Chapter 227: Touching Porcelain?

"You miss, do you know us?" Jiang Yue asked.

He looked at the girl and was sure he had never met her before. Even if he had, and somehow forgot her face, it was impossible to forget the big coffin on her back.

"Brothers, my name is Hongzhu. I..." She started but stopped before she could finish.

Her face paled and her body shook a little.

"Young miss, are you okay?" Jiang Yue asked and jumped off the bullock.

Yu Nianzhen also got down and stood beside his husband.

"Brothers..., Tian’er..." Before she could finish, she collapsed forward.

Yu Nianzhen and Jiang Yue didn’t know her so they dodged and her front hit the ground.

"That coffin looks heavy." Jiang Yue observed and cringed.

"Two young men, how can you watch the little girl fall?" A voice reprimanded.

The voice belonged to an old lady.

Her back was stopped, and her face was full of wrinkles but her aura was full of vitality.

’Are they touching porcelain?’ Jiang Yue wondered.

However, neither he nor Yu Nianzhen touched or come close to the little girl.

It would be too contrived to blame them for the strange incident.

[Azhen, what should we do?] Jiang Yue transmitted.

Yu Nianzhen frowned and looked at the girl.

"What are you doing? Quickly help her up." The old woman commanded.

As if hit by lightning, the gathered crowd suddenly recovered.

Several people rushed to lift the coffin so that the girl wouldn’t be crushed under its weight.

However, when their hands were thirty centimetres away, a barrier materialised around the coffin.

The barrier was transparent and occasionally sparked with a line of lightning.

"What is this?" One of the good asked.

While doing so, he carelessly touched the barrier.

A moment later, a thin bolt of lightning emerged from the barrier and rushed into the man’s body.

He hadn’t expected the sudden attack and he screamed in pain as the lightning rampaged within his body.

When his pain-filled screams finally dissipated, the man was severely burned and he was already unconscious.

"What kind of evil is that coffin?" Someone asked and subconsciously took a step back.

Those around him also did the same and an impromptu circle formed around the girl and coffin.

After seeing the horrific attack, even the old lady didn’t dare to approach.

Like the rest, she watched from a distance and no longer thought about getting involved.

"I heard her call those two ’ brothers’." One of the crowd said and pointed to Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen.

"How are you going to compensate us? My junior brother was only going to help, how could you make him like this?" A young man shouted angrily.

He was standing beside the injured person and both wore the same kinds of robes.

"This fellow Daoist is right. We were all trying to help and could have been seriously injured."

Yu Nianzhen looked at the speaker and sneered.

With his dynamic vision, it was impossible to miss those who had been trying to help.

However, the person who just spoke wasn’t one of them. In fact, he had only just arrived at the scene and was taking advantage to get some benefits.

[XiaoYue, this matter is not simple.] Yu Nianzhen transmitted.

Jiang Yue wanted to roll his eyes; he could also tell the matter was not simple.

However, he knew Yu Nianzhen wouldn’t mention it without a compelling reason.

[What do you mean?] He asked.

[We are both wearing masks and the disguise pills we took are still in effect...] He started but didn’t finish

Fortunately, Jiang Yue was smart and didn’t his husband spell things out for him.

[You are right. With the disguise pill and masks, how could she figure out our ability?] Jiang Yue frowned and looked at the collapsed girl.

[Those are not the only problems. She called us ’brother’. It sounded like she knows us very well.]

[She was also called ’Tian’er’. Do we know someone called that?]

[I don’t think so.] Yu Nianzhen said and also looked at the girl.

[What should we do?] Jiang Yue asked again.

He saw several guards walking toward them and knew they had to make a decision quickly.

[Let’s take her back. We can talk to her when she wakes up.]

[Good.]

[XiaoYue, give that injured person a bottle of rejuvenation pills. I will try to move the girl to the back of the bullock.]

[Azhen...]

[Don’t worry, I will be careful.]

Jiang Yue looked at his husband and then went to give the injured man a bottle of healing pills.

While he was doing that, Yu Nianzhen approached the prone girl.

He looked at her and took a deep breath before extending his hand toward her.

"Young man, do you think your life is too long?" Someone shouted.

He still had lingering fears about what happened and couldn’t fathom where someone else would jump into danger.

"What are you worried about? He knows the girl and won’t be attacked."

"Is that how it is?"

"Isn’t he too evil? If he knew the coffin was dangerous, why did he let others approach it?"

"Ice Palace city is now full of crouching tigers and hidden dragons. Who can tell what kind of cultivators they will meet on the streets."

"Your words are right. Just yesterday..."

Yu Nianzhen ignored the gossip and slowly extended his hand toward the girl.

After the previous attack, the barrier did not dissipate and continued to wrap around the coffin.

However, when his hand got closer, the barrier began to flicker.

When they saw this, several people screamed and others closed their eyes.

The barrier had flickered like this before the previous attack and they expected Yu Nianzhen to face the same fate.

"What did I say..., that coffin is too evil." Someone shouted but still watched in excitement.

Unfortunately, the melon eaters were destined to be disappointed.

When Yu Nianzhen’s hand touched the barrier, it flickered and disappeared.

Subconsciously, he exhaled and looked at Jiang Yue to reassure him.

[Luck.] Jiang Yue said angrily.

When he went to deliver medicine, he expected Yu Nianzhen to be smart about the whole matter.

He should have at least tried to call her before he tried to touch the coffin.

Even if he had to touch something, there was no reason Yu Nianzhen would have ignored the girl’s exposed head in favour of the dangerous coffin.

[It looks like we can’t without worrying about being attacked.] He informed.

However, Jiang Yue didn’t bother about him. Instead, he walked to the girl and observed her from all angles.

Eventually, he squatted beside her and forced a few pills into her mouth.

In fact, it would have been easier to feed her a cup of spiritual water.

However, there were in public.

There was no telling the kind of people watching the fun.

If they revealed something as precious as spiritual water, they would be hunted and wouldn’t know how they died.

’She will have to make do with this until we know who she is.’ Jiang Yue thought as he helped her refine the elixirs.

Soon after, the girl opened her eyes and looked at Jiang Yue.

’Red eyes?’ He thought and took a closer look at the girl.

"Who are you?" Yu Nianzhen suddenly asked.

The girl turned from Jiang Yue to Yu Nianzhen.

She remembered her master’s description of his brothers and was sure she didn’t recognise the wrong people.

After making sure, the fatigue from the past few months overwhelmed her.

Her red eyes shimmered with tears but she didn’t allow them to fall.

"Can you get up?" Jiang Yue asked.

From the corner of his eye, he could see the guards and there were almost upon them.

Before then, he hoped the girl could get up to reduce the awkwardness of their situation.

"I can get up, thank you, brother."

Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen frowned at the address but didn’t say anything.

They just watched as the girl rolled to the side and try to get up with the coffin still on her back.

"Untie the coffin first." Jiang Yue said.

However, the girl didn’t listen.

She contorted her body into strange shapes and finally managed to stand up despite the weight of the coffin.

’How long has she been carrying it to achieve this level of movement mastery?’ He wondered and couldn’t but pity the girl.

While on that thought, he remembered the disciple of the corpse yin sect they killed in Thousand Herbs Garden.

That person also carried a coffin and Jiang Yue was momentarily alarmed when he remembered.

However, there was a fundamental difference between the coffin of the corpse yin sect and the coffin carried by the girl.

This difference was in aura.

Unlike the coffins carried by evil cultivators, the girl’s coffin didn’t have an oppressive evil aura.

"Who are you?" Yu Nianzhen asked again when the girl stood up.

"My name is Hongzhu." She said.

"Hongzhu?" Jiang Yue looked at Yu Nianzhen and the swordsman shook his head.

He also didn’t know such a person.

"My master sent me to find his brothers." She continued.
