong, he set up a restriction.
"The situation with the Celestial Sky sect is a little dodgy." He said and sat on the stone bed.
"I also think so."
However, he couldn’t detect any lies from the girl.
After observing her while she explained, he was inclined to think that everything she said was what she believed.
"Although the Celestial Sky sect does not have as many disciples as the Sea Cloud sect, it should have tens of thousands of disciples. How is it possible to imprison half of them?"
"I also think there is a problem with this aspect." Yu Nianzhen said and frowned.
He could feel an idea at the back of his mind but the thought was vague and fleeting.
After trying to catch and failing to do so, he sighed and looked at Jiang Yue.
"Let’s leave the matter of the Celestial Sky sect for the time being. The main problem is Li Futian."
"We don’t have to worry that the missing souls will enter the reincarnation cycle. However, we have to worry that the souls may dissipate before we get the pill." Jiang Yue said.
"Not only that. If the souls are caught and refined by ghost cultivators, Li Futian will never have a complete soul even if he wakes up."
The two were depressed when they thought about that.
Having an incomplete soul meant that Li Futian would never achieve the highest peak.
"Since we have recognised him as a brother, we have to do our best for him." Yu Nianzhen said.
"I know."
"Let’s wait to meet up with Xuan Ke before we make any decisions."
"I agree. The Thunder God Temple has many soul techniques. Maybe brother Ke will know something."
"Mmmh." Yu Nianzhen rubbed Jiang Yue’s hair and seemed a little distracted.
"What’s the matter?"
"I am not sure..." Yu Nianzhen said and suddenly removed his jade box.
He injected his divine sense into the box and examined every inch of the spirit land.
"Is something wrong with the jade box?" Jiang Yue asked and frowned.
The jade box held the tree of life which was their greatest asset.
If something happened to the tree, they would suffer terribly when breaking through.
When he thought about surviving the thunder catastrophe without the tree of life, Jiang Yue couldn’t help but worry.
"There isn’t anything wrong. However..."
"However?" Jiang Yue urged.
He was a little annoyed with Yu Nianzhen’s unusual hesitation.
"The jade box has been reacting to Hongzhu since we met her."
Jiang Yue frowned when he heard that.
"Reacting how? Does it want to switch masters?"
"Nothing like that." Yu Nianzhen went silent and thought of how to phrase it.
After a few breaths of silence, he figured it out and looked at his husband.
"It’s reacting the way it does when it encounters a precious herb."
"What?" Jiang Yue was fabberegasted.
He looked at Yu Nianzhen and saw he wasn’t joking.
However, what the swordsman said didn’t make sense.
’Did the jade box also have the function of nurturing little girls?’ He thought and quickly shook his head to shake out the messy thoughts.
"We have tried to enter the box many times but we failed. I thought humans couldn’t enter." Jiang Yue said and was a little confused.
A moment later, his eyes flew wide open and he looked at Yu Nianzhen in confusion.
"Could it be...., is Hongzhu human?" He asked.
Unfortunately, the person he asked was also at a loss.
"Her name..., doesn’t it mean ’red bamboo’?"
Yu Nianzhen sighed.
If the jade box didn’t react, he would think Jiang Yue was being ridiculous.
However, the jade box did react and it had never reacted to human beings before.
"What is this mess?" Jiang Yue lamented and held his head in his hands.
Like demonic beasts, demonic plants could take human form.
However, demonic plants were extremely rare and their cultivation was more difficult.
If demonic beasts required more than ten thousand years of cultivation before they took human form, demonic plants required more than one hundred thousand years.
"She looks like a little girl." Jiang Yue muttered in his shock.
When he heard that, Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but laugh.
The solemn atmosphere became a little more relaxed and both could think more clearly.
"She calls Li Futian ’master’."
"She should be his contracted demonic plant." Yu Nianzhen observed.
After looking at it this way, a lot of things made sense in his mind.
"It explains why we easily believed her." Jiang Yue said.
"I was just thinking that."
Generally, Yu Nianzhen and Jiang Yue did not easily trust others.
However, they easily believed Hongzhu. This was a little confusing and both felt a little off about the matter.
Now that they suspected that Hongzhu was contracted to Li Futian, it all made sense.
Since Li Futian was their sworn brother, they were inherently inclined to trust in him.
As their brother’s contract companion, Hongzhu was naturally drawn into the trust circle.
When they thought about it, Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen didn’t know if this was a good thing.
"We don’t have to solve everything at this very moment. Let’s figure it out as we go on." Jiang Yue rubbed Yu Nianzhen’s hair.
He knew his husband didn’t like too much uncertainty.
However, they had already boarded the train and there was no way to get off.
Since Li Futian trusted Hongzhu with his life, the least they could do was give her a chance.
They were willing to trust Li Futian’s vision but they wouldn’t spare Hongzhu if she did something untrustworthy.
"I know." Yu Nianzhen said and forced himself to relax.
"We will figure things out after the conference." He continued.
"Do you want to contact master Yang right now?" Jiang Yue asked.
It had been so long and he also wanted to see Yang Xu.
"Mmmm." Yu Nianzhen nodded and removed his communication token.
"There are messages..."
Without delay, he activated the communication token and found seven messages.
Three messages were from his master and the remaining four were from Xuan Ke.
"Looks like brother Ke didn’t forget us." Jiang Yue said and grabbed the token.
He ignored Xuan Ke’s message and first checked the messages from master Yang.
"He arrived well and is in the Ice Palace sect." Jiang Yue said and both felt relieved.
Although Hongzhu had told them that the master had arrived, it was always better to hear from the person himself.
"He wants us to go to the sect on the day of the meeting." Jiang Yue continued and both frowned.
"Is it okay to do it this way?" He asked.
Yu Nianzhen was also unsure.
He thought he would have time to talk to his master before the conference.
However, his master didn’t seem to think so.
"He should have his reasons. Let’s follow master’s decision." He sighed and said.
